Found that the person that I spoke with to be very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and addressed a few concerns.

This is the third pair of glasses I've ordered from them. The first two were fine. Different story with the latest pair. After only a month, the coating or film started to come off one of the lenses. Things got worse and the other lens started to exhibit the same problem in the next month. I contacted Frames Direct. In response to their request, I sent them two clear photos of the lens and what appears to be an obvious defect. They once again insisted I return the glasses to them to verify the problem. Despite explaining to them that I need the glasses to drive and can't return them without a replacement pair, they insisted I send them back anyway. When I asked what I should do for glasses if I return my one pair, the person replied that I "should buy a second pair from us." Are you serious? Is this what they refer to as "easy and worry-free exchanges"? Be forewarned: they're good to deal with until you have a problem.

This is the third pair of frames I have bought from Frames Direct. The have fast service, great selection and good prices. Customer service has always been wonderful.

Good past experience

First time buying here. I got the best deal from all over the internet. I even got it cheaper than those posted used in poshmark. Great genuine quality with all of its accesories and they offer great insurance for an extra $35 to add peace of mind on your item. Thank you guys!

The order process was easy and I received my frames within about 10 days. I never received a notice that the frames were shipped or a tracking number. When I logged into my account, I could see that the frames were shipped but no tracking number or status updates were provided. The link to check the shipping status did not work. it would have been nice to know when the order was shipped and to be able to track it.

I got these for my husband go valentine day. He loves them. I’m thinking about getting me a pair.

I live in a state that exempts prescription eyewear from sales tax. Glasses I buy locally and from other online retailers have never been charged sales tax. I started an order on framesdirect.com and only at the final step of the checkout do they add sales tax and shipping charge. Previous to checking out neither charge is shown in the shopping cart. I emailed them asking about the sales tax, wondering why nobody else charges it but them and got a terse canned response basically telling me to take it or leave it. I also checked their BBB complaints and a common complaint is that they list frames as in stock but when an order is actually placed things suddenly become unavailable or backordered. But more disturbing is if you dare to dispute a charge with your bank or credit card they will summarily and gleefully cancel your account and refuse to even talk to you about any issue. I get a very scammy vibe especially from the BBB complaints. They don't like it when people complain, and they expect you to just accept their scammy practices without question.

Update 2/25/26: As you can see, Framesdirect responded to my review. However they did not actually address my main issue. Here is the releveant Tennessee statute that clearly says sales tax cannot be charged to the patient purchasing prescription eyeglasses:

(a) An optometrist, optician or ophthalmologist shall be considered the user and consumer of the tangible personal property used in the practice of the optometrist's, optician's or ophthalmologist's profession, and the tax levied under this chapter is not applicable to all or any part of the charge made by such persons to their patients.

Directly from the statute:

"the tax levied under this chapter is not applicable to all or any part of the charge made by such persons to their patients."

That is why when I buy prescription glasses from my local CostCo and WalMart in Tennessee, targetoptical.com and glasses.com, I've never been charged sales tax. It's also very interesting that TargetOptical.com and Glasses.com, like Framesdirect.com, are owned by EssilorLuxottica. Maybe Framesdirect should consult with their corporate brethren (or EssilorLuxottica) to understand why they abide by the laws of Tennessee and DON'T charge sales tax to customers in Tennessee. I would also think that EssilorLuxottica would be concerned that one of their companies is violating the law. Framesdirect is fraudulently passing sales tax on to the patient/customer that is expressly forbidden by the statute. This is clearly illegal. Don't bother to respond any further. Between the fraudulent sales tax and selling products they don't actually have in stock, I will never buy from Framesdirect anyway. I'm just trying to warn people about them.

Affordable, quality, name brand prescription sunglasses. Only issue was the frames need a slight adjustment.

02/17/26 I ordered new frames because my eye doctor's office no longer carried the frames I have used for a least 5 years. The frames were easy to order and arrived as indicated by the confirmation email. They fit just fine.
