Outstanding service at Furniture Village Romford

My wife and I had a fantastic experience at the Furniture Village Romford store. Ali looked after us from start to finish, with Kam also stepping in to help, and both were absolutely brilliant.

We were ordering a modular sofa from the Premier range — the **Goliath** — and they went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we needed. They even opened up other sofas on the showroom floor to show us different configurations and how we could build the perfect setup to fit our space. Nothing felt rushed and no question was too much trouble.

A big bonus was the flexible payment options — we were able to pay by **Amex to earn points**, put down a **part payment**, and then either pay the balance just before delivery or set up **interest-free finance later**, which made the whole process even easier.

We also purchased the **additional care and protection cover**, which feels like a great investment — especially with **three children** in the house.

What really stood out was the level of personal service. Ali even messaged me on **WhatsApp from his own number**, where I was able to send over drawings and measurements from my house so he could double-check that everything would fit through our doorways, hallways and passages before ordering.

The service was far more personalised and helpful than at the Lakeside store, which we visited first. At Romford, we genuinely felt listened to and well looked after.

If you’re thinking about buying furniture, I highly recommend going to the Romford branch and asking for **Ali and Kam** — top-class service from start to finish.

2nd purchase and wish I never bothered!

Placing an order is great the staff are friendly and helpful and polite but god help if the furniture they deliver has been damaged then you’ll be waiting for customer service to follow up and get a replacement for a long time. Had a damaged wardrobe delivered, a rude delivery man and now coming up 2 months and still no replacement, passed from person to person all while i’ve got a broken wardrobe taking up space and keep getting told 2 weeks wait

Excellent service

We had a great experience from buying the furniture to getting it delivered and assembled on the delivery day. Bass and Marc installed the dining table nicely and explained in detail how to take care and adjust dining table.

Excellent service again and as always…

Excellent service again and as always at Furniture Village, Romford. Really felt the team there were doing everything for us to help and we ended up buying extra items as a result of the great service received from the salesmen in the store. Would highly recommend.

Disappointing in-store experience with poor communication and unclear partial deposit refund

I had a very disappointing experience purchasing from Furniture Village Romford and would strongly caution others before buying in store.

I bought a 3-seater sofa in store and paid a 25% deposit (£675). The quoted delivery time was 11–12 weeks. After 5 days, and well before any delivery date, I asked to cancel. While I accept that I signed a contract limiting changes to 48 hours, no flexibility or goodwill was shown and I was told the deposit was non-refundable, despite how early the cancellation was in the process.

What I later realised is that if I had purchased the exact same sofa online, I could have cancelled up to the day before delivery for a full refund. Buying in store offers fewer consumer rights and no clear advantage.

To make matters worse, the sofa was cheaper online on the same day I bought it, although I only noticed this the following day. The price was eventually matched, but only after repeated chasing, and I received no written confirmation that this had been applied.

When I later decided to cancel the order, I was told I would receive a call back to confirm, but this never happened and I had to chase repeatedly. I was then told I would receive none of the deposit back. It was only because I later realised the agreed price match had not been factored into the deposit calculation that I raised this again — otherwise I would not have received any refund at all. After further chasing, this resulted in a refund of just £21.

This also highlighted a lack of clarity around how the deposit was calculated. The 25% deposit should apply to the sofa itself, yet part of the amount paid covered insurance and a furniture glides set, neither of which had been provided at the point of cancellation. It was never clearly explained whether these items should have been included in the deposit at all, and even now I’m unsure whether I’ve received the correct refund or whether a larger refund should have been due.

Overall, the experience was disorganised, poorly communicated, and extremely disappointing. While I accept responsibility for signing the in-store contract, I believe the situation was handled rigidly and without transparency. I’m sharing this experience so others can make an informed decision, and I hope Furniture Village reflects on this and considers whether a fairer, more transparent resolution would have been appropriate.

Excellent service

Mr Swarn did a great job by giving us great advice without being too pushy. He let us have plenty of time and space to decide and whenever we asked advice, he would be quick to assist.
We are very pleased with the mattrass we bought and can't wait to sleep on it. Many thanks!
