Ripoff Merchants

Airbag warning light and alarm needed addressing on my 2012 Panda. Rockingham Cars Fiat, Rushden charged us to look at it for an hour but needed a second opinion from Rockingham Cars, Corby. Ended up with needing a new control unit for air bag at a cost of £287.87 which apparently took another 5 hours to diagnose with a final bill of £889.78! Absolutely stunned at this as the car is only worth £1500 and I don’t believe they actually worked on the car for that long. This shows a complete disregard for customers budgets and highlights their incompetence. When asking for justification of this, Jason told me that compared to the cost of dental treatment, they were good value!

Absolutely hopeless

Absolutely hopeless.
Contacted Fiat customer service as I had a technical question about specification on my ducato.
Got the usual automated response fairly quickly, so they've invested some money in IT, with a utterly pointless reference number
However, when contact was made to me I was just given the usual fob off response, straight from the top of the how to get the customer off the phone list, with the service assistant, saying they don't have access to the information and I should "try" contacting a dealer and they "may" have the information I'm requesting!
Notwithstanding good luck to actually finding a dealer, Really????
My protests of Fiat being the people that actually made the thing , so they must have the information, fell on deaf ears.
Seems incredible to me that they don't seem to have a system where the can ask the factory

Purchased my car through Glyn Hopkins Fiat in Cambridge - was offered the service plan which I decided to go ahead with as was told that my services would be carried out in Cambridge which is really convenient for me. Received a call to arrange my annual service and was told that this isn't possible under my plan in Cambridge... I was told that the nearest garage is an hour away which is ridiculous! Not a single apology has been given to me. The customer services are so rude, I spoke to Nick and he was not helpful at all. He told me to look up who I needed to contact to take things further by myself as he said he is not sure himself and he would have to look it up if I don't look it up myself... absolute joke! Really not happy and would avoid at all costs!

Bought a pre registered Fiat Panda with 100mls on clock. Firstly was amazed that only one remote key was supplied and the other was a manual key.
Then when I got home I found the manual key did not work! Also the car was handed over in the dark meaning I did not see scratches under driver side door on the sill.
Granted the dealer ( Arnold Clark ) fixed the key and buffed the scratches but the lack of apology or care was shocking.

Fiat Customer Service

I have a Fiat Spider which I love. Even though it was only 5 years old the clutch went. That is where the nightmare began. Trying to get any help from Fiat Customer Services was laborious and useless. My garage, my fiat dealer and I all kept trying to contact them to no avail.
It took a month for my part to be delivered to my garage. They were amazing Fiat Customer Services were not!

Not great customer service

I have an issue with pre-reg vehicle I bought from one of their main dealers. The vehicle was not as described on the Fiat website.
When I asked them about why this would be, they threw a clause at me and accused me of being a liar and still have not answered the question I asked them. Really very bad service

No spare parts, over 6 months waiting

I was in an accidental 6 months ago and my Fiat 500 requires a new bumper and bonnet and is currently not road worthy. There is no delivery date even though it has been 6 months, and when I have contacted customer services they don't care, and refuse to help. However they are churning out new cars all the time, they just can't be bothered to make the spares.

Very poor attitude and penny pinching by Fiat …

I have a Fiat Ducato based motorhome which developed a gearbox fault after only 17000 miles and 42 months ….. I contacted FiatUk to be told I had to take it to a Fiat service agent for repair… the garage advised fitting a new gearbox which cost me just less than £6000 which I paid in full, assuming that I would be given some element of “compensation “ even although the vehicle was out of warranty by 6 months… however in spite of much sympathy and apologetic noises from customer services staff I was faced with almost 4 months of toing and froing during which time I regularly had to correct several errors in Fiats assessments, including their attempt to tell me that the vehicle should have been serviced every 12 months … this in spite of the fact that the service booklet clearly states a service requirement of 24 months intervals! Eventually Fiat offered me 20% “goodwill” payment….a grand total of just under £1200… I feel really let down and badly treated …. Surely a gearbox should last much longer than 17000 miles ! Part of their “justification “ is that I did not have the vehicle serviced by Fiat agents…. Again inaccurate but also irrelevant given the laws around “group exemption “
So should you be in the market for a motorhome I would advise avoiding Fiat… choose Ford or Mercedes ( anything but Fiat!)

I have a Ducato motorhome under…

I have a Ducato motorhome under warranty that has done 2000miles only. I've been told not to drive it due to an engine warning light about a PM sensor (diesel particulate sensor). I've been waiting for 5 weeks for a part now - my case handler says it is on backorder with no due data, and there's nothing more she can do. However, I believe Fiat are still making new vans - so there are parts somewhere. I however spent 80k and can't use mine all summer so far.

No parts in the UK

We own a Fiat 500 Abarth which requires a new front bumper. We have waited 10 weeks already with an initial delivery date of late June. We are now informed middle of August! The car is off the road whilst waiting for the bumper. I called Fiat customer service who don’t give a s**t, they are not based in the UK either. Fiat need to get their act together and start shipping parts to the UK. I have located new bumpers in Holland and Germany, obviously Europe take priority. If that’s the case Fiat needs to pull out of the UK market.

When you call 'complimentary' roadside…

When you call 'complimentary' roadside assistance (if you service your Fiat at the official Fiat garage), then they'll try to make excuses not to help. Such as you are not you and your car does not exist. Because Fiat never bothered to change the number plate from the previous Fiat owner to the new one in their system. Everyone else changed but not Fiat. If they blunder with a simple thing then how can I trust them to service my car? Going elsewhere and you can keep your wrong information forever. Such ignorance is unbelievable. All proof was sent but no reply and ignorance.

Awful Customer Service

Awful, non existent customer service. Never shall I buy another Fiat based on this. I’ve chased them relentlessly for a certificate of conformity for an EU import since the 17/4 and still nothing. They completely ignore you. Atrocious behavior from such a large company. Not as if the certificate is free, it’s not. I have to pay for the privilege of their terrible customer service. Last Fiat I will ever own.

Very Poor Breakdown Assistance

I have a Fiat 500 Lounge. This is my third Fiat car. Had a major flat tyre on the very busy Esher By Pass and unable to make any contact with Fiat for Road Side Assistance via their international assistance number . I am 79 and my wife who was with me is 75. It took us 5 hours or more to get the tyre replaced at an inflated price by a roadside breakdown company. I also tired the Dealership I bought the Fiat from in 2020 but this Dealership had been closed for good which I had not been notified. I have now got to find another Fiat dealership for my next service. Needless to say I will never buy another Fiat. So sad.

Do not buy a FIAT. My commercial van has been in the repair shop for 17 weeks since I purchased it 3 years ago and has cost £5000 to repair so far it is still currently not working and Fiat dont seem to have a clue why - they actually dont care at all so court seems to be the only option save yourself a lot of stress, disappointment time and money and never buy a FIAT

Bought a brand new Tipo Cross from Thames Motor Slough, the car broke down after 2 months, with engine fault. How is that possible? Brand new vehicle! It has been a nightmare for me, worst experience ever, Fiat don’t seem to care! What sort of customer service is that! I’m filling a complaint to Motor Ombudsman!

Fiat does not stand by their vehicles

Fiat does not stand by their vehicles. Our car became inoperable due to a safety recall. We were not the original owners, but Fiat had all of our information. They informed me that it was OUR responsibility to seek out potential recalls! Seriously?!?! We called to try to figure Out how to have this vehicle fixed because the closest dealership is nearly 150 miles away. We were given a case number and informed that someone will call us within 24 hours. I contacted them 48 hours later at that point was told that the case had not been reassigned but it would be up to four days. More than a week later I finally called back. I was notified by that extraordinarily unprofessional and unpleasant associate that not only was the case not reassigned but it was not going to be because it simply wasn’t important enough. And then he informed me that Fiat would do absolutely nothing to help us. And when I say nothing to help us that even included allowing our local mechanic to order the parts necessary to do this recall fix, even though we knew that we would be paying for everything out of pocket. The complete lack of common-sense was astonishing to say the least. Right now car dealers may have the ‘upper hand’, but that will certainly not always be the case. We will certainly never be purchasing a Fiat or Chrysler vehicle again… EVER.
