Service is pretty poor

Service is pretty poor. It is like an expensive version of Airasia but without any improvements in quality. Food onboard is quite terrible. Check-in assistant was very rude and arrogant in Melbourne ( I saw other counters were nice and polite, but I rate my experience not if those who checked in with other assistants). Absolutely not worth it. I heard nice things about Garuda service , but what I experienced was far from good. Will avoid flying with them whenever possible.

Don't fly Garuda Indonesia

My husband suffered a medical incident. Staff unable or unwilling to assist in ANY way. Three air hostesses just stood and watched while incident took place. No action taken at all. Totally unacceptable on every level. Don't fly Garuda Indonesia.

I would have given Garuda 5 stars

I would have given Garuda 5 stars. However, they failed me for the entire process. I was able to change the reservation which included a charge. However, they failed to include a means to make the payment and waited an entire day. When it came to 5 hours from now, the flight reservation was gone. I was told the payment wasn't made. So I had to purchase a new ticket. I will no longer do business with Garuda. I had a better experience with Batik.

We recently travelled on Citylink…

We recently travelled on Citylink airways a subsidury airline to Garuda I believe. We were booked though to Perth Australia but had forgoten to arrange visas somehow, without which we were not on the plane. Time was running out at the desk, whilst I desperately tried to arrange e-visas for myself and my wife, fully accepting that we would’nt make it on time, and looking at staying overnight in Denpassar, and hopefully travelling on the next day, but remarkably, the gentlemen at the Citylink desk kept the gate open until the e-visas had come though, and escorted us all the way to the gate, through all the checks and got us to the gate as the plane was boarding. I have never expeirienced sevice of that nature before. I have nothing but praise for the airline and especialy the two gentlmen that helped us on our way. It’s often difficult to know how good an airline is from the other end of the world, but I would n’t hesitate to travel with Citylink again

Luggages were not transferred to final stop, had to pay $$$ to get luggage and then check in again

Attention All Travelers Transiting in Jakarta – Please Read!

I booked Garuda flights from Australia to China with a 16-hour layover in Jakarta back in March 2024. At no point before the flight did Garuda provide any information regarding baggage transfer. It wasn’t until I was checking in at Sydney Airport that I was informed my luggage would not be transferred directly to China. Instead, I would need to claim it in Jakarta. When I asked if I needed an Indonesian visa to do this, the staff assured me I did not. However, she was unable to check me in for my connecting flight.

I then asked the flight crew about the situation, as I was traveling with my 10-year-old child. The 15-hour layover with three suitcases was highly inconvenient. I inquired if there was any other way our checked luggage could be sent directly to the next destination, but they had no clue.

Upon arrival in Jakarta, we learned that we were not eligible for the airport’s transfer service because our connecting flight was more than 5 hours away. This meant we needed a visa-on-arrival to collect our luggage and check in again for the next flight.

I was completely unprepared for this. There were no currency exchange options before exiting the custom, and the only ATM available was broken. I ended up paying a foreign currency equivalent of 120 AUD just to obtain two visas in order to get our luggage.

Since we didn’t want to leave the airport with three suitcases, my daughter and I spent the night on the airport chairs. We had to wait until the next morning to check in for our next flight.

I am extremely disappointed with Garuda. There was no communication about the need for re-check-in when I purchased the tickets. It felt as though they did it on purpose so they can collect visa fees. This was by far the worst transit experience I have ever had, and I will never transit through Indonesia again. I highly recommend avoiding this airline for long layovers in Jakarta.

Changed time of my flight to 3 hours…

Changed time of my flight to 3 hours later, without offering compensation or a possibility to change flights, it meant i would miss my connection.

Flight 14.45 from Lombok to Jakarta on the 14 th january 2025, it got changed to 17.50 instead, and that would mean i only had 15 minutes to reach my next flight. All Tickets were booked together.

On this flight unprofessional staff

I flew on oct.28th from Jakarta to Doha.
Old aircraft Triple 7
Old entertainment system, one headphone in my row was okay, 2 did'nt work, no WiFi available
Air show not working. Instead of switching it off now I know how the planet looks like.
Unprofessional staff, there is no system in their service, sometimes they forgot me and other passengers around me.
And please note: a wine should be served full, not half full, its not a whiskey
And a gin tonic is always be served with a slice of lemon, there was nothing provided
Please give them a better training in the ground course

Garuda Miles - DON'T BUY IT

I’m a member of Garuda Miles
Somehow when I checked my Garuda App, I found Garuda offering 50% discount to buy Millage.
So I bought 150,000 miles which cost me $2,422.62 AUD
I bought this mileage I was thinking to give away/ transfer to my friend as a gift.

But, when I was trying to transfer I found below.
For example.
If I buy 20,000 miles, it cost $258.00 USD (discounted).
Then if I transfer my millage, it will cost me another 3,330,000 IDR which is around $214.49 USD
So the total I spent actually, $258.00+$214.49 = $472.49 USD which is more expansive than regular price.
Later on, I checked how many points is needed to fly from Sydney to Jakarta.
It says 70K to 90K for economy and 130K to 160K for business.
so this is ridiculous .

BAD LUGGAGE ARRANGEMENTS FOR BUSINESS CLASS & SKY PRIORITY

Many times Garuda ground cargo crews are lazy to sort out the priority bags for business class passengers! Or Sky Priority passengers! My luggage’s always come out last just like economy class passengers! Why shall I buy the business class seat then? Very bad customer service on this matter! I’m very disappointed n disgusted with the laziness of the Garuda Ground Cargo crews!

Awful experience

Awful experience. Took a flight from Yogyakarta to Bali today (03/oct/24) and they left us inside a fully booked plane in the heat of the tarmac for almost half an hour with no air conditioning. Same thing happened when we landed. Unacceptable way to treat the passengers!!!

Chaotic, Late, never again

Our flight was just rescheduled without any reason and we were told that it would leave 3 hours and 45 minutes later. There was no possibility to get on an earlier flight, no „sorry for that“ or anything. We told the check-in staff that we had a connecting flight and not that much time to transfer with the new time of departure, and she put a „short transfer“ tag on our bags. We went on the plane at the re-scheduled time but then just stood there for 1,5 hours, not departing and not getting any further information on why/when/…
Arriving in Jakarta, our bags were the last ones to be delivered, so the short transfer patch didn‘t do the job. We couldn‘t check in our bags for the connecting flight because it was too late, and people at the Garuda Customer Service just ignored us although we were the only ones there who maybe could still make it on their connecting flight (all the others had left around 2 hours ago). When someone finally talked to us, he was actually helpful and assured us that they would send our bags after us and we should get on the plane. So we ran, but i doubt that we will ever see these bags again…
I know such an experience can be made with every airline, but the way Garuda handled (or did not handle) it was just unbelievable. No information, no help, not even sorry for what happened. Never again.

Garuda FAILED to load luggage on the…

Garuda FAILED to load luggage on the first leg of trip. Three hours early to airport.
We had to hang around another day and a half to receive, missing a prearranged boat.
Did not deliver to hotel and had to return to airport to receive. Also in addition to an extra night , had to purchase necessities - ZERO HELP - all emails IGNORED.
I am just happy I had airtags in them so all my scuba gear wasn't gone for good.
(Update: reported to USDT International division. We were entitled compensation - Garuda ignoring all emails)

I will absolutely NEVER fly with Garuda again

I will absolutely NEVER fly with Garuda Indonesia again!! I am appaled by their service and the way they handled my situation. During my transit to Bali, my hold suitcase was delayed. Upon arriving in Bali, I spoke to the delayed baggage service and they said that my bag got left in a different country and was going to get sent to Jakarta and that I would be able to pick it up the following day. To which I said NO as I was not going to pay money for a flight to Jakarta and back just to pick up my luggage. So I asked them to deliver it to Bali and send it to the address in which I was staying for the next 3 nights. I was given a contact number and was told my bag should be with me soon. After numerous texts and phone calls, the baggage tracing team were of very little-to-no help. I had to buy numerous clothing items while I was in Bali, and had no access to toiletries and only a limited amount of money. This, naturally ruined what should have been an enjoyable start to my holiday!

After 3 nights at the first location where I was saying, there was still no sign of my bag arriving which was starting to make me incredibly impatient and worried. I contacted the baggage tracing team and informed them that I was moving to a different location the following day on a neighbouring Island and was very worried about not receiving it as it would be much more difficult to get the bag delivered to the island. The team then finally got in contact with me and said they would deliver it to the reception at one of the ferry crossing terminals to the island. After finally receiving my bag I discovered it in an appaling condition. On top of the bag being dirty and damaged, several high value and personal items had been STOLEN from it, including aftershave and an expensive snorkel mask. I have tried NUMBEROUS times to claim both for expenses AND for the STOLEN items from my bag from Garuda and they have ignored all my emails and online enquiries every time. I am so incredibly shocked and appaled by this airline that made absolutely no effort to ease my worries or pay even a single penny of reparations towards damages. I will write as many scathing reviews as it takes to get this company to finally LISTEN. I have told all my friends and family to AVOID this airline at all costs and hope that for whoever reads this review that you do too for your own sake.

The Garuda website LITERALLY STATES:
"If you do not receive your checked baggage at the arrival (at the same flight date and flight number), you are entitled to get First Need Compensation (FNC) as follows:
For domestic flight, FNC shall be given IDR 200.000 per passenger/day, maximum payment for 3 days.
For international flight, FNC shall be given lump sum (one-time payment) in amount as follow:
- USD 75 for economy class
- USD 100 for business class
- USD 200 for first class"

And yet there is absolutely no link to claim or ANY contact details to enquire about making this claim, and with any attempt to do so you are simply brushed off. It seems this company loves to wipe its hands of its customers problems and its blatant corruption.

1 word: AVOID!!!

Work and Education Balance

I have been in the education industry for the last 14yrs. I decided to go for a doctorate and came accross the upGrad website where they offer online learning for working professionals. They assisted me through the process also offering scholarship of 70%. I am currently pursuing the Doctorate of Education program and I am able to network with people from across the globe. It's a great opportunity. I have even recommended it to my colleagues.
