The Motley Stool more like

The Motley Fool subscription service is not worth 5 pence. Hows these financial journalists can earn from writing dishonest drivel is beyond me. Subscription cancelled.

Motley Share Adviser Fool

motley fool uk share advisor
I have had a long Subscription with Motley Fool but with Covid and the loss of job and my mum passing, I haven't used the service. So I decided not to renew at this time as my mind is in brain fog. I was under the impression my subscription had ended on the 9th March, 2021. I had not used the service or been on the site for some time. Finally being able to cope with things and checking my bank account I found the amount of the subscription had been taken out. I have emailed Motley as they would be aware I have not used the service since before my subscription ended and asked for them to please reimburse my money. It is not a large sum but to myself it is large. I will keep you updated as to the response I receive from Motley. They seem a pretty decent bunch of people so I don't see any problems Thanks for listening I will post their response Cheers John

Good website.

I signed up to fool as a new investor. I like how I can see a list of buy and sell stocks. There are weekly buy recommendations as well. Overall I think it’s a good site. It is recommended by other established financial websites.
It wasn’t suited to me as a new investor as the recommendations was not available on the simple platforms I am using. I requested my money back within the 30 day cooling off period. They promptly responded and returned my money.
I will definitely come back to fool when I am a more seasoned investor.
Fool on!

Is social media secure or just another route to identity theft

Motley fool via mywallethero provide a list of share dealing accounts for comparison. The one of most interest to me was Freetrade. My interest soon became concern. They provide no e-mail contact, so I checked their ratings on Trustpilot to find numerous comments and poor ratings from people saying there is little or no customer service. I was going to e mail Motley Fool and say somewhere in their rating customer service should exist and prior to promoting any company they should first look at Trustpilot reviews. Alas however, in days of identity theft when we are advised not to put our information out in public, it appears social media is the only way to contact Motley Fool.

Good advice = good gains

Had considerable gain from listening to their basic service advice, well worth the investments trebling my investment over 12 months and missing out on more by not listening. Thank you Motley team.

What’s been good about Motley Fool

I had a question about services at the beginning of January 2021. They found me a more efficient way of paying subscriptions and retrospectively returned £1500. Totally unexpected. That’s why I’m driven to write this and tell my story. I’m not alone; it’s just we don’t often take time to tell the good stories.

Following Motley Fool advice in the UK and US since 2012 has been very successful for me. About 20% of my stocks are 10-30 baggers and a similar number have tanked. I am not advised (other than by Motley Fool) or trained. I have a full time job but manage my own SIPP. In the beginning I spent time learning the history and checking MF advice. Now I t’s a few hours a week sometimes to get confidence and then I buy what they recommend when I have the money. I correlate UK and US selections. Along the way companies like Spotify, Mercadolibre, Amazon, Google, Tesla, Zillow, Zoom, Baidu, NXP have come my way The BlastOff portfolio is one I now follow. It’s done well since it’s started.

Picking shares with a pin would have…

Picking shares with a pin would have given me a better chance of making money than following the recommendations from their Share Advisor service. Many of the updates are just outdated regurgitations of recommendations from a few years ago with no commentary on what is still valid and what isn't. Save your money or join the US version where they have a much better success rate.

Sub-par customer service and lack of professionalism to email service

I fell in love with the American Motley Fool podcast about 12 months ago. Their open, honest reviews and their belief in long term investing set them apart from other investment advisors.

Unfortunately, the UK branch is a different beast..
My experience has been marred with disappointing customer service and an horrendous spam email system. The titles of their emails read like a buzzfeed post. This week I have recieved 8 emails including "Your savings are about to expire!", and "Yesterday we revealed this stock market secret, did you see it?". These click bait attempts are what you would expect from a side advert on facebook rather than a professional investment advisor. Worst of all, it sets the tone for the rest of the article..

I came in ready to love Motley Fool UK but was quickly whittled down to writing a poor review. (That said, I still highly recommend the US Motley Fool podcast)
