Old and dirty train. Not on time and confusion because they coupled wrong the carriages 13, 12, 14 The toilets were so disgusting.
This train is a good option for young people and low budget.

NEVER EVER TRAVEL BY EUROPEAN SLEEPER! Train ES452 August 16, 2026 broken from Prague all the way to Amsterdam! Started with a broken locomotive.🚂 Tried to push it along. Stopped 1st time for about 20-30 minutes due to locomotive issue. We were told problem was fixed. Stopped 2nd time for about an hour, again due to locomotive issue. Currently, a 4+ hour halt at Dresden for new locomotive to arrive from Netherlands. Only one restroom working on the carriage the other one was clogged from starting point. @EuropeanSleeper get your shit together. Any self respecting train company should have replacement locomotives strategically placed along the routes. @EuropeanSleeper clean your trains. Hey maybe you can undergo training from one of the other many train companies in Europe and Asia on how to run a railway company. Rating: -10 ⭐️

Night trains are amazing adventures, and the kids loved every minute of it. Getting to where you need to go first thing in the morning with a whole day ahead is also great.
Only stressful bit was finding out where to stand on the platform without having to run to find your carriage. They used to have paper displays, which they replaced with... nothing at all.

I‘m happy that there are night trains again. And good ones as well.

Lovely quiet service punctual staff welcoming and breakfast superb very comfortable

No air conditioner, bottom bunks were very hot and the top ones were cold. The window had to be open all the time, which made the compartment really loud. With the window open it was still scorching hot at the bottom. I was in the middle and got sick because of the wind blowing in my face.

Very helpful conductor. There was no soap, but luckily I had my own. Bed linen and towels were clean

Staff were really friendly. Breakfast was great. It was quite noisy so next time I'd take ear plugs. Beds were comfy and it was lovely having a duvet.

It was very hot outside and we could noch cool down our cabin before nighttime.
The staff was very nice.
The toilets were okay.

If you book European Sleeper, understand that your booked arrival time can change at any point. Mine was pushed back 45 minutes by an email sent about 10 days before departure, with no real alternative offered. By then, rebooking meant either an unreasonable extra cost or losing two days of my 4-day trip. The train then arrived an additional 45 minutes later than that revised time too, meaning a 90-minute delay against the ticket I had purchased.
The notification email told me to contact customer service to be informed of my rights. In practice, that's not a real option when time matters. It took several days and multiple follow-ups from me before I got any response at all to my complaint, let alone in the narrow window I'd have had to act on a schedule change before departure. If "contact us" is the stated remedy, it needs to actually be responsive.
When I finally did get a response, customer service argued that because they'd "informed me in advance," my original booked time no longer counted for compensation purposes. Their own General Conditions of Carriage say the opposite: that exemption only applies if you're informed before you purchase your ticket, not after. So they are arguing against their own stated terms. I got no refund for the 90 minute delay, with the explanation that "timetables can change".
The bigger issue for anyone considering booking: there is nothing stopping them from changing your arrival time at any point between booking and travel, right up to a few days before. If you have onward plans, connections, or anything time-sensitive, you cannot actually rely on the time you booked. And if something goes wrong, don't expect a quick or straightforward response.
The one star goes to the staff in the train, who are indeed very nice and not to blame for this chaos.

Very sympathetic company and train stewards, offering a sustainable way to travel. We had a significant delay, but I slept through all of it so it wasn’t the worst. The train was clean and my co-passengers were considerate.

We had a booking for a sleeping wagon from Hamburg to Paris. As we arrived at the station we were told that we were downgraded to Liegewagon. There we had no proper bedsheets, the beds themselves were 1,70 short, all the toilets in that wagon were out of order. The train arrived in Paris 3 1/2. hours later than planed. The returntrip: again just Liegewagon, the air conditioning didn’t work - 31‘ Celsius in Paris, train standing all day in that heat. Train leaving 1 1/2 hours early. Nobody offering an excuse or drinking water. At the returntrip we didn’t even get the inclusive breakfast .
So never ever again!

We had an overall pleasant trip from Amersfoort to Prague. The trains are quite old, but pretty comfortable. We booked the Comfort Plus class and it had fine and clean beds, a working sink, plenty of luggage space and functioning power sockets. Floors weren't clean though and the carpetting could use renewing. There were adequate toilets that were kept clean, also on the second day of the trip. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Of course, you'll never sleep as good as in your own bed (always bring ear plugs and a sleep mask!) but overall it's an efficient and environmental friendly way of traveling that we'll certainly use again.

Horrible experience with this company. The train has been modified 1 week before. The departure was advanced by 4 hours.
The day of the trip, the train was 2 hours late ans we stayed on a non climatized train for 2 more hours waiting with NO information !!
Finaly we left almost at the initial time ...
I will never use this company again !
Moreover, they was no drinkable water on board ! Even the water from the sink was undrinkable ! For a 14h trip, it would be appreciated !

They call it "European Sleeper" but I had to sit upright in a small seat, in a train full of loud teenagers -- not very comfortable. On the ticket, I had a seat number, but when I came into the wagon, the staff told me it was free seating and I should just take what was available. This was uncomfortable as I had to go to several passengers (lots of moody looking teenagers who had taken up whole sections of seats) and ask if I could sit next to them, only to be refused because they were holding the seat for their friends who were sleeping in the other wagon. So at first I had to sit out on one of the folding seats -- that would have been really hard for 7 hours! Eventually, a friendly girl said I could sit next to her, so at least I got a seat.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience.
We booked our tickets well in advance so we could sit together on the overnight journey. Despite this, one of our seats was changed just two days before departure, meaning we were separated. As a woman, I would have had to spend the entire night alone in a compartment with four unfamiliar men. This made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe.
Customer service simply told us to speak to the train staff, but they were unable to help either. We only managed to sit together because some passengers didn’t board the train in Paris, and we found those empty seats ourselves. Without that coincidence, we would have been separated for the entire night.
On top of that, the train was extremely hot in temperatures above 30°C because the air conditioning either wasn’t working or didn’t exist. The seats were also very uncomfortable, and some compartments even had fewer seats than they were supposed to.
For an overnight train, both the customer service and the overall comfort were very disappointing. I would not recommend European Sleeper.
