Disappointed

Disappointed despite phone calls that things are slow and unclear. Hope to get there in the end but much more stressful than needs to be. It's not a cheap or efficient service.

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed to read your comments, particularly regarding the efficiency and value of our service, and we would genuinely like the opportunity to investigate the circumstances behind them.

We contacted you privately through Trustpilot's internal system asking for information that would allow us to identify you and the property or transaction concerned. Unfortunately, you chose not to provide this, which means we have been unable to establish which transaction your comments relate to or investigate the issues you have raised.

We take our service standards extremely seriously and, when concerns are raised, we believe it is important to establish the facts and give our team the opportunity to understand what has happened and, where appropriate, put things right.

We are therefore more than happy to discuss your concerns, but we do need to know which property or transaction they relate to. We would invite you to contact us directly so that we can investigate properly and respond to the specific points you have raised.

Until then, it is unfortunately impossible for us to comment meaningfully on the circumstances behind this review.

Service ok …

We initially contacted Fife Properties to manage our property in St Andrews. The staff were very diligent and provided a high stand of service. Over the last 2 years I feel there has been a dip in the service we receive. We are very responsive landlords, however the letting agent dealing with our property doesn’t seem to be able to conduct basic trouble shooting before contacting us. I would have expected this so that we then had established it was a plumber/ engineer call out. Unfortunately, most emails sent have a copy and paste description from the tenants request. The font is also tiny!
I think I would feel better if an agent could contact us and say we have tried a couple of things and the property will need a tradesmen. I’ve also had to chase up tradesmen reports to find out what’s actually wrong. Overall a decent service but not as good as at the start of our contract with them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed and constructive feedback, and also for your positive comments about the service you received from us initially.

We are, however, disappointed to hear that you feel the level of service has declined over the last two years. The standard you describe from the beginning of our relationship is the standard we aim to provide consistently, so it is important that we understand where your recent experience has fallen short.

Your point regarding maintenance enquiries is particularly helpful. We agree that, wherever reasonably possible, some initial troubleshooting and information gathering should take place before simply passing a tenant’s request to a landlord. The purpose should be to help establish the likely issue and allow you to make an informed decision about whether a tradesperson needs to attend.

Likewise, you should not have to repeatedly chase for reports or updates following a contractor’s visit. We will review this internally with our Lettings Team.

We’ve also taken on board your comment about the formatting and font size of the emails – sometimes it’s the seemingly small things that can make a real difference to the customer experience.

Thank you for being a long-standing client and for raising these points. Rather than simply responding to your review, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly, look at the specific examples you have mentioned and see what we can do to get your experience back to the standard you received from us at the outset.

We have managed this property since 2017 with no major issues. As soon as you decided to sell the property and serve notice on the tenant this frustrated the contract with them and left us with an untenable position with the tenant which lead to their non payment of rent. If you hadn't done this I'm sure sure they would still be paying. As a group we have an excellent track record with over 600 of our landlords, sellers, buyers and tenants giving us a rating of over 98% approval. https://platform.theestas.com/reviews/697

It's not a review that we like to hear but rest assured I will look into this when I'm back from annual leave. It certainly doesn't align with our existing customers who have rated us 98.5% in over 600 reviews. Jim Parker Managing Director

Five star standard ...

Five star standard .... Fife Properties could not have been better. I would recommend them highly. Special mention should be made for Ann-Marie and Sophie but all staff were very professional and provided a fantastic service. Buying in Scotland, moving from England was not an easy process but Fife Properties made it seamless. I cannot say more about them and we were very happy with their service

Dreadful customer service...don't care…

Dreadful customer service...don't care about the buyer once an offer is accepted. Poor communication. If left with a choice of Fife Properties or anyone else I'd recommend anyone else! Interesting that you blame me ( apparently because of who I worked for at the time) for the comments and lack of communication from your staff. Just accept you did a poor job.

Considering you work for a rival Estate Agent I would have expected you to know that we can only accommodate you within our customer and their solicitors approval. This was clearly explained to you and you know when solicitors are involved you need to go through them to request access and they then instruct us. With regard to the other issues again out of our control and you know this but are blaming us. Jim Parker Managing Director.

Thank you Jeanie, We take things like this very seriously and have tried to advise you in the past surrounding the ongoing situation and despite you not being a client, tenant or indeed and direct neighbour relating to any of Fife Properties tenancies the team have so far done all in our power to assist you.

As explained to you on several occasions any actions involving criminal behaviour will need to be reported to the relevant law enforcements and a crime reference number obtained. As a managing agent we cannot enforce action without this crime number being issues by Police Scotland.

I appreciate that you have sent over numerous pictures, videos and messaged but again you should be reporting these accusations of a criminal behaviour. If indeed these accusations are legitimate then Police Scotland will record them as such and we in turn can act upon them accordingly.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that all communication with Fife Properties staff members should be done in a respectful and courteous manner without the use of profanity.

Poor customer relations

Had to collect keys for a property I purchased. After driving for 2 hours I was refused permission to use their toilet. The reason being they are not allowed since COVID, & anyway they have a lot of personal items in the toilet. I am 67 years of age & can hardly walk waiting on a hip replacement. I had to leave there & go somewhere else park then hobble to the toilets in Tesco. I don't know what was being implied by the personal items in their toilet perhaps I looked like a thief. Thank you very much Fife Properties for your caring attention.

Thank you for your recollection of the events Margo. All I can say is due to data protection issues, as we have lots of protected data on our walls in our staff offices which you would have to walk through, combined with the staff leaving their personal items in the W.C. It was not possible to accommodate you on this occasion. However the Co-op supermarket next door and the public toilets across the road should have been more than appropriate for you to use. It's a great opportunity for us to improve though in our customer service so we can continue to retain the No.1 Estate Agent in Fife and Scotland for the 5th year running as voted by our customers. I can only sympathise with your situation. There is a crisis in the Private Rented Sector with landlords leaving the sector, the council not building enough social housing and this is restricting the supply of homes available for rent. Every letting agent is getting around 50 enquiries for every property and they simply do not have the resources to get back to everyone if the property in question already has good quality tenants lined up. Again I am sorry for your situation and we aren't able to meet your expectations as a perspective tenant on this occasion. Hopefully the Government will build enough homes so everyone can have a decent home that is affordable in the future.

Be aware before engaging with this…

Be aware before engaging with this company. Unfortunately, I engaged in their assistance in the sale of my home. Professionalism is not a keyword with Fife Properties and found them less than trustworthy. On several occasions they told me my house was sold and even placed a sold sticker on the saleboard for many weeks, when it wasn't.... Eventually they were instructed to withdraw as my agents. The house sold swiftly afterwards with a more experienced and dedicated team of personnel from another agency.

Will this be as a result of the court granting a decree in our favour for fees you tried to avoid for is selling your house. Of course I'll let the 370 other customers do the talking for us who gave us a 98.3% approval rating https://www.theestas.com/reviews/697

Very poor response from this company…

Very poor response from this company regarding their problem tenants. I noticed in reply to another comment that "We're able to screen out problematic tenants at the early stages and look after our landlords investment." Seem that is not always the case. When tenant turns out to be problematic they initially respond promising 'the issue will be dealt with as a matter of urgency' ( sept 2022) and then it seems ignore all attempts at contact. Their messy tenants that have left a common entrance hallway to a property I let out looking like a slum. Not responding to issues is very unprofessional and rather disapointing. I have written a final email to their property 'management' agent In the hope I can raise them. After 7 months the issue still pervades. I wish to work with them proactively to remedy this issue. In the meantime I have a property empty and have an issue with letting till the mess ( white goods and building materials ) is cleared. If someone from fifeproperties is reading this I urge you to contact and/or meet with me regarding this. Not replying to emails and phonecalls will not do. I HAVE NO CHOICE than to resolve this issue one way or other, it is causing me loss of income and effecting my sleep. If no response I will have to take things further.

Very poor - liars

Very poor. dishonest company that will lie about offers and string clients along. Details-we were told we were only ones applied for a rental then after a wasted week then told they had many offers so conflicting stories. Shady marketing techniques, employees seem friendly but their marketing from the owner is poor and leave a bad taste. I would avoid this company to any serious renter or buyer as the owner will lie about offers and that is worrying for buyers. Beware they delete facebook reviews also , google fife properties reviews and youl see many with issues.

Bad company to deal with, listen to others before tenants.

Had the privilege of using this company, will never use them again. Reported issues often with the property and nothing was getting done. We had leaks in the bathroom from the shower(which was over 30 yrs old and was still original), the windows were blown and had been replaced and had gone again. The property needed upgrading as was still original, the front door swelled when it rained. The girl who came out to do the inspections said if anything was to be done, the landlord would put the rent up. He did when he put the kitchen in during lockdown which should never have happened as we were in a national lockdown and tradesmen should not have been working! We therefore had no cooking facilities for a month, all because the fitter skipped everything. The fitter then advised fife properties, we had told him to skip them, when as it was lockdown we were not allowed to be in the property! We had to buy takeaways until until they fitted a hob. Then another 2 wks before an oven was fitted. Advised to withhold rent to compensate for the takeaways from shelter Scotland. We left the property and they have managed to keep money off our deposit for the money we withheld. So folks, if this happens to you, they win everytime and you will not win! When we complained and asked to speak to a manager, no one contacted us. We were told to deal with the girls in the office even though we asked to speak to a manager above them. Yet when they had to make a decision, they had to get authorisation from their manager! Will never use this company again.
