Appalling experience in St Austell branch

It’s sad to see what a shambles this company has become under their Sports Direct management. I’ve been shopping there since the days when they sold Amiga and Megadrive games. Even in recent years, when they’ve been relegated to a few shelves in Sports Direct, I’d always have a rummage and try to buy things there. But no more.

St Austell branch today. They tried charging me £50 for a game priced at £31. They had no idea what to do when I questioned it, so sent for another member of staff. This member of staff tried to inform me it was the “Special Deluxe” edition, to which I replied there was no such thing - there’s only one edition. She then, in turn, radioed for another member of staff (though not before telling the other 2 members of staff to “radios down” for security). This 4th member of staff arrived, and told me the best she could do was give me 10% off the £50. I told them to forget about it and walked out without buying anything I picked up. It irked me that I stood there for 10 minutes, observing staff talking about me as though I wasn’t there and as though I was causing a problem, when in fact the only words I’d said were that the price they were charging me doesn’t match the sticker price.

I’d planned to visit again later to pick up another £200 worth of items. I went to Argos instead - where I also picked up the game far cheaper than they were selling it for.
