I am writing to express my concern…

I am writing to express my concern regarding the quality of customer service. I have experienced unprofessional behavior from staff, including a lack of clear responses to questions and instances where patients appear to be ignored.

I kindly ask you to look into this matter and take appropriate action to improve the service.

Negligence and harassment at Fortis Hospital - suboptial treatment

I visited Fortis Hospital at Mulund Mumbai twice while I was based at Nahur, Mumbai Maharasthra 400078. I visited as it was only 1 km from my location. I had a terrible and nasty experience twice - during May/June and December 2203 and during follow-ups calls for claims in January 2024. Services are terrible and staff if very rude including very arrogant doctors. I am personally myself much more qualified than doctors there having studies, worked and researched across the globe at various countries spread across different continents such as India, S.Korea, USA, UK, Brazil, Egypt etc. I am a environmental sustainability research with focus on health impacts of air pollution and public health.

I consulted first normal OPD with Dr Mitul Shah (Cardiologist) and later visited emergency department of hospital. I believe that a sensible and experience doctor first carefully listens to patient and any medical history of patient incluidng their past treatments, symptoms, side-effects and vulnerabilities of patients. However, when I explained it to this doctor - cardiologist - Dr Mitul then he insulted me saying that I am a doctor and not other way round. I felt insulted as I am myself much more experienced as well then him and he should have been more patient.

Later I had persistent chest pain and had to visit emergency department of same fortis hospital. They hardly did comprehensive checkups with indequate prescription and on the top of it made a huge bill in just 1 hours stay there. There were not at all responsive when I was asking for an early discharge as I wasn't diagnosed with anything major and doctor himself said that you don't have any severe life-threatening issue but they were delaying my discharge so that they can make fat and huge bill. They made a first bill of over Rs 15000 which was totally illogical and inappropriate as if they are not to serve but to mint money from patient. Moreover, they should have given some indication of costs before making a huge bill. They did not even shared an invoice which I could have used for claims and in fact my claim was denied becuse they said my discharge summary did not contain essential details such as invoice number. I kept on chasing the hospital through calls, but they were not responsive until 1 month and I felt harassed as it took me three hours to repeat same story of getting clarification on "invoice number" to over 10 staff members in call center. Call center kept me ON HOLD for long hours and transferred to different departments and none of which provided adequate response. I felt harassed and have lost my peace of mind and all this nasty experience has affected my mental wellbeing for several days. I won't recommend this hospital to anyone if you come across this review at all! I would rather suffer with a disease than visiting them in future. Despite all this I never got my claims. I would suggest them to relook, reimagine and introspect to make it better as people don't pay hefty bills to be mistreated and for such negligence which is worse than even government hospitals.

" Great experience. Excellent staff, highly knowledgeable and very friendly.”

There is a big difference between fortis and other hospital. In other hospital you were waiting a long queue in reception, and waiting for doctors availability, but in fortis hospital there are many couters for visitors and doctors always available. Staffs are also very cooperative. Fortis save many life, some people which have no money so fortis also save their life without paying any charges. Fortis also open medical shop in their hospital to get immediate medicine for patient.
