Gardener24.ie replied quickly to my online enquiry and sent a team out to assess the job, which was to remove about 30 medium tree branches. A well-spoken young man, who introduced himself as Dennis, gave me a quote for €720. At my obvious shock he reduced it to €420 and then €320. I thanked him for his time and said I would do it myself for a charge of €50 at the civic recycling centre. I was prepared to pay €100 to avoid the hassle, but not triple.
