Mixed Experience with the Gastric Balloon Program
I recently embarked on a journey with Gastric Balloon Group for their gastric balloon program. While my overall experience wasn't without its challenges, there were also some positive aspects worth highlighting.
On the positive side, I appreciated the effectiveness of the gastric balloon and the gradual progress I observed towards my weight loss goals. The program did deliver results, and I'm pleased with the positive impact it had on my health.
However, I must acknowledge that the support aspect of the program left something to be desired. At times, I found myself feeling a bit disconnected and frustrated, as it took additional effort on my part to seek assistance. I would have welcomed more proactive communication from the company and a smoother channel for support. It's worth mentioning that I had to make numerous calls and send emails to get the guidance I needed.
Additionally, the cost of the program was significant and did strain my budget. While I understand that quality health services come at a price, I believe a more transparent breakdown of the costs and potential payment plans could help potential customers make more informed decisions.
In conclusion, my experience with Gastric Balloon Group had its ups and downs. The positive outcomes of the program were commendable, but improvements could certainly be made in terms of providing consistent and accessible support, as well as exploring options to make the program more financially manageable for individuals.

Thank you Esen for your detailed review. I am glad that you are already seeing the benefits of your gastric balloon programme. It is still very early days but you have got off to a great start with your weight loss, well done.
I am sorry that you feel you haven't received the support you were expecting. You are now one month into your journey and I can see that you have received your scheduled nurse calls and have had 2 further 1-1 appointments with the health coach and have another appointment scheduled for 2 weeks time. I can see you have also used some of the recipe resources on the app which is great. You may want to explore the other resources on the app such as the behavioural videos with psychologists or nutrition classes as I think you may find those useful.
You haven't yet booked your 1-1 dietitian appointment or attended any of the weekly live Health Coach sessions so I would recommend booking onto those if you are feeling that you'd like more advice and support in that area. Let us know if you need any help booking those appointments. And don't forget you have access to a 24/7 messaging service with a dietitian via the app so if you need advice at any point, you can reach out to the team.
You will receive scheduled contacts from us at regular intervals but if you feel you need more, please just get in touch via phone, email or message via the App. Good luck with the rest of your balloon journey!
Disappointed with aftercare
The hospital itself were great, but the actual support and aftercare/follow up care is basically non existent. Nobody prepares you for needing to taper off of the PPI medication they throw at you for a year: you can’t just stop taking it. You get awful rebound reflux and life is miserable. Would not recommend to anyone.

All in all I'm day 5 into my journey and have had a great experience from start best decision I have ever made listening to horror stories was off putting do not listen to them the balloon is a tool so you have to work with it it's not a miracle worker but it's a brilliant tool at that I have followed all the guidance of nurses after care team all good so far taking my medication which is important and drinking plenty of fluids to keep me hydrated looking forward to this year to see what it brings if your thinking about it go for it don't listen to noone else only yourself it's your journey 😀

I get my orbera365 balloon removed in October I have gone from 25.6 stone to 17.4 stone and I still have 3 months left. These guys have been amazing in helping me. If you are wanting to loose alot of weight this is I believe a better alternative to a gastric bypass. Thanks again guys
Just a update I have had my balloon removed and I am now 15.3 stone well below the 16 I wanted I have never felt better and it was so easy to follow.
Even with the balloon out I am still sticking to my new healthy lifestyle and still loosing. And it's not as bad as u thought it might be to stick to less than 2500 callories a day. It turns out when you eat healthy your calories are low anyway.
I am so happy I did this I have gotten my life back thank you gastric balloon group.
I really needed that kick up the ass

Consistent from First contact to now - Day 5
First contact - Helena Gowan was incredibly patient and even when it resulted in many calls, she didn't mind and helped me with decision making
Assessments and pre-op meetings - each contact with GBG and Spire have been excellent
Doctor - Dr Ngatchu was amazing - he provided assurance during the pre-op discussion, laying out all the risks and pitfalls of the balloon in addition to the benefits. Then at the hospital, it was clear he had listened to everything discussed previously and I felt confident going into the procedure
Post Procedure support - the GBG app has been a godsend - food tracking is key and the app is simple, also the on-demand support is quick and efficient
So far so good (no sickness just nausea), I work from home and I was able to do a little work on day two - thanks to the anti-sickness meds

Money making scheme!
The procedure failed to produce the results I had paid for. The aftercare support I received was insufficient and disappointing. I expected a high level of care and attention from a company that specialises in gastric balloon procedures, and yet I feel as though my concerns and needs were not taken seriously. The aftercare support provided by the Gastric Balloon Group was inadequate. My concerns were not addressed with the level of urgency I had hoped for, and I often felt as though my questions were not being taken seriously as I would receive "follow-up phone calls" during the day whilst I was working and "motivational texts" at sometimes 3am in the morning! I expected a higher level of care and support from the Gastric Balloon Group, especially considering the significant financial investment I made in this procedure. However, I feel as though I was not given the level of support I deserved, both during the procedure and throughout the aftercare process.
The company doesn't care about it's patients only the financial gain

Sorry to hear that Rianna, particularly as you started so well with your balloon, losing a stone in the first couple of months. I can see that you have had numerous contacts with the team including recently when you were asking for advice regarding removal but if there is anything further you need, please get in contact and we’ll be happy to help. Our Health Coach did reach out to you a few weeks ago when you said you were struggling with results but he hasn’t heard back from you yet. That support is still available to you whenever you need it.
Our nursing and support teams will make calls in standard working hours but we understand it can be difficult for some patients to answer so offer that patients can communicate by email if it’s easier or via the 24/7 App messaging service, which I can see you have used a few times. Our weekly support texts are automated via our system, apologies if these arrived at an inconvenient time, I have disabled these for you now.
If you need further support from our dietitian or health coach to help you get back on track towards your weight loss goals, please let us know and we will arrange an appointment for you.
