AVOID THE LADIES TOILETS IN THE DEPARTURE LOUNGE OF NORTH TERMINAL.
Even at 7am they are absolutely disgusting. I've seen way, way better in third world countries.
Shame on you, Gatwick.

Awful

Gatwick Airport is such an awful and unpleasant airport. It needs a full renovation! It looks old and tired. Adding a Gail's bakery and a few fancy shops won't fix the issues! The train station is also dire. I was waiting for a train earlier today; the walls are falling apart, and the environment is just miserable

For the price this lounge is extremely sub standard. The food is very basic with limited choice. Surcharge of £5 for a cheap glass of Prosecco. Reception staff unprofessional and seemed the least bit interested.

Gatwick North

Gatwick North
What can I say dirty bathrooms - despite being 6:30 am.
Stressful music going through the shops
Nowhere to charge devices
Air con not on /functioning despite it being 25+degress inside

Sound system for calling out flights are so crackly and loud you can’t hear what they are saying .

Considering the profits Gatwick airport are already showing for this first half of the year this is in no way visible in any important and necessary upgrades to their facilities.

Finally, don’t add gates where people are walking through narrow spaces to get to other gates, creating massive queues, funnelling people like packed sardines, imagine a fire taking place
What a death trap !

Abysmal

Abysmal. Way too hot, terrible food choice, tables take forever to be cleaned. Really poor value in comparison to comparable pay in lounges such as the one at Stansted.

Edited: this is for the pay-in lounge No 1 Lounge in the north terminal. No wonder they don't get many bad reviews - the QR code they give takes you to the parking instead!

Lack of hidden disability support

Every time I go to the airport special assistance is really bad for hidden disabilities and it’s really upsetting. I struggle to stand for a long time in the queues and we are made to wait for 30 minutes or more in excruciating pain at passport and check-in desks.
On the way there, there was no fast track/disabled check-in queue and everyone was using both queues while I was standing there and suffering for over 20 minutes with nowhere to sit. Then when they let us through to the plane, the plane is never ready to board and we have to stand and wait again due to their lack of communication, which has happened almost every time we go away.
On the way back, there was no one at the desks for the disability queue and we were all struggling to stand there and wait for over 30 minutes while they prioritised letting every one but disabled people through. There were no seats around and I resulted to sitting on the floor, as did somebody else. It’s really upsetting that you don’t acknowledge those of us with hidden disabilities and expect us to suffer. Throughout this time I was wearing my sunflower lanyard, and I do not require a wheelchair for walking.

Ripping off passengers

Ripping off is the most appropriate word for such unpleasant experience at this ripping off charges of £10.00 to drop off at Gatwick Airport. This charges doesn't make this Airport any better than any Airport around the world with most of them are a FREE, FREE, FREE drop off. This is what we call service, quality and friendly Airports, not greedy and stilling from people. The CEO of this Airport should be sacked for this ripping off actions, not everyone earn millions Mr CEO, let me say this 70% of the people who travel is to visit families at the countries of origins and they work extremely hard sometimes the whole year to pay for a single travel in the whole year if you understand or if this makes any sense to you Mr CEO, You should consider this situations before you decide to make or interduce this ridiculous charges. Passengers who use this Airport pay on there tickets Airport taxes, APD for does who don't know is Air Passenger Duty, O Government TAX is included in your fare. The greedy of this Airport is putting some vulnerable people at risk, specially does on early morning flights or even late night, taken the risk of using a public transport who is not easy, is also expensive and very poor service, the risk is that in many occasions they will be assaulted when they leave the comfort of there homes to walk at late hours of the night or early hours of the morning. There is a lot to talk about here. The words from the Airport is that the barriers where removed to facilitated the drop off movement what a fake comment and the payment online is a totally assault on peoples money. BOYCOTT - BOYCOTT-BOYCOTT-BOYCOTT this ridiculous and greedy Gatwick airport... In fact this is perhaps the worst Airport in Europe, Expensive, dirty, poor service personnel and terrible transport connections to this Airport, perhaps the only good thing is the cabs that you decided to charge them for a drop off making there life and our life extremely difficult and expensive.

Gatwick is always my first choice

Gatwick is always my first choice, as find it's the best of the London airports, but recently travelled through with my daughter, her husband and 3 month old baby. My husband and myself used the regular security lane but my daughter was told as she had to use the family lane with the baby. My husband and myself were through security in 5 mins, my daughter, her husband and baby took 40mins. How on earth is this acceptable when travelling with babies and young children and it wasn't even school holidays.

Avoid Gatwick

What can you say about Gatwick or should I say what can you say good about Gatwick, very little . As usual your flight is called and then you are herded into a pen for 50mins and driven round the air port to the plane. You get in only to be told there’s congestion and you have sit in the plane for at least half an hour.
This is regular, unfortunately I have little choice if I want to get to Belfast from the South of England but I have started making other arrangements. My advice if you can, avoid Gatwick. They don’t respond to negative comments because they don’t care. Rubbish.

Scared to come back to this pathetic airport the long stay south terminal is impossible to find you end up in the staff car park every time and go in loops. Impossible to find get your act together and put proper signs up no point in having a massive one plastered in the main roads then none whatsoever. Honestly if you go make sure you plan how to find as I tried 5 times and by then it was 1/2 hour later and still didn’t find had to park elsewhere.

Very helpful and friendly staff

I injured myself a few days before flying and could only walk a few steps. The assistance provided at the airport was wonderful. I was escorted by lovely, friendly staff, who helped at every stage from arriving at the airport to boarding the plane.

What a pi** poor airport experience

What a pi** poor airport experience. Really must start flying from other airports. 2 escalators out of service on the way to gate 45E. Then 30 minute wait for a bus to the plane. Seems like Gatwick is run by a bunch of rank amateurs.

No outdoors space, disgraceful

After being stuck at Gatwick for nearly 10 hours following a medical emergency diversion on our Jet2 flight to Rhodes, I’m honestly shocked that there is effectively no accessible outdoor space in the departures area for passengers to get fresh air.

We asked if we could briefly access the terrace area attached to the lounges simply to get some air after hours inside the terminal, and were told we would need to pay around £40 for lounge access because it is policy. No flexibility, no compassion, despite the exceptional circumstances and length of the delay.

I understand security restrictions, but for a major international airport to have no freely accessible outdoor area for delayed passengers is incredibly poor. Being trapped indoors for this length of time is exhausting and stressful, especially after an already difficult situation involving a medical emergency onboard.

Very disappointing experience from Gatwick and I would recommend you don't fly from here.

Upgrading to 1st Lounge

I've always use Gatwick parking and it's great. This time we upgraded to 1st lounge and priority security and passport check on return. Cost about £100. DO NOT BOTHER. 1st lounge is ok if you want to get drunk on fizz but the whole experience including the food was nothing special , the hot breakfast was possibly the cheapest catering packs they could buy. The security fast lane was no different in time to normal security and on return the priority passport was longer than the normal passport check. So for the money definitely for us not worth it. Spend your money at Weatherspoons :)

Hypocrisy at its absolute finest—shame…

Hypocrisy at its absolute finest—shame on Gatwick North
If you are a nervous flyer who relies on a cigarette to get through the stress of travel, do yourself a favor and avoid Gatwick North Terminal entirely. The hypocrisy here is unreal. They completely ban smoking airside, yet they are more than happy to profit off selling unlimited booze to passengers. The logic is staggering: zero tolerance for a quiet smoker, but total tolerance for groups of unruly drunks shouting throughout the terminal and disrupting everyone’s peace.
What makes it a total slap in the face is that if you fly from the South Terminal and shell out extra money for the My Lounge access, suddenly smoking on their outdoor terrace is perfectly fine. So, it’s not about "health and safety" at all—it's just about money. If you aren't paying for their premium lounges, they couldn't care less about your pre-flight anxiety. A miserable, greedy, and stressful airport experience. 0/5 stars if I could.
