£5,000 Quote for “We’re Not Sure”

I had my car taken to this garage by recovery due to starting issues and a suspected DPF problem. I clearly explained everything in advance and was told they would carry out a diagnostic the same day and update me with the findings and repair cost.
Instead, it took 2 weeks to get any response. When they finally got back to me, they admitted they were not sure what the issue was, despite claiming only 2 hours of diagnostic work during that entire period.
Even worse, they suggested a “trial-and-error” repair costing around £5,000, with no guarantee it would fix the problem.
I declined and asked to pay only for the diagnostic so I could take my car elsewhere. At that point:
They tried to charge more than their advertised diagnostic price
They provided no proper diagnostic report, only an invoice
After paying, I went to collect my car and what I found was shocking.
The vehicle was left dismantled, parts not put back together, and some components appeared damaged. I handed over a complete car and received it back in pieces.
When I asked them to reassemble it, the owner was rude, aggressive, and intimidating, demanding more money to put back parts they had removed themselves. Communication throughout was highly unprofessional, including swearing and dismissive behaviour.
This experience has been:
*2 weeks wasted
*No clear diagnosis
*Unreasonable repair approach
*Car returned damaged and incomplete
*Extremely poor and aggressive customer service.
I also noticed from other reviews that the business tends to respond by presenting themselves as professional while shifting blame onto customers. Based on my experience, I would take those responses with caution and not rely on them as a true reflection of what actually happens.
I regret not reading the reviews beforehand , now I fully understand what others have experienced.
Avoid this place at all costs.

Very Disappointed

Very Disappointed

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this garage. I visited twice to fix a specific problem with my car, but instead of properly diagnosing and repairing the issue, they simply scanned the fault code and reset it — something I could have done myself using my own OBD2 scanner.

Despite spending almost £800, the original problem was never fixed and the fault came back again shortly after. Each visit resulted in new unexpected issues being mentioned rather than resolving the reason I initially went there.

As a customer, I expected professional diagnosis and a permanent solution, not repeated resets and additional costs without results.

I would strongly advise others to be cautious and seek a second opinion before agreeing to expensive repairs here. Unfortunately, my experience was a waste of time and money.

Avoid avoid avoid.

They tried charging my girlfriend £70 extra for her service. When she asked to see the invoice they then “realised” they had put something on twice. This additional cost was changing her windscreen wipers as they were “extremely worn out”. Little did they know I had changed them a month earlier.
So disappointing as while she was picking up her car the mechanic was discussing his daughter learning to drive… I hope she doesn’t get the same sexist treatment from someone else.

Had mot booked for 8am after waiting for 10 minutes for the tester to arrive was told the diesel machine was broken. I said why didn't you contact me to save me a journey he said he hoped it was going to work. Can't comment on their work, but unprofessional to say the least. I will not use them again.

Clowns de partie!

I can’t put it into words how dubious this garage is , a bunch of drunken hillbillies came together in their delusions to create what they think is a garage

They make up their own charges , they know nothing about vehicles and when they can’t fix your car , they remove stuff from the engine and send you on a wild goose chase

Don’t even think of taking your vehicle there!

Avoid it

Avoid it. We left our Audi there as we had a problem with AdBlue. Car was for one week at their garage. They said they will call us, they never did. We called them few times and were constantly lied by them. When my husband went to pick up the car, car was in the same place where we left it. They haven't done anything. What a complete waste of time. So many stars on different review pages is complete scam.

Had a terrible experience here

Had a terrible experience here, was harassed and treated terribly. The owner was incredibly hostile and aggressive and he was trying to take advantage financially saying to would cost over double what it cost else where. Very misogynistic and racist experience.

Absolutely terrible service

The owner Daniel was very rude and asking inappropriate questions. He tried to threaten me. He refused to let me wait in the waiting room, and questioned whether I was an adult. He refused to let me leave even when I politely asked to do so. Absolutely horrible service, I've never felt so scared or intimidated in my life

MOT experience

I took my car to fir tree auto centre on Saturday the 11th of march for an MOT which it had failed. They said that they had to do welding on the car and fix a headlight. I was told that i would have my car ready by Monday. I called on Monday, they then said that I wouldn’t have my car until Tuesday lunchtime. I called them on Tuesday lunchtime, they said i then wouldn’t have my car until Wednesday lunchtime as they had booked me a slot for Wednesday morning to do the welding work. On Wednesday Lunchtime, they told me to call back at 2pm for an update on the car. We called back at 2pm and they said the car wouldn’t be ready until 4.30pm. We went to pick the car up at 4.30pm and the car still was not ready until 5pm. Also, the MOT advisory for the car said that I had a nail in my near side rear tire, which i went to a different garage to fix and they told me there was no nail in the car, it was a stone.

Do not use Fir Tree Autos West Drayton- dishonest

Gave my car to this garage as they seemed reputable, had lots of affiliations etc and was AA approved (turns out some of the affiliate logos are fake!!) Engine management light came on, called AA who ran diagnostic, turns out air intake leak. Other than that, my 2012 plate Mercedes with 68k on the clock was absolutely fine. They apparently carried out some work, not what I asked they fix, claimed the car was fixed, gave it back 4 days later with Engine management light still on, decided not to let them anywhere near my car again, took to Mercedes who diagnosed a split air intake pipe split which cost £15 and £99 for the diagnostic. Do not use this garage, they are fraudsters! I am not sure if they were genuinely incompetent or deliberately dishonest by carrying out totally unnecessary work! I think the latter.
