beyond displeased with bellhop and I will not use them again. to start: bellhop is apparently like the expedia or booking.com for moving… they’re a a third party that outsources multiple other companies to meet your moving needs (this was a long distance move from LA to SJ with furniture only and a few pre-packed boxes), so their photos online with Bellhop trucks and Bellhop tshirts are extremely misleading.
My loaders were with Saulty’s Moving. they showed up on time, they were polite and informative.
The truck and driver (Reload Global Trucking?), however, showed up more than 3.5 hours late! Not once did the driver reach out to me to let me know of their whereabouts. First, at 30min late, I was told that they were a little delayed and hit some traffic but that they’d be there in the next hour. Then at that 1.5hr late mark, the next update was something about inspections and should be “released soon” but no one knew what that meant. At 2.5 hours late, my loading team lead tells me that he was told that the driver was PULLED OVER BY POLICE, and to give it another hour.
All of that time that my loading team spent waiting around for the truck and supplies… they literally would have been done and we all would have been on the road. they did get started about a half hour past our start time to get boxes staged in preparation for the truck. but then we all twiddled our thumbs for 2.5 hours after that
The truck finally arrived at 3 hours & 40 minutes late. Still, driver did not apologize or address the fact that he was almost 4 hours late. he never even spoke to me
From here, the loaders loaded my boxes and then MINIMALLY wrapped my furniture with protective blankets or shrink wrap (using severely insufficient supplies brought by the truck). they did a terrible job with my sofa. it’s a deep-seater and about 8ft long. they didn’t cover it entirely nor did they secure all of the cushions so they fell on the ground, they then laid it (back down) onto the filthy truck bed. this sofa is 90% of the reason I pay for movers in the first place. I want professionals handling it and ensuring it is moved without damage. My bedframe is tufted fabric… and they didn’t even shrink wrap it.
Loaders finished 1:20hr after the truck arrived.
Upon delivery, my unloaders (Smart Moving Inc) arrived within the 1hr arrival window, and my truck arrived 30min after my arrival window. The unload was fairly smooth. However, I was then very uncomfortably approached by the lead unloader, insisting that I tip. I had the understanding that I could tip all of my movers via my Bellhop dashboard. Because of this, I did not prepare myself with cash, as I was going to tip with a credit card online. The lead unloader told me that I couldn’t do that, so he called his boss and put me on the phone with him. The first thing the boss says is “so you wanna tip my guys?” and I’m thinking “well, not anymore if there’s such insistence.” (look, I worked in the service industry for YEARS. I’m not going to NOT tip. but no one should ever make someone feel uncomfortable about it and pressure them to tip).
Overall, my cream-colored fabric sofa arrived BLACK on one side, and black on every edge and corner. My cream-colored fabric bedframe, edges all black. My TV stand must have been placed on its side, and the shelves all fell off, causing damage and missing pegs. My record player cabinet arrived with busted edges. They had very little regard for my furniture.
I chose to book with Bellhop because of their guaranteed flat fee for long distance moves. I would have preferred spending more money for the hourly offered by other moving companies. I’m incredibly displeased with the quality offered by Bellhop.
To note (cuz if the "owner" responds, they're likely to mention it as if it were sufficient): 4 pieces of furniture damaged and/or filthy = $303 settlement offer. that amount didn't even cover the cost to clean 2 of the 4 items

They put back together my bed, kids dresser, etc without me even asking. They were polite, kind and I was utterly impressed. Thank you Bellhop!!!

In addition, there was a hesitatancy to put our other bed together even though it was clear that they were to put it back together. In addition, they left five furniture items wrapped in blankets and or shrink wrap and left all of the shrink wrap that they did remove in the middle of our garage. We also had a few broken items, a lamp, part of a dresser and a desk. We look forward to hearing from Bellhop.

Movers arrived on time. Wrapped our belongings and completed a 30 miles move within 5 hrs for 1 bed 1 bath move with 2 people's living items and furniture. Movers are professional. They placed boxes marked do not stack on top and took extra care for boxes with glass logo. They also know what they were doing and made as few trips as possible on the elevators. Driver drove the mover truck with great skill and did turns and back up no problem. Bellhop sent us packing materials. The boxes sent are good quality although they only sent 1 roll of tape. They sent two small roll of bubble wrap for 19 boxes. I didn't think they were enough but we had many towels. Movers took care for shelves on the furniture. Movers did not use booties for carpet but they were not treading mud. Overall I would recommend them and would use them again for future move. They were quick, no fuss, easy to work with.

They loaded my truck. Didn't use provided straps. Put heavy boxes on top of light.
On the move all the boxes at the front tumbled and ruined my furniture.
Their customer service refused to open a complaint because I had an access to the track to add a few more small items to the back of the truck before the move.
And they make you leave tips and reviews for the loading team before you actually get the delivery so you don't know the quality of the loading done.
Stear clear.

Note that furniture was wrapped in plastic and blankets.
But it didn't help due to negligence of the lead of the movers who skipped on using provided straps for first 11 feet of the truck. And also didn't arrange furniture along the walls to protect it but put heavy on top of light. I've got plenty of photos of the wrapped furniture broken through with the wrap still on it, would love to post here, but don't see how.

We had a great experience with Bellhop Moving. We ran into a couple of personal glitches and the Bellhop movers were very nice and accommodating. They worked fast and efficiently and they were able to fit a lot of stuff in a small truck. Could not have managed this move without the guys from Bellhop!

Bellhop was amazing during our long distance move. Right from the first time I spoke to them, they were helpful and understanding of my situation. We had to change the dates more than twice and bellhop was super flexible with that. Our coordinator Cheyenne was incredible. He accommodated all our requests and most importantly he was always reachable.
The guys who drove the truck and the guys who unloaded all did a fantastic job!
