Tapane Beach Resort - Expedia - Aliviaggi
We booked Tapane Beach Resort from January 16 to 20, 2026 through the agency Aliviaggi, which in turn booked via Expedia.
While we were in transit in Cebu, the resort informed us via WhatsApp that, due to rough sea conditions, ferries to Malapascua would not be operating. We therefore had to make our own arrangements, hoping to be able to depart the following day. Unfortunately, the bad weather persisted, forcing us to completely reorganize our trip and find alternative accommodation at our own expense.
As the booking was non-refundable, we were aware of the risk of not receiving any refund for the stay. However, we had purchased a sea view upgrade separately directly with the resort, and we requested at least a refund for this additional cost. This request was completely ignored: not only did we receive no refund, but we were not even offered basic assistance or support in finding alternative solutions.
We also attempted to obtain compensation through the insurance policies of Aliviaggi and Expedia, but without any success.
The result: a ruined vacation and a significant financial loss.
An extremely negative experience in every respect.
Never again Aliviaggi, never again Expedia, never again Malapascua, never again Tapane Beach Resort.
I strongly advise others to proceed with caution.
Cancelling package holiday nightmare
I wish I had seen all of the poor reviews before purchasing my package holiday through Expedia. I bought a package holiday to Dubai departing in May but given the current situation in Iran contacted their customer service to enquire about a refund. I was told that I could have a full refund for the entire package but before I could accept the refund I was cut off as despite taking 50 minutes to get through to them on their chat you you get cut off after one minute of inactivity. Based on the information I received I bought a new holiday and then the next day contacted Expedia again to get my refund. I was told that I could only have part of the money refunded and not the flights part despite having it in writing from them that a full refund was available. I’m now just passed from one person to another that doesn’t even understand. I’ve had part of the package cancelled.

We booked a hotel through Expedia for a much-needed getaway, only to drive 2 hours and discover that the hotel was overbooked and they had no room for us. The service was horrible from start to finish—no one could hear or listen to our situation.
After wasting our time, gas, and evening, Expedia’s customer service finally refunded our money, but that was the bare minimum. They offered nothing for the major inconvenience, stress, and ruined plans. No compensation, no apology, no effort to make it right.
Never booking through Expedia again. This experience was a complete nightmare.
Scam
Horrible. Couldn’t get any help on a canceled hotel stay. I also purchased the insurance and was told I wasn’t able to file a claim. Why pay for it? My trip was cancelled by my job and I lost three nights of hotel and the fees I paid on top of this for the insurance that was useless. Save your money and book direct or another reputable company.
Expedia Scammers
I reserved a rental car for my trip to Vegas in April of this year. I selected pay at the counter for the car. They charged my card and took my money and now they are saying I have to wait 10 to 14 business days to get my money back. It did not take 10 to 14 business days for them to get my money that they weren't authorized to take today. But here we are... I wish I would have came to this site and read reviews before trusting Expedia for anything.
A hardworking citizen being scammed
Please people be very careful with Expedia Expedia is scamming people. They are not helping you when you call them for help you and then they are helping them selfs aswell. They are going after your credit cards. I was just scammed.
The indian person that just helped me with my flight.Scammed me 2000 thousand dollars. Be careful the manager's and everyone they're all in it. It's so frustrating supposedly, his name was Darwin Miller. I don't know and then Ralph. So if you hear those names hang up.
Expedia/EasyJet
We booked a trip to Cyprus but decided to cancel it due to the war in the Middle East. The flight was with EasyJet and Expedia said the flight had to be cancelled by contacting EasyJet but th EasyJet app/website kept redirecting me back to the booking agent (Expedia). We finally found a phone number for EasyJet. After about half an hour on the phone we finally got the flight cancelled and got a £26 token refund which is being sent to Expedia! I have used Expedia many times before but this has put me off using them again.
Expedia Failed Completely When It Mattered Most
This experience completely destroyed my trust in Expedia. I had to cancel my trip due to the war in the Middle East—an obvious safety issue that was completely out of my control. Instead of supporting me in a serious situation, Expedia offered absolutely no help.
They simply hid behind the hotel’s policies and acted like they had no responsibility, even though I booked and paid through their platform. I was passed around with generic responses, no real assistance, and zero effort to advocate for me as their customer. It felt like once they had my money, they were no longer interested in helping at all.
What’s most frustrating is that platforms like Expedia advertise convenience and customer support, but when something actually goes wrong—especially something as serious as a war—they completely fail to step up. There was no flexibility, no escalation, and no attempt to find a fair solution.
Overall, this was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. I would strongly caution anyone using Expedia: if anything unexpected happens, don’t expect support or protection—you may be left on your own dealing with the consequences.
Hotel vastly different to description
I booked two rooms in Cambodia which differed vastly from the descriptions in writing and visually according to the photos. Moreover, they were in extremely noisy and filthy locations. Expedia only relied on the goodwill of the hotel to provide a refund, which is like asking a steak restaurant owner to run a vegan cafe. These are hotels which have already been massively disingenuous in their depictions of the hotel and rooms - for example, advertised glass shower enclosures turned out to be wet rooms with showers spraying onto toilets, and windows blocked by mosquito screens. The customer service was woefully ineffective - actual AI robots would have provided more convincing empathy, kept up with the details, and followed through. It was an Omni shambles. These are not just my words but words of many past guests as documented on TripAdvisor and Google.
The hotel booked through Expedia closed…
The hotel booked through Expedia closed down and issued refunds but Expedia refused to provide the refund the hotel gave out and instead pocketed the money
Poor and lazy automated customer support. Will not be booking with Expedia again.
Never book with expedia. Go direct (same as what many other reviews on here say).
Expedia are appalling when it comes to customers trying to contacting their customer service team for help/support. No phone numbers or contact centre. Just a rubbish chat bot and then a very long wait (if you're lucky) to then speak with a human in a live chat.
Expedia refuse to provide you with an IATA number with your flight booking, so you cannot download flight E-tickets from BA in advance, as a result. They blame "security" for this.
This is the last time I will be booking anything through a 3rd party like Expedia as if anything goes wrong, they shirk all responsibility onto other companies. No central support - just generic links to the home page of airlines. Not even to the right support page at the very least.
Great when everything works, but Expedia will burn their bridges with customers who have any issues
Lazy customer service at best.
Book direct, not through Expedia
I strongly recommend booking direct with hotels/airlines rather than going through Expedia. The only benefit is having everything in one place. When things go wrong, they will not help. My flight was cancelled, they were supposed to change the booking to two nights instead of three, they didn’t. And now they are making it impossible to get a refund and blaming the hotel. They do not have your best interests in mind.
My gawd
My gawd, EXPEDIA is a horrid company that gives no cares at all about the end user. It's a fee based rip-off system that has too many actors. To cancel a car rental before my trip it took hours on the phone. Too many calls, and then EXPEDIA had to call the car rental. Not me. It makes travel even before you go an effing nightmare. And this has happened twice!! Never again. DO NOT USE EXPEDIA!!
Would you like incompetence?
Would you like incompetence? Then call Expedia customer service, where you'll find it in spades.
Price may not, be the price
I have been a longtime Expedia customer but wish they would not work with partners that alter prices they post for rental cars. I would not recommend car rental reservations through Expedia. When I contacted Expedia they said I would get a refund but then the refund never happens with the deceptive partner NU Car Rentals. So, I would NOT recommend booking cars through Expedia.
Prepaid and no car. Rude & mocking staff
Despite prepaid rental no available cars and couldn’t get me a refund. Rude and mocking staff. Took an hour and a half to finally get a car. Nearby Hertz, Budget and Alamo rental kiosks seemingly had no problem serving their customers. I should have paid attention to Avis’ CHS reviews.
Change of flights
We booked flights to America on the wrong outbound day. We could see that there is lots of availability for the flight on the day we actually wanted to travel, but when we asked about changing the flight, Expedia told us that it would cost almost the same amount as a brand new flight to change the dates. The original flight cost £684 per ticket and the change to flights would cost us £590 per ticket. So now instead of Expedia getting the £150 plus taxes of £20 to change the flight, they are getting nothing because who in their right mind would pay that price to change a flight! Shocking company strategy and I will certainly not book anything through Expedia again.
Expedia Horrible service and help option
I went to check in for 3 rooms I had made for my adult kids and the Marriot said they only had 2 rooms. I showed them the conformation but they said one of the rooms had been cancelled. After several chats with virtual agents and 30 min on the phone with Expedia they couldn't solve the issue and said they offered to book me another room at a different property. WHAT?? Why would I want me kids at another property. I ended up booking another rom but couldn't get a refund for the one Expedia lost. they said their system doesn't allow refunds. I will never use Expedia again, their people were useless and unhelpful.
We booked our airline flights based on…
We booked our airline flights based on information they promised that proved to be false. They said the flights we were booking had no carry on fees, but now as we are ready to leave we have been told by the airline (frontier) that we need to pay hundreds $ extra. Spent hours on the phone only to be told they are sorry for my confusion. I have it all printed and saved! They obviously lied, or committed fraud!
Wonderful service
Unfortunately, I was sad that I had to cancel my reservations due to a family emergency. Mr. Arnell helped me immediately and was completely sympathetic to my family issues. I am grateful for Arnell along with Expedia for helping me out and with my refund and I will book my next vacation with you all once I get my family situation taken care of.
