Using only the chat function excludes many learners who have poor typing skills. It prevents students from developing a relationship with their tutor, which would motivate them to learn and continue with tutoring. The platform requires both tutors and students to write on a digital whiteboard, which is clunky and makes poor handwriting hard to read. I am a professional educator and these methods are not pedagogically sound. It sounds like our school system cheaped out on their students by hiring this company. From reviews online, and my personal suspicions, tutors are likely not based in our county (or in the US), so they don't know the curriculum or any of the online tools that students use. Using FEV tutors is no better than watching a YouTube video for instruction and is absolutely not appropriate for the struggling learners that need tutoring services.

The “tutoring” is simply an individual on the other side asking questions in not just broken English but non understandable English. They use English words but the sentence structure doesn’t make sense and only leaves the students understandably confused and stressed. If the student asks a question, it’s blatantly ignored. The customer service is just as bad. As off as it sounds, they also don’t answer your question but just repeat the question back to you as a statement. It’s bizarre. I believe it’s because they don’t understand English enough to know what’s being asked.

Stay far away from this company. 100% waste of time.

They underpromise on almost everything. The tutoring quality is horrid. They definitely contract tutors from India or something. So it makes sense why only the students can only use audio.

We will be not using them again once our contract is over and move to another provider.
