100% improvement , well done

well its one year on from my last visit and the new owners had not long taken over , i gave a one star review meal was disgusting but give them credit where credits due they have completely turned it around ,the meal was excellent and well represented , food was tasty only downside was the maincourse could have been hotter ,plates wernt very warm as was the veg , i would like to have had agravy boat or two on the table as there 10 of us , also coffee served with cold milk , no extra coffee on table , cost of meal £36.50 pp was it worth it , yes on the plus side they have added a private bar in the function room which is a big plus as nothing is more irritating as waiting for drinks especially when theres 100 plus attending , the place looks a lot cleaner and fresher now , there was plenty of service staff but prob could have done with an extra bar person , or better still a table waiter /tress for drink orders , would i go back now ? yes certainly , the hotel has improved 100% over the last 12 months , so all credit to the new owners , Rome wasnt built in a day , well done , I'm back in the summer for afternoon tea , so we shall see if the improvements continue , they are gradually improving the decor as well and now have a dedicated dog friendly room ,another big plus

Pool

Pool was clean and warm. Changing facilities were awful. Showers filthy. Locks were all broken. Not good enough!

Terrible service

The meal was warm and the service was terrible. 30min no body come to take an order, after complain the order was taking included wine, which arrived 40 min later with starter. The plates were empty but waitress pass so many times and just ignore our table. When main arrived it was warm not hot as it must be. When we are finished meal staff again pass table and the dessert never arrived . Two and half hours we gave up, paid and left. An anniversary lunch spoiled.

Absolutely disgusting treatment after hair found in sandwich

Absolutely disgusting treatment after finding a hair in my sandwich. After complaining, admittedly they did replace but on asking if we would receive a refund or at least something complimentary, I was met with a comment from the manager of “well you had a replacement didn’t you”. Not only was this directed at me in a rude and abrupt manner, after he had lectured me about his 45 years in hospitality, but no apology was given nor any sympathy. I was refused any type of refund or anything other that a complimentary coffee (the coffee only offered after a rather stern conversation). Only reason for an extra star was the friendliness of the general staff and quality of the food albeit with a hair on the first one.
Unfortunately won’t be returning

A Return to The Falmouth Hotel

This was our second stay at The Falmouth Hotel. We noted that the main areas have been redecorated since our last visit. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, largely due to the hotel's location and the staff's good service.

Key Highlight: The Bay Views
The best part of our stay was the views of the bay and surrounding area.

Arrival and Accessibility
Upon arrival, the hotel looks impressive. However, accessibility can be challenging. The main entrance has a few shallow steps, and other exits, which we used occasionally due to work blocking the main entrance, have deep steps. This is something to consider for guests with mobility concerns.

Accommodation: Updated Rooms, Cooling Needs Improvement
Our room was clean, and the decor also seemed updated since our last stay. The bed and room were comfortable enough. All in-room amenities, including Wi-Fi, worked well. The Wi-Fi offered good coverage and sufficient bandwidth for browsing and streaming.

A key point of feedback relates to the room's ventilation. The window opened only a small amount, and with high temperatures day and night, the provided fan was often insufficient. Air conditioning would be a significant improvement, especially during warmer periods.

Dining Experience: Varied Menu, Inconsistent Breakfast
The hotel bar has a good selection of drinks. The restaurant offered a reasonable menu, including daily specials like soup, a starter, and a catch of the day, in addition to the standard menu. The food was generally of good quality, with some interesting options; Ramen was popular. I particularly enjoyed the Teriyaki Chicken, which was well-flavoured. While the food quality was good, I felt the pricing was a bit high for the menu's style, especially given current costs.

Breakfast was generally acceptable but inconsistent. This was mainly due to items appearing to be batch-cooked and kept warm for too long. This resulted in very overcooked fried and poached eggs, and bacon that was almost too hard to cut. I provided this feedback at reception upon check-out, hoping it will be addressed. It's important for servers to identify and prevent such quality issues before food reaches guests. We found it helpful to specify how we wanted our eggs cooked, for example, "eggs over-easy."

Staff and Service: Good Performance
The staff at The Falmouth Hotel performed well. They were consistently friendly, approachable, and did their best to assist guests. Their efforts positively contributed to our stay.

Location and Local Parking
The hotel's location is good, about a kilometre from Falmouth town centre, making it walkable for most. If driving into town, several car parks are available, but they fill quickly, so an early start is recommended. We had an issue with the Maritime Car Park, which tried to charge us £105 for a 90-minute stay, seemingly due to its ANPR system incorrectly logging our previous visit. We will avoid that car park in the future.

Value for Money & Recommendation
While some dining aspects felt overpriced, the overall experience, combined with the location and staff service, still offered reasonable value.

Overall, I would recommend The Falmouth Hotel. It is a pleasant place, and the staff consistently work to look after their guests, making for a good stay.

The food was truly awful

The food was truly awful! Tasted like frozen oven chips and not fresh. I’m not quite sure how they could make it taste so disgusting and it was very over priced. Surroundings need a complete update and revamp. Possibly one of the worst meals we’ve had. Over priced rubbish. Took almost 2 hours to get main courses and that was with us chasing. Don’t really blame the staff the hotel is obviously trying to make a profit by overcharging and understaffing !

Review for the restaurant only- disappointing

Review for the restaurant only, which was disappointing.
We booked a table for 7.30pm and were welcomed into the restaurant.
We were shown to our table and offered some water and the menus, then left for 20 minutes before our drinks order was taken so we ordered our food at the same time. There was a lengthy delay between ordering our drinks and them arriving, followed by a wait of approx. 45 minutes before our food eventually arrived.
At no point did any member of staff communicate there would be delay with the food or apologise for the time it was taking.
The food was well presented and tasty, however the dish my husband ordered was very small (more like a child's portion).
We ordered a further drink which did not arrive before the end of the meal, so we cancelled it.
We also received a call from the hotel whilst we were in the restaurant reminding us we had booked a table!
Positives:
Great food,
Polite staff,
Nice atmosphere,
Negatives:
Lengthy delay in receiving our order,
Poor communication regarding delay to food,
Length of time drinks orders take to prepare and reach the table,
Portion size,
Dirty windows and mirrors in the restaurant.

Falmouth flagship restaurant flopped!

This review is only about the restaurant.
Our table was booked for 18.30 but was not ready so we went to the bar for a drink. Bar service was very slow.
Our table was ready for us nearly an hour late.
Our order was taken promptly and the food was good.
Not offered a steak knife or condiments.
One meal ( a chicken burger) failed to arrive with no explanation. When we asked the waitress after 10-15 minutes she said there had been a problem with our ticket and the food was being plated.
We noted a member of the kitchen staff come out to speak to other guests but still the meal did not arrive. Had to ask for a drink for our friend as she waited while we ate but the staff seemed disinterested although one eventually appeared.
The missing meal was obviously not seen as important as we were still kept waiting with no explanation.
Eventually it arrived but we had all almost finished so our friend declined it.
On paying the bill the waitress seemed to have trouble with the technology. I was asked to pay one price for my meal but when I asked for a receipt I discovered that the actual cost of my meal was £8 less than I had originally been told.

Booking Service online didn't work for me.

Went onto Falmouth Hotel website on Thursday 13th February to book for Sunday lunch 16th February.
I booked a table for 1400hrs and signed up for their newsletter.

Had a email thanking me for signing up to the newsletter. But no mention of my booking. I decided to call around lunchtime Thursday. No one on reception as the answer service kept taking me to option one or option two for reception.

On Saturday I thought that I had better checked booking I called again. Got through and was told they would have to call me back. Confirmed my name and number. Nobody called!
Saturday night I went onto Instagram and sent them a direct message. Had a reply saying sorry and the team would look into it.
Sunday 1230hrs asked if there was any luck. Was asked to call again.

Called at about 1255hrs and was told that they do not have a table for me! They could book me in for next week!

This was very hard work to book a table . I won't bother again.

The only veggie meal without cheese is…

The only veggie meal without cheese is tempura asparagus with rice @ £16

Presentation very good however the tempura wasn’t visible there was 3 asparagus bent over a round of rice, white rice with parsley in with a couple of squirts of sweet chilli sauce on the plate not enough to flavour anything. The meal was very bland and over priced for a plate of rice. Very poor !

Um!!! 🤔

Booked sun to Tues, in executive sea view room for 3 adults, one of who has learning disabilities. Sofa bed made up. We knew that hotel has been taken over, and is in dire need of an up date which is on going, however, we have to begin with the restaurant, the menu is very poor, not a lot of choice. (Thank goodness for good old fish@chips) This really needs addressing. Especially for someone with learning disabilities whose food choices can be awkward, soup of the day great but you can't keep having soup for duration of your stay. There really needs to be more choice, we too found menu rather bland and boring, if your vegan it's great. Also as paying guests (and it's not cheap) I find it hard to comprehend why you have to book your table, it appears that guests take second place to non residents and coach parties. Reception leaves a lot to be desired, (except for a couple of people) the word frosty comes to mind. Example, we were checking out only had to hand in key, receptionist just said "room number" that's all clear!! No thankyou hope you enjoyed your stay hope to see you again.she couldn't even be bothered to get up out of her chair. We think that all staff need more training, in all departments. Breakfast is ok as long as you get it early as it appears it's left to go cold.the room was ok very spacious but windows were filthy and so was woodwork inside the window. Also going back to restaurant, the waiting time once your order has been taken is far too long, we waited over hour before it finally arrived.this is not very good.resturant was not full at the time, so kitchen needs to be looked at. This hotel has fabulous views, and I'm sure when and if update is achieved it could and should be a pleasure to stay at. We will return but only when we are assured that our concerns have been addressed and can be delivered. We feel that this review is constructive, honest, and that the management take notice.

A "dirty" weekend at the Falmouth Hotel

My partner and I stayed at the Falmouth Hotel on the 11/12th August 2023 and was disappointed to find that the bed sheets had a large number of black hairs on them. Further the room was dirty and had obviously been rushed through in its preparation or been missed altogether. We have complained to the hotel on two occasions and to the owning group, Richardson Hotels without response.

As a wedding photographer

As a wedding photographer, I have had the privilege of capturing many special moments at The Falmouth Hotel and I must say, it is a truly remarkable venue. The hotel offers 71 individual bedrooms with stunning views, making it the perfect destination for a romantic getaway.

As a wedding photographer, I was thoroughly impressed by The Falmouth Hotel's attention to detail and the beautiful spaces available for wedding ceremonies and receptions. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, ensuring that each couple's day was as perfect as they envisioned.
