Avoid like the plague! Recurring charge bandit, warning.

I bought a laptop from Costco and took a + one year membership. A month later, I cancelled my membership. Costco is a 2-hour drive, I rarely use it. Fast forward: $49.99 recurring charge. Three hours on the phone. 1 hour with CS in the Philippines + 1 hour with CS in Honduras: Your accout was cancelled. To get a refund: GET IN YOUR CAR AND DRIVE 100 MILES! Then one hour with Citi (contest the charge) then 15 minutes with Geek Squad in the Philippines and told: Charge Reversed. C'mon my time is worth $50/hour. I just spent $200 to (maybe) get an improper charge and worse, to my knowledge I NEVER SIGNED AN AGREEMENT WITH GEEK SQUAD (it must have been embedded in my Costco and then continued on alone, without me knowing it. Aaaaargh.

Bad Geek Squad Service Provided by Kevin Kim

Tech Kevin Kim of the Irvine CA Best Buy does not have the skill to help with tech issues. In fact, he is unwilling to help. My emails with him evidence this.
I am filing a complaint against him. I note that Geek has a 1.5 rating, so I don't expect much from these people. Kevin does not represent the company well. My "1" rating will further drag down their rating here and on Yelp.

Absolute nightmare of a company

Absolute nightmare of a company and their assurance Geek squad junk. They signed me up for a monthly payment plan for a tablet coverage without me knowing, just asking me to check boxes and charging me. When I finally found out they wanted 105 just to cancel the payment plan that was covering a whole lot of nothing. Absolutely disgusting predatory. They wouldnt even let you cancel the plan without putting in your credit card info. Best buy, that is the biggest scam in the world you are the worst.

The worst DEI hires I've ever experienced. It was my first experience with these types of employees. I live in Roswell Georgia. If you use Geek Squad and purchase from Best Buy at North Point in Alpharetta Ga and these two show up for a one person job don't let them in your home. Had no idea what they were doing. Not a scintilla of anything clue. The absolute definition of DEI. Clueless.

Warranty is not worth it

Warranty is not worth it. I had bought a a 800.00 washing machine and paid extra for one year warranty. Machine was an insignia top load machine large capacity. Last me three times and broke down on me. People at store and geek squad couldn’t find my protection I paid for when called and went to store to ask about it. Had my receipt and still did nothing about it. Wouldn’t even refund me. I was quite pissed off that lost all that for a lemon. Couldn’t even get my kids clothes washed and had to chuck it. Thanks a lot for nothing. Never again will I get warranty from her again. Cant afford such thing if just going to take my money.

I purchased an Insignia 75” classF50…

I purchased an Insignia 75” classF50 series LED 4K UHD Smart Fire TV, last year during black Friday from Amazon, and it was delivered on 12/2/25. I was VERY HAPPY with this purchase until it stopped connecting to the internet the end of September, 2025. Thankfully it was covered under a one year manufacturers (BestBuy) warranty. The process began with Amazon and then working with tech support via phone which was a bit painful, but eventually I was scheduled an appointment with BestBuy Geek Support. Stephan made repairs in my home and ultimately issued a credit for another TV. In the future, I would not purchase a large electronic item via Amazon. It added a layer of frustration that is not needed. The Geek Squad helped resolve my issue! In store contact with Frankie, Jake and Scott helped me select a new tv, issue a credit for my old tv and set-up free delivery. I purchased a 5 year geek squad plan this time. I hate the outsourcing of service issues - via online tech support and the appointment system. I realize BestBuy is trying to compete in a competitive market but this is a mistake.
Once I had contact with the physical GeekSquad, my issue was quickly and appropriately addressed, leading to an ultimately happy customer. If you want a 5 star review, stop outsourcing and resolve issues as quickly as possible.
My two cents.

Hey geek squad,
I asked you guys to fix my laptop not to make its condition even worse. I asked for it to be repaired or replaced as I was travelling to India in 2 weeks time and I would not be able to get it repaired in India but the way you guys fixed it is so absurd. WHENEVER I START MY LAPTOP JUST THE FAN STARTS NOT THE SCREEN??????!!!! I AM NOT USING THE FAN, THE LAPTOP KEEPS RUNNING EVEN AFTER I TURN IT OFF THE FAN KEEPS GOING ON AND THE LAPTOP OVERHEATS. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO OF THIS PIECE OF JUNK THAT YOU GAVE ME BACK?
And you guys will reply saying that give the piece back, I said the geek squad person clearly that I will not be able to give it back till I’m back in Canada even if it’s not working and also the fact that I USE THIS LAPTOP FOR MY WORK WHICH I CLEARLY MENTIONED. How am I supposed to work? I am not working and it is harming me personally and my work life.

avoid best buy and geek squad

I will never purchase anything from Best Buy again and will have nothing to do with the geek squad. No one answers the phone; chat guy disappeared for 5 minutes at a time clearly doing something else more interesting; guy who set up my laptop said we could connect the printer later and gave me card with email and phone. I called a couple of times and no one would connect me with him and referred me to the phone number where no one answers. I had NOT been any problem. I've emailed him; no response. There is NO customer service--none! Never again.

This phone service and online support stinks

This phone service and online support is pathetic. Designed by an absolute moron who could care less about customer satisfaction. Difficult to schedule an in-store appointment because you have to deal with a poor national contact. Cannot call the store directly nor can you get the national center to call them. Worst customer service in a long time, and that is saying something.

Hello: I have been with you for several years on a monthly subscription. I think you are absolutly wonderful. Your people are everything I could ask. You have never failed to solve my issue in a professional, friendly and above all patient manner. I'm 72 years old but still working virtually from home in my own business. I simply don't have the time or know how to deal with the teck issues I face now and then. You have always had my back and doubt I could still be thriving without you! Geek Squad has the worst customer support

Geek Squad has the worst customer support I've encountered in my 49 years of life.

I purchased a Bosch dishwasher from Best Buy 3 years ago, and I was "smart" enough to get the protection plan for another $400.

A week ago, the dishwasher began making a loud noise, and the E15 error appeared on the screen.

I filed the service request, and the technician came after 3 days. He worked on the dishwasher for a few minutes, and then he left WITHOUT TESTING it. When he left the house, he told me to call him if it happened again.

Of course, it happened after just a few minutes, and when I called back, he said he couldn't come back to fix the issue.

Over the last 48 hours, I spent approximately 3-4 hours on the phone with GeekSquad agents, supervisors, and managers, attempting to arrange for another technician to come and resolve the issue. This is a fire hazard, as the dishwasher continues to run without interruption due to the E15 error.

Some of the Geek Squad agents refused to put me in touch with a manager, and when I was finally able to get a hold of someone who was not rude and able to understand plain English, I was told that we had to wait for the incompetent technician to file the report.

He can take as much time as he wants to file the report, and during this time, I'm having fun doing the dishes, knowing that I spent $400 to help Best Buy grow.

The next time I hear from the Best Buy sales members the phrase "if we can fix it, we'll replace it", I'll know they mean "if we can fix it in a year or so, maybe you'll forget about it".

DO NOT USE BEST BUY'S GEEK SQUAD

Took my laptop into Geek Squad to do a virus check, after my email was hacked. I was very specific to them about saving photos and documents and they assured me ALL would be saved. I got it back and EVERYTHING was lost. They openly admitted that they screwed up. After complaining loudly they sent my laptop out for a data recovery and stated that it would just be a week or two. 8 WEEKS LATER, no laptop, the only communications were after I called them. All calls are routed to a central office, who refuse to take complaint calls and promise that someone will contact me shortly. I would NOT recommend this store or company to anyone. I am still trying to track down my computer.
UPDATE: Got my laptop back after 8 weeks and NOTHING was recovered. The Sarnia store referred me to their corporate office for some type of resolution. They got back to with a insulting offer of a $250 gift card, their offer stated that since I can't prove that all my photos and documents were lost, this was all they would offer. They also stated that I was refusing to take calls from Best Buy, which was an outright lie. I have requested to talk with someone from their corporate office but I know this will never happen. They just don't care. So please don't use Best Buy, I had all my photos and documents lost, and than insulted with lies and low offer of compensation. I REGRET DEALING WITH BEST BUY AND I HOPE THIS REVEIW WILL INFLUENCE OTHER PEOPLE NOT TO USE BEST BUY!!

These guys are useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! their only solution to fix your laptop is to replace the mother board. expensive, this way you will trash ur old laptop and buy a new one at best buy!!! what a scam!!!!!!

i took my laptop to cybersolutions in saint john and they fixed it in 2 hours, $130 bucks vs $400 plus at the incompetent usless geek squad. lesson learned!!!!

Customer support specifically Patrick V should not be in customer service. Does not know how to be curteous. I signed up for best buy membership as it was cheaper than paying to have my pc repaired. There are things included with membership like cloud storage i spoke to this person via chat so it said it maybe awhile for a representative to join the chat so feel free to continue doing whatever you want on your pc. Eventually he joined the chat patric v kept trying to discourage me from even using the cloud storage like for some reason i was wasting my time and his. Each time i messaged him it would take 1 to 2 minutes sometimes longer for them to respond I never missed a message or failed to respond right away to any of the questions asked he then kept telling me I needed to focus like I was some child and kept saying it over and over I assume because I continued to work on my pc while speaking with them again I never missed a thing or message or delayed answering them. Just lept saying you need to focus all the while saying you dont really need this why do you want it and you need to understand what it is. So far not impressed with the service see what happens when i get my pc back i guess.

Scammers!

Oh Boy - another bunch of scammers. I was on Wix.com designing my website and somehow I must have inadvertently clicked on some kind of order that Geek Squad generate to Wix Customers thru their website. I have no idea what all this was but a few hours later I received an invoice from Geeksquad for $399! I immediately demanded my money back and followed it up with a stern email. They did not answer the phone number on their invoice. No surprise there.

I contacted geek squad 2 times in the last several months only to cancel everything. I wanted someone to come to my house to fix my printer. After 20 minutes on telephone and having to begin their process 4 times I was so frustrated I cancelled everything. When I first bought everything I had no problem getting someone here. Now it is like applying for a mortgage. I paid enough to be a member of Best Buy and then they want more money to fix stuff. You have to jump through hoops just to get a tech to come out. I will look elsewhere for any repairs and think twice about continuing my membership
