Finally got the piercing I wanted
Saw Kat Swanton yesterday, Sunday 5 July 2026, (thanks for working on a Sunday!) to have my ear pierced.
It was an absolutely stunning experience. I was so very excited and Kat’s calm demeanour kept me from going over-board, her knowledge is extensive and her patience unending. I had a helix piercing, a first for me and the first piercing since I had my lobes done in 1977. Felt the needle going in but not the ear-ring and it was done quickly and exactly the way I wanted it, placed exactly where I wanted it. I absolutely adore it, it’s the best thing ever, and I will be back for further piercings.
Forest is easily accessible, just off Sauchiehall street in the centre of Glasgow (a bus stop for the bus that I use is literally at the door).
Kat explained how to keep my piercing clean very clearly and made sure that I understood that I can contact Forest at any time with any questions that I might have. I have actually done this in the past and found it to be true, emails are answered. Kat wasn’t afraid to say that one of the piercings that I wanted would not work with my anatomy and immediately suggested an alternative. That’s what I require in a professional in any industry, frankly, but most especially in the piercing industry.
I was happy to agree to have one ‘easy’ piercing to see how I go and was offered the chance to upgrade my jewellery to something else if I wanted to but I was happy to keep with the titanium stud, flat back - my first experience with a flat back.
Kat even thought to suggest the larger can of sterile saline in case it takes me a little longer to heal.
I filled out a consent form, one of the questions was what gender I thought I was and my preferred pronouns, which is a great idea.
I’m so happy to have found a piercing only company as I don’t feel comfortable going into a tattoo parlour - nothing against tattoos or tattoo parlours, I hasten to add, I just don’t feel comfortable walking into one (I’m probably far too nosy and would want to see everybody’s tattoo and ask questions about them, I do find tattoos fascinating and watch tattoo shows on TV) - and I very much enjoyed being the only person in the studio at the time.
In short, I recommend Forest highly. If you want pierced go and see them, they do have a walk in Saturday so you don’t need an appointment.
