Really appreciated not having to piece…
Really appreciated not having to piece together all the moving parts to our out of state move. Our liason Becca was an excellent communicator, and helped walk us through the process. We had a minor hiccup, but they offered compensation and did the best to get answers for us. It wasn't their fault, it was a lack of communication on the drivers end. But all ended well.
Predatory Billing, Unprepared Movers, and Deceptive “Settlement” Tactics – A Nightmare Experience
I was quoted $837 for my local move in Atlanta. This estimate was based on inventory I submitted in good faith. But on move day, Bellhop’s crew showed up grossly unprepared — with only a single Allen wrench, no standard moving tools, and zero equipment for disassembly or safe handling of furniture.
This lack of preparation directly led to delays. I had to hire outside help to complete the move. Despite this, I was blindsided with a final bill of over $1,800, with no real-time updates or opportunities to approve or reject the extra time. There was no communication as the job dragged on — just an inflated charge dumped on me after the fact.
Several of my belongings were damaged, including furniture and décor. Bellhop’s solution? A $449 “settlement” — but only if I agreed to drop my dispute and pay the full inflated bill. No actual refund. Just a credit dangled as leverage. That is not restitution — that is coercion.
Bellhop continues to point fingers, claiming the job took longer due to “extra inventory”. That is categorically false. What caused the delay was their own operational failure. Their crew was under-equipped, under-informed, and under-delivered in every way.
They cite their Terms of Service to justify the bill, but terms do not excuse incompetence. Nor do they justify holding a damage settlement hostage unless I submit to charges I never agreed to.
have escalated this to my credit card provider and filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and consumer protection agencies. I even offered to pay the original quote in full — despite the inconvenience and damage — and was still met with zero flexibility.
Do not be fooled by their polished website or friendly booking process. Bellhop’s business model seems designed to lowball quotes, arrive ill-equipped, and then back you into a corner with unexpected fees, while hiding behind hourly billing fine print.
If you value transparency, accountability, and professionalism — look elsewhere. You deserve better. We all do.
Easy and Great workers
Easy and straight forward booking and follow up - the movers we also great....Both courteous and focused.
Horrible Experience – Stay Far Away from Bellhop!
I had one of the worst moving experiences ever with Bellhop. I hired them to move a one-bedroom apartment — just a queen bed, two dressers, and two nightstands. I was quoted $202/hour for two movers and a truck, with an estimated total of $606 for 3 hours. Sounds reasonable, right? Unfortunately, what I got was a complete disaster.
The movers showed up with no urgency and worked incredibly slowly. One of them was constantly on his phone, and they even spent two hours just moving things around in my backyard. They clearly dragged out the time on purpose, and what should have taken 3 hours ended up taking 7 hours.
Because all my belongings were already in their truck, I had no choice but to continue with the service — they left me with no option to stop. In the end, I was charged a total of $1,302 — more than double the original estimate — just for a small one-bedroom move.
To make matters worse:
I had already packed everything myself, and they only needed to move three boxes and a few furniture items.
They dragged boxes, scratched my floors, and damaged furniture.
One of the movers broke a bag of cement, which spilled on my cat tree. It was brought inside without being cleaned off, and sand scattered all over my house — upstairs, in the hallway, and in the bedroom. I had to spend hours cleaning up their mess.
I reached out to Bellhop multiple times, but they offered no solution and continued to charge me more. This company is predatory, unprofessional, and dishonest. They clearly don’t care about their customers — only about squeezing every last dollar out of them.
Do NOT use Bellhop. I would never recommend them to anyone. I am currently exploring legal action and disputing the charges. This company should not be in business.
THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER
THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER. They claim to be local but they are not. They broker local people who are not experienced and break things. Then they offer payback BY THE POUND!!!! They broke a priceless painting. The glass in the frame and the frame broke scraping the painting. They broke much of my new packing bags. They broke a chair and scratched the walls in delivery. I asked to be compensated. They offer $20. I don’t have the power to make them do right but I have the power of the pen and I will continue giving bad reviews if it helps someone else avoid what I went through.
I deeply regret hiring Bellhop for my move. What should have been a simple, local move turned into one of the most exhausting and frustrating experiences I’ve ever had. I’m sharing this to help others avoid the same mistake.
To be fair, the movers themselves were friendly and respectful, I don’t blame them personally. But being friendly is not enough when clear instructions are ignored and the entire process becomes a disaster.
I clearly explained that I only needed help moving the large items, my bed, refrigerator, couch, and table. I was fully prepared to handle the smaller boxes on my own. Despite this, the movers brought almost everything, which unnecessarily extended the process by hours.
They were originally scheduled to start the move around 2:00 p.m., and I booked my building’s elevator from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., later extended to 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The movers didn’t arrive at my original apartment until 3:13 p.m., and they didn’t get to my new apartment (just 2.8 miles away) until nearly 11:00 p.m.
To make matters worse, none of my furniture was wrapped even though it should have been. Items were loaded directly onto the truck. As a result, multiple pieces now have scratches and stained, which is both frustrating and unacceptable.
By the time they arrived, I had already been awake since 4:00 a.m. the day before. I was physically and mentally exhausted. Instead of getting to settle into my new home, I found myself carrying furniture with my own hands, just to help them finish. Even worse, my two children, ages 11 and 8, had to help as well. We had no beds, no chairs, no table, nothing was set up. I couldn’t leave them alone in the unit, so we had no choice but to assist.
The move finally ended around 3:30 a.m.
Now, I’m being billed $215 per hour for every hour beyond the 3-hour booking, all for a job that went completely off track due to delays, poor communication, and failure to follow simple instructions.
This move should have been quick, smooth, and affordable. Instead, it turned into a nightmare that left me emotionally drained, physically sore, and financially stressed. I hired Bellhop because they were recommended by the Livly app and seemed like a professional choice. Sadly, they didn’t deliver on that promise.
If you’re looking for a stress-free, reliable move, please think twice. Being friendly isn’t enough when your time, money, and belongings are handled so carelessly. I truly hope my experience helps others avoid the same mistake.
By far the worst movers we have ever used.
The move was 2 Blocks from point A to point B. The movers not only did $1500 damage to the floors of the move out property (this was the repair estimate done by the company Bellhop recommended) then dented a less than 1 year old refrigerator, rubbed the finish off one side of a chest and totally ruined both pieces of a $5000 sectional sofa. I actually saw as the put the last piece of the sofa on a very wet, dirty ramp and SHOVED it down the ramp. By the time I could get to the door to try and stop this the damage was done. For all of this their settlement offer was $1942.00, including the floor damage repair of $1500.
Well Organized Processes…
I appreciated that there was OVER-COMMUNICATION of what was going to happen throughout the entire process. They tell you the cost, when they will pull it from your account, etc. Just overall, a very organized process.
They did an amazing job
They did an amazing job, it was really useful. I encourage everyone to use this service.
Excellent service
Excellent service. Nicholas and his team are amazing ! Highly recommend.
AVOID
Unclear how this company is rated so highly, perhaps there are regional differences. If in Atlanta area, please avoid at all costs. NOT A MOVING COMPANY. They contract moves to anyone - no one shows up with a Bellhop truck or a Bellhop shirt as advertised or suggested. They also train movers on the job. Their claims policy is written so that practically anything can be destroyed and not covered - “Marble, ceramic, particleboard, chip-core, or pressboard, “natural materials”, whatever they consider minor damage or if the item was “too” heavy” - none of that is covered or reimbursable if damaged according to fine print. I suppose concrete would be an unnatural material but would probably be too heavy to be covered.
I was told I would be receiving a full-service move. I very specifically discussed a full service move with Bellhop coordinators as including disassembly, protection and reassembly of my furniture. The individuals showed up separately, not as a team, with no packing materials or boxes. Furniture was not properly padded. Large portions of furniture was left exposed or not padded at all despite repeatedly requesting furniture padding and wrapping.
3 individuals were training another 2 “recruits”. One of the “recruits” showed up over an hour into the move, disrupted the move long enough to destroy my desk and then was sent home.
It was a disaster.
My L-shaped desk was destroyed. My large ceramic planter that was part of a set was destroyed. My entertainment center was broken. 2 of my 6 dining room chairs were dented. My sectional couch was left standing on end vertically (on the sides) . My guest bed could not be put back together because items were left at my old address.
I dont hold the movers as responsible as I hold Bellhop for sending an ill-prepared team. They are also responsible for assuring me of a “full-service” move with appropriate furniture care, assembly and reassembly. I specifically clarified with BellHop personnel that my furniture would be taken apart, PROTECTED and reassembled and was reassured that it would. I also clarified this with the move lead via text the day before.
I would prefer to pay more and have my items delivered intact and receive an actual full-service move. I wish I had been given appropriate, transparent expectations.
Stress free
Stress free. The guys were so kind and moved so quick! I took a phone call and before I got off they had all my furniture wrapped and ready to load. They easy to communicate with and made sure sure I was happy with where all the furniture ended up.

This is a broker not a moving company
This is a broker not a moving company. I should have read ALL the reviews before I booked them to move a heavy item for me. Anyhow I booked three guys for a two hour block. Guy’s came on time and did a great job and completed the work in less than an hour. The “Broker” charges my card accordingly and all was done. Well then the same afternoon I get an additional charge of $240 on my card. I called customer service (A Joke within itself, see bad reviews on that) and was told that it was an additional charge for going over my two hour booking by 1 1/2. I explained that they indeed got the Job done within one hour of my two block and was told I would have to prove it. At this point I’m trying to figure out that one so Im just going to say be aware that this “broker” is bad news.

Good experience with a fair price.
Good experience with a fair price.
Didn't love that the movers are a little careless with the items. They dropped a heavy wardrobe because one person tried to carry it instead of 2. They also damaged 2 of my items that bounced down the driveway after falling off the dolly. Bellhop did give me some money back for those 2 items but honestly, if the movers were a little more careful, it wouldn't have happened.

This company is a scam
This company is a scam. They will sell you packing - but they won't finish packing. They sell moving materials - but not enough. THe movers won't correct the incorrect packing. And lastly the company will overcharge you and make you work for a refund if you ever get one. Avoid this company at all cost.
