Fix the UI please

decent shows but absolute garbage UI even on PC. Had resolution problems when attempting to cast to tv while still using animelab but since its all funimation now basically all functionality has become poor and buggy. The UI on Animelab at least was an enjoyable experience whereas transitioning to the funimation system has been nothing but hassle after hassle. A shame because they hold the rights to so many wonderful IPs but still make an overall garbage watching experience

Terrible store functionality, and possibly worse customer service

I pre-ordered an anime while it was clearly listed as "in-stock" on Funimation's store page. A week after the anime was scheduled to release, I noticed my order had still been "Processing", so I submitted a contact form to inquire on the status. 24 hours later, I get an email saying my order was canceled successfully, but it provided no explanation as to why, and I had not initiated a cancelation myself. After 3 business days, I sent an email to Funimation support, as I STILL had not received a response from my first contact form. Their site advises a 48hour response turnaround. 3 business days later from that, someone finally replies and concurs that the cancelation was processed successfully, then asks if the cancelation was intentional (of course not that's why I asked why it was canceled). The experience goes on, but in all I sent in 5 original contact attempts, 3 of which actually got a reply from customer service, and none ever responded back to any replies I submitted. Customer service doesn't seem to actually listen to your written concerns, and it's extremely difficult to get in touch with anyone. As far as their store page, it seems so counterintuitive for a business that can pay to merge with Crunchyroll, but can't format a store item to change to "out of stock" once their stock is accounted for, rather than take money from a customer before they have even checked that order could be fulfilled. You can count on me never purchasing anything from them again, no matter how exclusive their products may be.

This is hands down the worst Apple TV…

This is hands down the worst Apple TV app. You cannot even call it a streaming service. Videos go black and don’t load, there is no way to tell what episodes are new or when new ones will be available. You just click randomly and hope for the best..

ABSOLUTE SCAM

I've spent hundreds of dollars buying the digital copies, DVDs, and Blu-Ray versions of my animes. On the digital copy slip it says that by redeeming the code I will be able to download my episodes on my devices to watch offline. Even on their website it says that I can do so. But when I actually try to download the episodes it pulls up a pop up that says that "DOWNLOAD IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO PREMIUM PLUS SUBSCRIBERS".

And when I try to watch using Wifi it still gives me ads. It's like me buying a Disney DVD from Walmart, getting ads throughout the movie, and it telling me that I have to have a Disney+ account to not receive ads.

What's the point of spending so much money on these "special features" if I have to have a monthly "premium plus subscription" to use it? I'm no better than a free user at this point despite how much I've spent. Even on my digital copy slip, it does not mention or have anything in fine print that I need a subscription to access the features it advertises. It's an absolute scam. I've reached out to Funimation multiple times and they told me that even with the digital codes, I can't download or watch my shows ad free without a subscription.

"If you have a FREE or a subscriber Funimation account, you can DOWNLOAD a video that is available for downloading by REDEEMING THE DIGITAL CODE on top of being able to stream it."

Awful website

Website does not work and videos are unwatchable on it. App also does not work, crashes, and lags. Ads are unreasonably long and unskippable. It says it has a whole anime available then asks you to pay to watch the rest after you’ve watched a few episodes - this is very dishonest. Avoid giving any money to this useless service.

Just bad. Giving up.

Well, all I can say is that I am glad I started out on the free trial period - there is no way that I will be paying for a subscription to watch anime on this site.
I really wanted to watch the Demon Slayer movie - navigating the site to find it was enough of a pain, and when I found it, after many attempts at trying to stream it, I am giving up. Firstly it took ages to load, the resolution was terrible (I had to go into settings and change it from the 'auto' option), and then it basically just... didn't stream. I'd get a crappy minute out of it at best. No, it's not my internet connection. Also I've tried on multiple days to get it working. After checking out what other people had to say, apparently this experience is now the rule, not the anomoly.
Sort it out.

tried to enjoy funimation but cant cancelled subscription. i have been an avid fan of animelab for a very long time, which has a very simple and easy interface with no problems streaming. funimation is the opposite. subscription was a nightmare, streaming drops out continually and the menu is over complicated making it difficult to navigate. i am so angry about the merge leave animelab in australia and just source the content.

Funimation is awful. RIP Animelab

Its bad enough the funimation platform is utterly terrible, but why did you have to take away Animelab which was my only happy place. Please try to fix the multitude of reasonable complaints that reviewers have mentioned prior to my post.

Can't even log in

Recently, Funimation and AnimeLab have merged together, and I got an email telling me that my AnimeLab account will work for Funimation, too. However, when I log in, it tells me that my password is not strong enough, and makes me change it. When I try to change it, it never lets me, even though it meets all the criteria. A message on the screen simply says that there was an error changing my password. I've even changed my password for my AnimeLab account, but the changes don't seem to carry over to Funimation. I'm very disappointed as I was excited to watch the new seasons of shows that had not yet been introduced to AnimeLab.

Broken

Funimation has a fantastic amount of anime on their site, but their tech is beyond pathetic and has made me actually rage when trying to watch something. Simply put, their website is unresponsive and a joke, but their launcher for watching the actual shows is invariably broken and often prevents you from watching with "not available in your region" being a common sight for something you've been watching just because you want to change the audio back to japanese (which is the only way you've watched it so far). The developers that made this piece of garbage must have done a 1 week course in javascript or something, truly awful!

AVOID - Do not use

Moved over from animelab and was very disappointed.

Issues:
1) "internal server error" message when I use my laptop. Tried multiple browsers and fixes but still comes up. Clearing the cache works sometimes but its a pain to do this every time I want to watch anime.
2) seasons are missing episodes. They should either have the whole season or none at all. It's frustrating to start getting into a show only to find an episode missing.
3) poor customer service which doesn't seem to care about these issues

Crunchyroll and netflix have anime and a service that actually works so I'll be using them going forward.

This has got to be the worst streaming…

This has got to be the worst streaming service I have ever used. It likes to boot up every episode of anime I watch in Spanish. It's a pain in the neck to set the episodes back to English. I contacted them asking to help me fix the issue, they basically said they can't help. The video viewer barely works. It's inconsistent. I can't just hit the next episode button to go to the next episode, it just doesn't work most of the time or if it does, Funimation tells me "this video isn't available." On top of this, I was watching an anime and Funimation straight up skipped like 10 episodes. So, I accidentally watched this show out of order because Funimation is programmed by actual chimpanzees. Get your crap together.

The worst

The worst, most sub-par anime streaming service available. Sony are buying everything, and cancelling all the good services in preference over Funi. Worst site, worst servers, worst by a long shot app support.

Don't bother. You will be disappointing.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. I have canceled funimation back in April and have been charged every month since, despite not at all watching or using the app. I call every month and argue that I didn't want to continue service and canceled the sub.
I hoped June was the last time I had to call due to the agrovation I expressed with the operator. I have just been charged again for an app I didn't agree to pay for and don't use.

Why are you doing this to us?

No skip intro, no sub and dub for usual shows, Terrible user interface. Application on phone and xbox are inferior to all other anime streaming services.
Why are you taking animelab from us and giving us something that we don't want. C'mon what the hell?
Is just about money right?

I would rather not watch Anime than use Funimation.

I am a customer that was bounced from AnimaeLab to Funimation in the merger.
In good faith I crossed over to the new experence of Funimation.
The first thing you will notice is the vast lack of genres in Funimation which means that each one packs a lot of shows in each one.
The next thing you notice is the sorting system which I believe they came up with by feeding the shows to a dog then organising them by the vomit that the poor animal threw up. Unless you know spacificly the title you want to watch browsing is just a nightmare.
As others have said there are also issues with shows mssing and limited runs so if you do manage, by some miricle, to find something you may want to watch there is a good chance earlier episodes will be missing.
I am now unsubscribed from this platform and short of Main from Ascendence of a Bookworm getting Isekaied to Funimation to sort them out I will not be back.

The horrible monopoly of funimation needs to end

This recent switch has shown just how horrible of a company funimation is, bad ui in their bad app and even with all the complaints they dont change anything. Animelab was way better. Fix your your hot mess of w monopoly garbage.

Below is a better summary written by another reviewer...

"Funimation and Animelab merging is the worst thing to ever happen. Firstly Funimation only lets you download 13 episodes. Ontop, downloading episodes in Japanese doesn't seem to include english subtitles so its technically worthless.
Animelab is far far superior; this merge has ruined the amazing customer experience AnimeLab built.

I wish I could rate Funimation 0 stars." -adam
