COV19 challenges

My partner and I booked Fuzfilms following a recommendation. Their website and quality of work does seem very good and we were looking forward to using them for our planned wedding in June 2021.

However, perhaps like many couples and wedding suppliers, COV19 has caused an unpredecented situation. We decided to postpone our wedding until 2022, in Febrary of this year, due to the uncertainty of the lockdown schedule and the numbers permitted compared to the cost and size of our venue.

When we did reschedule we didn't confirm with all suppliers on availability of the new date. Mostly, based around the priority of suppliers and the challenges with elements such as the registrar due to emails taking 2 weeks to respond to and phone lines being closed.

Our issue came around when we asked Fuzfilm about their availability on our date for 2022, which they couldn't make.
It was at this point, Fuzfilm advised they would be keeping our deposit, as we had cancelled our original date in June 2021. We understand the deposit is there to protect suppliers, as they run small businesses and the wedding industry has been affected. Potentially, Fuzfilms could have given our original date to others.

But when we asked about a little fairness and leniency on the deposit, for example a split 50% / 50% Fuzfilms still advised they would keep 100%. At £500 this is quite a lot. We felt that we didn't cancel our wedding, given the issues accross the country COV19 has caused. Also Fuzfilm didn't consider our situation that our personal business could have been affected also. If we had outright cancelled, then I would have expected the deposit to not be returned. My partner and I wanted a day to remember with a full guest list at the venue.

Our experience with Fuzfilm was therefore not very good and we did feel was a little unsympathetic.
