Basic 4 cereal

My husband and I recently bought a General Mills Basic 4 box. The name of the cereal says it all: BASIC 4. The box advertises that it has crunchy almonds, crispy rice, coated vanilla clusters, and sweet and tangy fruit pieces. It has a ton of rice and sweet and tangy fruit (raisins) but no almonds or vanilla clusters. It did taste pretty good but overall, not what it advertised and not worth the price.

Dangerously unhealthy.

Unfortunately, the quality of General Mills cereal, particularly Lucky Charms, has significantly decreased over the past few years. After having just one bowl, I experienced a migraine that included a headache, dizziness, and partial loss of vision.

Initially, I didn’t suspect that Lucky Charms was the cause of my migraine. However, I recalled that this was not the first time I had reacted negatively to this cereal. Several months before my migraine, I had a bowl of Lucky Charms and felt queasy and dizzy afterward, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Recently, I tried Lucky Charms again and experienced the same symptoms.

Could I be allergic? I have had Lucky Charms for almost my entire life without any issues until recently.

It seems like these problems happen because General Mills uses low-quality and potentially unhealthy ingredients in their cereal, such as artificial food colorings, pesticides, and preservatives. I have spoken to many people who have lived in different countries and they all say that food quality is generally worse here in the U.S.

General Mills, please improve the quality of your food.

Plastic baggie baked into bat

On May 22 my wife bit into a Nature Valley Sweet and Salty peanut bar and found a plastic baggie baked into the bar. We contacted them immediately and as if June 4th have received no response. When contacting General Mills calls are forwarded to a third party call center in the Phillipines where I am told "We will send you coupons". I would like to know what was in that plastic bag before General Mills added it to the recipe. I was a pharmacist for over 30 years and if someone said there was something wrong with their prescription I would stop whatever I was doing and address the issue. Apparently General Mills doesn't hold themselves to that high a professional standard.

General Mills deceives the public

I recently bought a box of nature valley granola bars from Walmart looking at the box which is rather large in size. It’s a 30 bars I assume that meant 30 packages how long can I be deceptive marketing text into account the two little crackers per pkg so therefore I only got 15 packages very deceptive. I should’ve known when I picked up the phone to call them and they still talking about working from home and masking precautions because of COVID-19 which is over and done with and I hope to put up on the American public 34 years ago that I was never going to get the right kind of answer from these people. I’m never buying anything from General Mills again. I’ll make sure my family does not either. There’s plenty of other healthier choices on the market besides, it’s not even natural anymore. It contains Weedwhacker.

I purchased a pack of 10 Old El Paso…

I purchased a pack of 10 Old El Paso Tortillas from a New World Supermarket in New Zealand and when removing them from the packet, they were so pressed together that everyone of them tore and were of no use in making tacos. I returned to the supermarket and replaced them with another packet of the same brand, but they too were all stuck together. So I swapped them for another brand of tortillas and they were perfect.

I phoned General Mills to make a complaint, but it was outside of their office hours and invited me to leave my name and phone number at the end of the taped message and they would call me back. But at the end of the taped message, the call ended without me being given the opportunity to leave my contact details and the reason for calling.

So the next day I phoned General Mills again and the Customer Service women made me feel like it was my fault that the tortillas had stuck together. She said that all I needed to do was to microwave them for 10 seconds to loosen them. Well with all the other brands of tortillas I've bought, I've never experienced this issue and so knew nothing about microwaving them if they stick together. And she obviously assumes that everyone owns a microwave!

The General Mills Customer Service rep said the tortillas were sticking together because they no longer use Palm Oil. Well the Tortillas I ended up replacing the Old El Paso ones for (Pams) used Canola Oil and they didn't stick together. In fact they seperated perfectly!

No kind gesture of a coupon with which to make another purchase of General Mills food products was offered (from a company with revenue of 17.63 billion USD in 2020) in way of compensation for my troubles.

Disgraceful service and I will make a point of never buying from General Mills again and will also advise people to also follow suit. They do not deserve the business when they really give the impression that they don't care for their customers wellbeing.

Found a piece of fiberglass in my kids'…

Found a piece of fiberglass in my kids' cereal one day. I called them about it and they asked me to send them proof of purchase and the scan code so they could refund me the $2.00 I spent on it.
Horrible quality control from these guys. Watch out for them.

Nature Valley Granola Bars Complain

I’ve been buying Nature Valley granola bars for a long time without complaints but i bought 3 days ago and I found a piece of black plastic gum in one of the granola bars and it was very unpleasant. You have to have more safety when processing these products .I hope General Mills read these reviews to improve quallity, satsifaction and safety.

PD: I Never buy them again

Product Recall....

On the 19th May 2020 I also responded to a product recall, after much going and growing they instructed me to dispose of the product and said that you would send me vouchers to replace the loss. Over 2 months has passed and to date I still haven’t received any vouchers.

I’m not asking for compensation, I am asking them to simply replace the tins of sweetcorn they told me to dispose.
This shouldn’t be this complicated for such a large company!!!!

Responded to recall for sweet corn…

Responded to recall for sweet corn (bought 24 tins from amazon) and so far have rung the freephone number given to be told to send an email, sent email, no response, sent second email, no response, went on to their website and sent message through the site, received a response telling me to send proof of purchase and photos of all bottoms of the tins. I did this and attached all the photos and proof invoice and then received an email in response requested I sent proof of purchase and photos. The total cost for the 24 tins was £10.20. Absolutely appalling service so far.

I wish they took their commitment to…

I wish they took their commitment to providing safe food more seriously. GMO corn and artificial colors and flavors should not be in products served to kids when we know they contribute to diseases and allergies and adhd! And how can they justify putting healthier ingredients in products for other countries??! But I’m the USA they load it up with slow killers. Shameful.

Products contaminated out of the factory

ed to buy Old El Paso Wholegrain tortillas all the time but in the past month have opened not one, but two packs and found the contents unfair for human consumption. The pack opened this week clearly contained some foreign object (bug?) between the second and third tortillas and the mould and rot was disgusting. I tried to complain to General Mills (sent photos and a description) and received a totally unsatisfactory response. I will never buy anything made by this company again and encourage others to also avoid their products.
