Senior Citizen Status 75 Sucks with Erie

After many years of satisfied insurance coverage with Erie, I paid my premiums regularly and knew I had coverage if I needed it. I never needed it for any of my multiple automobiles or home. I turned 75 and my auto insurance almost doubled. I should be getting a return of premiums for having no claims. Not with Erie.

Allain D. Latreille

Avoid Allain D. Latreille at all cost. Our company has spent over $20k per year for many years with Erie Insurance. Unfortunately, Allain D. Latreille was assigned to assist our business for a small claims loss. Allain D. Latreille, the representative for Erie is anything but professional. Allain does not return calls, he actually blocks your number so you cannot reach him. There is a host of issues regarding professionalism, courtesy and basic communication standards. We have been forced to call Erie Corporate. Corporate provided us with his supervisors contact info. We are now making some progress. Our wish is for corporate to hold their reps like Allain D. Latreille to higher standards and to hold them accountable for poor performance, in this case, zero performance.

I was an ERIE Agent about 8 years ago

I was an ERIE Agent about 8 years ago. I'm still a policy holder although an unhappy one. About 15 or so years ago ERIE was like a family of agents. ERIE's selling point was the policy holder comes first most of us felt that way. As the senior executives changed, ERIE became just another insurance company with nothing to set themselves apart from the pack. For some unknown reason ERIE sent me to collections even though I have auto debit.

My elderly parents have Erie…

My elderly parents have Erie homeowner's insurance. What a mess this has been. Their home had severe storm damage in June 2023. The home still has not been repaired, and is still not habitable. They have been living in a hotel for 6 months, and on top of that, one contractor stole money given to them for repairs to work on another house. Erie has had not compassion, no sense of urgency, and is completely unorganized. My parents are in their 80's and do not need this. Buyers beware. Your Erie policy is probably not worth the paper it's written on. The adjuster won't even return calls. Horrible example of an insurance company.

Erie Insurance is an affordable…

Erie Insurance is an affordable insurance company compared to others. I pay $97 a month for a 9 month plan they charge a $5 card processing fee still not bad. Another positive thing is I only had to pay $500 deductible when my car was involved in a car accident that originally would have costed me over $6,000

This company has raised my insurance…

This company has raised my insurance rate TWICE in the past two years after never missing a bill, receiving no tickets, and getting in ZERO accidents. I have called multiple times for the people at my local branch to tell me “we’re too swamped, we have to call you back another time.” I have tried numerous times to get in contact with my local Erie branch, each time they have an excuse to not talk to me. I don’t have the money to keep paying a company that doesn’t care about its customers, and continues to raise my insurance rates when I haven’t received a raise in years. These companies continue to use “oh we have to raise our prices cuz iNfLaTIon” as an excuse. You’ve continued to milk your customers for a scam service. I dislike this company and would encourage anyone considering this company to find another company to do business with

Erie Insurance is AWFUL. They FORCE you to REMOVE/KILL your pet

Erie Insurance is AWFUL. My 11 year old dog bit my son's friend. I filed a claim to cover any liability. The underwriter came back and told me I have until July 6th to remove my dog from my home or my homeowners would be CANCELLED. No one wants an old dog. I had to have her put down. My sons and I are devastated. The adjuster never mentioned the fact I would be FORCED to remove ie: kill my dog when filing the claim. I WOULDN'T have done it if I knew. Ironically, they didn't even pay a dime for the claim. If a tree falls on my house am I forced to remove all trees on my property? Where is this written in my policy??? Don't use them and if you do, cancel your policy. This is so CRUEL. Rest in peace my sweet, sweet Ginger. Meet me at the bridge.

Stick your sorries in your hat Erie Insurance.

Fantastic Insurance Company

We WERE customers for USAA for over 41 years. USAA likes to showboat and tell everyone how great their customer service is. It isn't. So we looked around and got great recommendations for Erie Insurance. My wife got into an accident this past year, and Erie handled everything - one call to our insurance agent. That's it. They coordinated everything. Didn't hassle with rental car or making us buy aftermarket parts. Were able to use the body shop we wanted, not what they wanted. Highest recommendation, IF you have a good driving record and can clear their underwriting requirements. Very good rates and customer service. We're quite happy with them. However, if you are prone to getting a lot tickets and putting in lots of claims for every little scratch on your car, Erie is not for you. Move on.

I'm not an Erie client but one of their clients hit my truck and broke my mirror off. He filed the claim immediately however, four days later I am still waiting for them to fix the damages to my vehicle. Thank goodness I have Geico as my insurance. they would never let a claim go unsettled for this long. Erie won't even return my calls. Sad representation of a company.

Erie is One of the worst company to deal with

One of the stupidest company. Stay away at any cost.
I was contemplating to switch to Erie insurance. But could not go with it due to finding better price elsewhere and made sure the insurance I was on not even a day may be 1hour, to be cancelled back in Apr 2021 and got written proof of the same. Despite this, due to agent's negligence stupid Erie started sending various bills and also collection letters. Its been very painful to deal with it providing all the proofs etc but so far they are still trying to get paid at least some. Completely unethical.

Somebody else's negligence is being reflected on the customer.

For the life I'm abandoning Erie insurance.

Such a bad experience.

I was a customer for over 5…

I was a customer for over 5 years...Tornado came through neighborhood. I told insurance adjuster I wanted to be present when he walked my property...he showed up when I was at work and left me a voicemail he was done. He missed super obvious damage-, he was very vocal about how competent he was.. almost like he was reading a script...3 months of delayed or no call backs,I finally asked for supervisor, she was just as bad...I had obvious damage to my property but they would not listen or come back out to meet me face to face to discuss...I finally hired an appraiser and enacted by go to appraisal clause...thus resulted in 4X + $$$$$ my initial damage assessment from Erie...everyone I spoke to in the industry said Erie was counting on me giving up...I had no reason to leave Erie and would have continued to do business with them for my insurance...they would have been further ahead just working with me instead of being rude and dishonest. Speaking with industry appraisers Erie is very tight and will not pay for home damage- their reputation is terrible...Avoid if you can, this was a very painful experience.

Cheap, great coverage and wonderful service.

My car's real windshield randomly shattered one day. I contacted Erie's dedicated glass line, spent exactly zero seconds on hold. I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful person who took care of everything in a few minutes. My coverage is very affordable, but there was no deductible for the service. Compared to Erie, every other car insurance company feels like a scam.
