Gave me no choice but to terminate my membership! Poor service in the gym! had to rely on asking members for advice regarding exercises as I have a health problem! there is no caring staff whatsoever if there is you have to pay extra!! Did not feel welcome or safe!

I usually take my 4 year old daughter swimming here as it’s the only indoor pool I know of in Whitby, and we’ve generally had good experiences. Today, however, the baby/kids pool wasn’t available due to swimming lessons, which was understandable.

We headed to the main pool, and I picked up two noodles to help support my daughter while she swam. A swimming instructor then asked if the noodles were mine. I said no, and she asked me rather abruptly to put them back.

While I understand if equipment is reserved, they were not reserved and were closer to the adult pool.
There were plenty of noodles available for everyone & she wasn’t using them.
It felt unnecessarily strict, especially since my 4 year old was in the adult pool due to the kids’ area being closed. A bit more understanding, friendliness and flexibility in tone would have gone a long way, especially when dealing with parents and young children.

I love attending Whitby Leisure centre. All the staff members are very friendly and helpful. My reason for giving my experience 4 stars rather than 5 is purely due to the rundown state of the showers and changing rooms on the wet side.
They are dark and feel dirty, especially compared to the dry side changing rooms and showers which are clean, bright and modern, and when compared to other Everyone Active pools I have used and other public pools run. by different companies.
I think the showers are way too hot and wonder if this is economical - also the changing rooms are chilly. Could the heating be turned up one degree and the showers turned down a notch?
The 9 o clock lane swim I attended today was very nice, not too many people so slow and faster swimmers in the "medium" lane were easily accommodated.
This is not the case at busier times where slower swimmers can cause people overtaking them (both directions) to knock into them and each other. Could the slow lane be brought back for busy sessions eg Wednesday lunchtimes?
Overall tho, great, and we are very lucky to have our leisure centre.

Can’t make it anymore awkward. The times online don’t match the times on the website meaning you have to go all the way down there and find out the times. Also the times are really bad. For example open on a Tuesday till 8 but closes 2 or 4 on a Saturday? It’s like they don’t want people to actually go swimming there. And most of the time there is never anyone there at front desk

Whitby Leisure Centre always provides a pleasant environment to exercise in your preferred manner. Staff are pleasant and helpful if you need them and technology enables you to check in quickly if you're in a hurry. I'd recommend the centre to anyone regardless of age or personal goals.
