In March I bought a gold band ring, paying in £160 *in cash* from the Ernest Jones store in Meadowhall. This ring was listed as 'heavyweight', yet after four months it snapped. I was really disappointed and immediately emailed customer services. (Bear in mind these rings are sold as wedding rings - can you imagine how upset someone would be if their wedding ring broke after only four months?) I received a reasonably prompt response but unfortunately was told I needed to take the ring back to the store for an 'assessment'. It is awkward and time-consuming for me to travel to Meadowhall and I try to avoid it but was not given an alternative. At the store I was told the ring would need to be sent away for 'investigation' and that I could not have a refund there and then. Following the link I was given I was able to follow the journey of the ring through the process, but was concerned that it kept being called a repair; I did not want a repair, I wanted a refund as the item was obviously faulty. Eventually the investigation determined that the ring was of faulty manufacture and so badly made that it was not even repairable, again I was told to attend the store to receive my refund, I made sure that the person I spoke over the phone at that point knew that I wanted a cash refund. So today (August 11th) I waste another half a day travelling to Meadowhall, only to be told that I could not receive a refund in cash and that I would need to accept it as a credit on my bank card or wait for a phone call to go to the store when they had enough cash available as they didn't have enough cash in the store "because it is early in the morning". I really really did not want to travel to Meadowhall again, and so I reluctantly accepted the refund on my card; I asked when this would appear in my bank and to add insult to injury was told it could take several days.
I am not happy. I am not happy about being sold a faulty ring, where is the quality control? I am not happy about needing to waste three half days travelling to and from the Meadowhall store, and I am really angry about being denied a refund in cash when that is the way I made the original payment, and I had told them that was how I wanted the money returned.
I will never use Ernest Jones again after this extremely poor and frustrating experience.

Engagement Ring
After visiting the Meadowhall branch regarding a missing stone from my engagement ring. I would like the thank Jennie and Rachel for really looking after me and sorting my ring. I can not thank them enough, they both listened and went to great lengths is sorting my ring. Customer service was second to none. Highly recommend this store in particular Jennie and Rachel.
THANK YOU
Meadowhall customers worst service
Meadowhall customer service is absolutely terrible.
My husband bought a watch, a rather expensive one and it stopped working. We went to the store and was told she will have her watch experts have a thorough look at it.
Asked if we wanted to pay £75 just incase it was the battery, I refused and stated they did not know what’s wrong yet so will pay upon it being checked.
My husband paid the £75 to which I was furious, and instead of checking all the watch over, the staff sent them the watch telling them to replace the battery. I am absolutely furious.
The watch after 9 months with a new battery has now stopped so we took it back to the shop. This time they have come back saying it needs a service because there is dirt in it. Well how has dirt got in it if it’s been re-sealed, and why did they advise them to change the battery when the sales assistant didn’t know it’s a battery.
When we buy something expensive we do not expect a watch to just have a battery bunged in it and sent back to us. We want it taken apart and thoroughly checked as what the sales staff told us. Now we need a service, which I am not happy paying for as it could have been done when they took the watch in and we wouldn’t have had to take it back a second time.
I have just had the manager on the phone and say to me we are going round in circles what do you want, I said I’d like the £75 refund along with the watch back, the MANAGER then said so you want the watch back and we will take the battery we put in 9 months ago. I honestly could not believe what I was hearing! And this is someone they have as a manager speaking to a customer like that. I know people can be petty but that was disgusting behaviour and I will be contacting the CEO and making sure everyone knows this is the service they provide, false, inaccurate, and down right disgusting.

Wedding band sent to the wrong customer??
Me and my Fiancé went into store on 21st November (my birthday) to find our wedding rings. I absolutely fell in love with my ring and my other half found his too. We were happy with the service we received in store and paid in full however since leaving it’s been a different story.
I had to leave my ring to be resized and was reassured this could be delivered to me (I live 1.5 hours away) my fiancé received his ring no problem however I got a text saying mine was ready for collection. I called the store to explain I needed it sent out, they explained it had been sent and provided me with a tracking number for DX. I tried the tracking number with the postcode and it said they didn’t match with the tracking number they had on record. Of course this rang alarm bells and I called the store back and was assured I would receive a call back (this was Saturday 30th November). Nobody called me back.
In the meantime I was told by the delivery company this would be delivered Monday 2nd December. Monday came and went and then Tuesday afternoon nothing still. I called the store to explain. Urging them to call me back that day with an explanation as I was going on holiday the next day.
I received a call back 2 hours later apologising that my ring had been sent to the wrong customer??? I understand mistakes happen but how does this happen? Would the other customer never of said anything had I not called in and raised the alarm to the store.
They promised it would be picked up and I asked for it to be sent to my local store. I asked them to email me with updates when they had the ring, when it would be sent, when I can pick it up etc. it’s now 4 days later and I haven’t received one single email. I am absolutely gobsmacked. This is a huge moment in our lives and the lack of care and responsibility taken by Ernest jones Meadow Hall truly astounds me.
It might be just another sale to them, but it’s a huge moment for us. As if wedding planning wasn’t stressful enough.

Easy to place order and had my choice of watch in stock
Have always used Ernest Jones for…
Have always used Ernest Jones for jewellery purchases from engagement ring to wedding and eternity as well as for special occasions and always thought they were reputable until today went into there meadowhall branch to enquire regarding having my wife's ring resized was told yes they could do this and for an extra charge could do It that day which thought was amazing agreed a price and left ring to collect later that day got a phone call an hour later to go back to the shop as there was a problem they were unable to resize the ring on returning to shop discussed options and was advised could be used and made into another or other option was to replace with new we thanked for there assistance and left been to a local family jewellers today and they have resized cleaned and charged a third of Ernest Jones quote all within 2 hours wial we went for dinner what a difference if it was down to Ernest Jones advise we would have scrapped the engagement ring or spent a fortune on a new one which wasn't needed so please don't take there advise and try the small independent jewellers who have more knowledge experience and skills to do work on jewellery

Special graduation ring
We took an old family ring to this jeweller. The purpous of the visit was to have the ring refurbished together with the replacement of some gemstones so that we could give it as a graduation gift to our daughter. The store manager, Rachel, was very helpful and understood what we wanted and the significance it held. After an initial quote we chose to proceed. We received the ring back in time for the ceremony and we were delighted with the result. Our daughter was over the moon with the ring and she felt that grandma was with her on the day. Thank you to Rachel and her staff for an excellent service.

We were assisted by Richard, the manager. He helped us with our query. He was polite and knowledgeable. The sort of old fashioned customer service that very rarely happens these days. A pleasure.
Snapped Ring & No Empathy
My boyfriend chose a ring from Ernest Jones for our engagement in December. He proposed with it and it was a beautiful ring however needed altering to be made bigger. As they didn't have my size, they ordered a bigger one then made my size out of that. When I received the ring, it was a great size but very thin where it looked like it had been stretched to be made bigger. I thought nothing of this as I don't know much about this area. In April, 4 months after wearing the ring and taking good care of it (even taking it off to simply wash my hands) it snapped. I literally couldn't believe what had happened but the band snapped at the thin part of the ring. I took it back into the shop, was told they could fix it and it would be ready in a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks later, we got a phone call where we were told that they could not fix the ring (no reason why) and that they also no longer sold it. Therefore, there was no way I could have my ring that I had fallen in love with. We went into the shop to browse for a new ring, however, when we told the shop assistant the story, there was no empathy just 'oh' and she proceeded to show us rings that were double the price of the one we had. I mentioned that if I bought one from here I didn't want the same thing to happen and she told me I'd just need a different band but couldn't explain why that made a difference. I then went over to the rings on sale, but couldn't have any of these as there were none in my size. The woman then suggested we went back over to the more expensive rings after we had already explained we couldn't afford that price, at this point I asked for a refund so that we could go elsewhere. There was 0 sympathy, no acknowledgement that actually this was quite upsetting and not a great time for us and quite clearly the only intention was to upsell us. Not impressed at all.
Getting it right (the right way) … Thank you Jolie !!!
I had been looking for a watch for my 50th birthday and done online research, I wanted to view one in person.
When I entered Ernest Jones in Meadowhall a very pleasant young lady offered to help, I tried on the watch but it didn’t seem to be the one for me.
After a brief conversation with Jolie she was able to offer alternatives and was very knowledgeable, I may have actually found the watch for my birthday after all.
Instead of leaving disheartened I left with a sense of accomplishment, Jolie had listened and taken on board without pressing the matter.
Thank you Jolie, you were very professional and respectful !!!
Michael kors watches. Love them
That I could order the item and have it delivered straight to my home.

Proposal ruined
I went in to the Sheffield store on the 23rd of September and bought an engagement ring that was due to be sent off to be resized. Upon hearing nothing since then I contacted the customer support who told me that the ring order was cancelled due to it being out of stock.
I had no communication to inform me this was the case, they claimed an email was sent but it was never received, and a measly £15 in store voucher was offered as compensation.
I found this offer completely insulting as being sold a ring that was out of stock which as a result has entirely ruined my proposal plans, meaning I will not have a ring to take on a holiday to propose.
I would absolutely not shop here again, and the excuse of “the system is not updated live” is a poor one that has, as mentioned, ruined my proposal.

Great watch buying experience
Helen and the team made my Longines Ultra-Chron buying experience very memorable. They knew everything about the watch and company heritage, gave me a good discount, with coffee and biscuits, and threw in two Hugo Boss pens worth £200 and a Longines watch travel case.
No fuss, efficient service
Had to return a bracelet bought as a Christmas present as a piece had become loose on it, we could provide proof of purchase but no receipt. They found our details on their system and exchanged it, no quibble. We have bought here before and will definitely do so again, a friendly, efficient service given with a smile.

Think twice before spending your money in this branch. They’ve damaged my engagement ring while in repair.
My husband bought my engagement ring there few years ago. It needed a repair now and we also ask for it to be plated as turned goldish.
4 months later my ring came back from the workshop and …. It wasn’t made as the original ring. It was very poorly fitted diamond ring. It didn’t look the same as mine/ original one.
All staff persuaded me that’s it’s exactly the same ring and because I didn’t have it on my finger for long time it might look weird to me. I wasn’t happy with it and I didn’t accept the repair as I was sure it’s not my my ring.
I’ve asked to order the same / new ring to compare. After the new one has arrived everyone at the store could tell that they’re not even close to match.
Diamond was positioned differently (if actually it was a diamond! As didn’t look like the original one!) and the ring was still goldish.
They were trying to charge me few hundred pounds for repair where actually nothing was done.
The ring is damaged now as it has been bent in few places.
That was my engagement ring and It has sentimental meaning to me.
Also the manager and assistant manager don’t give a fuss about the whole situation.
It’s 5th month now and they didn’t come back to me how they want to resolve the problem. I am the one who keep calling the store and asking. In their favour should be to resolve this issue.
I am not gonna mention their lies when they were trying to charge me for the repair stating it’s the same ring! They are clearly ripping people off! It’s not right to charge people for service that wasn’t provided.
You should be paying me back for my ring that your workshop has damaged !
Also some of the staff are arrogant, and disrespectful.
I felt discriminated.
My next step will be contacting Ombudsman Services as I would like to have my ring finally back.
Would not shop there anyone.

great customer service
great customer service. My Mum had a stroke a few years ago and struggles to express herself. She knows what she wants to say but can't always say the right words. The sales assistant, I think her name was Christobel? was so patient with her and took away any embarrassment. She was really helpful with the limited information my mum could tell her. Great customer service.
