European small

The bathroom door has to be closed in order to use the toilet. The heater didn't work, the tv in the next room did not work
The breakfast was OK but not great. Ana was the highlight server. I would not recommend this hotel.

I loved the location of the hotel

I loved the location of the hotel, the bus stop is just outside where all the trips start. Staff were amazing, especially shift manager Barbara, she can go an extra mile as nothing is too much for her. The breakfast buffet has excellent choice. I would highly recommend this hotel because of how attentive reception staff are towards the public.

This hotel uses dodgy tour companies…

This hotel uses dodgy tour companies who steal your money. The tour company won’t refund me my money, said whoever you booked through should - that’s the hotel and they won’t either! They booked the tour. It was them I paid. No refunds! Day ruined, holiday and birthday ruined. One hell of an expensive trip when what you planned to do, never happened!!

Looking at reviews on other sites Grayline Coaches often don’t pick people up and keep their money. Why is a good hotel selling tours with a company who rips people off???

So my holiday was ruined because I waited outside in -7 for an hour for a coach which never came. I was early. So I never got to do the excursion I pre booked. I was only there 2 full days, 3 nights and only got to actually do 1 of the 2 prebooked trips. Holiday ruined. Birthday ruined. They kept my money. Outrageous! I was promised a refund on the phone. Now refused. THEFT!

You can no longer get into your room until 3pm. Not how it was before. They no longer clean your room either - they call this environmentally friendly. The tv had less UK channels than 4 years ago - hope you like channel 4. They can’t even provide secure storage for your luggage or somewhere to change into your warmer clothes when you can’t get in your room when you arrive so you can at least enjoy a few hours before it gets dark. I checked out at 7am. So why can’t you get a room before 3? When you’ve had no sleep and left home very early, that’s not funny. They used to leave nice things to eat in the foyer. Again, nope, not anymore. They don’t even change your towels. I found the maid and swapped the towels myself. They were dirty after I had used them to mop up a spill myself. 4 star hotel and you have to service the room yourself! Really??!!!!

First day I could sit where I wanted at breakfast, the next I was told where to sit which I hated. Maybe I don’t want to sit next to someone coughing their guts up or right next to the coffee machine!!

This is Fosshotel Reykjavík. Fours star hotel!

I wouldn’t go there again. A four star hotel shouldnt sell you trips with dodgy companies and keep your money. I paid for something I never got. THEFT! They said I’d get a refund, but when it comes down to it you don’t and then they tell you to go away.

The holiday cost me an arm and a leg and was ruined because of them. The icing on the cake was NO Refund. It was the most exhausting trip I’ve done. You go to bed at 1am after the northern lights trip and you have to be at the bus stop for 8am waiting for your bus which fail to collect you. It’s the same everyday. You get no sleep.

You now have to pay a tourist tax too when you check in. Wasn’t aware of that.

My first holiday since Covid and it was the worst holiday I have ever had! Food and drink is extortionate too.

I’ve never ever been sitting in my room in tears on holiday before with nothing to do.

Complete expensive disaster. It’s going to take me months to pay it off. MY ADVICE - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

AND THERES A LOVELY SEX SHOP WITH ALL SORTS IN THE WINDOW 2 mins away!

Cheers Fosshotel!

amazing hotel

We stayed in the Foss Hotel Reykjavík and it is a fantastic hotel. The staff were friendly and the hotel itself is lovely. It’s clean and quiet. It is in a great location in the centre of the city and all our excursions picked us up right outside the hotel. It is a short walk (<5 mins) to the Main Street in the city. The buffet breakfast was lovely.
The only downside was we booked a twin room and it was basically two single mattresses on a double bed frame meaning it felt like we were sharing a bed. Other than that the room was spacious and clean. Would have been 5 stars if the beds were separate as that’s why we booked a twin.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant as there were so many amazing placing close by we wanted to experience.
Added bonus we saw the volcano erupt from our hotel room.
Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stayed at Fosshotel Reykjavik…

I stayed at Fosshotel Reykjavik with a friend for a week as we were on vacation and loved our experience. Staff is courteous, friendly and accommodating. I appreciated that the hotel rooms are spacious and just a short walk from the city center and the famous restaurant Hamburgerfactory (Íslenska Hamborgarafabrikkan). The hotel is also right in front of bus stop 12, which means moving around is fairly easy. If you rent a car there is a garage undur the hotel. My best recommendation.
