Beautiful meal and great experience

Four of us dined here today and had such a lovely lunch. The food was beautiful – hot and fresh. We honestly couldn’t fault it and all really enjoyed our meals.
We hadn’t booked, but the manager was so welcoming and went out of his way to find us a table, which we really appreciated. It made such a difference being made to feel welcome straight away. You can tell the place is well run – everything was clean, organised and just felt properly looked after.
The girls serving us were so attentive and really lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will 100% be back. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Shocking Manager Attitude/Behaviour

I recently met up with a couple of friends for a meal and drinks and my review was going to be how we had a pleasant meal and evening although disappointing not to see a vegetarian option available as part of a meal deal. That was going to be my review, however ..........

Unfortunately, a few days following our visit, one of my friends visited the Ffordd Derwen to watch the rugby with her partner, only to find herself accosted by Graham (Manager) who then proceeded to vent at her about our evening visit and in particular about one of the group "holding his staff to ransom with the threat of leaving a negative review" (a complete untruth and of note, Graham, was not working on the evening). The one-sided rant culminated with Graham telling the friend to inform their vegetarian friend that they were no longer to visit the Ffordd Derwen, effectively banning the individual!

I had heard negative comments previously regarding Graham's attitutude to customers such as turning people away because they hadn't reserved a table despite the pub being half-full or empty however chose to make my own opinion.

I will be contacting Head Office and suggesting Graham may benefit from support and refresher training on customer service/care.

I wish you and your team well Graham and would recommend you don't make assumptions about what reviews may be left.

Honestly the worst food I’ve ever had

Honestly the worst customer service and food I’ve ever had. We went on Boxing Day we were the first ones in there and because we booked online we weren’t given menus , she read out the courses we could have. The food came the soup was cold then we had our dinners and you could tell it was microwaved, absolutely disgusting in my opinion none of my family members enjoyed it, then we asked to look at the puddings and got given a menu which the other lady said she didn’t have any! So looking at the menu we could have had some sides which might have been better but they weren’t read out to us at the start, it wasn’t like they were busy as I said we were the first ones in there. The desserts were the only thing edible. Will not to be going back.

Burned food not once but Twice.

I was in there with family who came from South Wales for a few days for a meal. There was 4 of of us. We order our meals and there was only 2 other people in the pub waiting for meals. Yes it took 5 mins short or a hr for our meals to arrive. I will just talk about my meal. I order the gammon. But when it came it was burned. So i called the server over and told her. So she said she would get the chef to cook a fresh one. So i waited around 15mins. And low and behold this one was also burned. Which i also send back. (i think it may have been the same one) Then what i think was the manager on duty at the time came over and asked if i wanted anything instead of it. By this time the family i was with had almost finish their meals. So i said no. . My sister then said to me that the grill needs cleaning. And when i went up to pay i told the guy who came to table about the grill. And he did not take any notice.. It ruined our night. £66 for 3 meals and 4 drinks not value for money by a long way.
