Refusing to pay winnings

I won a few grand here when I've literally lost 6 figures at other bookmakers overs over the last 15 years. Win a little bit and this mob is trying to use any of their terms and conditions to get out of paying. I will give you a full and detailed run down so you can see Im not just some disgruntled staff or a competitor like they've suggested on other terrible reviews here.

Basically I opened an account earlier in Oct 2024. I have banned myself at a few places where I've bet before and these guys had an ad I saw I think it was on Instagram or Facebook from memory. I liked the site and I tried my luck with 500. Didnt win and tried another 500.

I had some luck and I won some bets on the races and then I lobbed it on an NFL game that was about to play at the line because I was home that day and about to watch the game.

I decided to withdraw some money and thats when I was asked for the following (quoted from the email) "Just a quick reminder regarding your recent withdrawal request.

As previously advised, we must routinely check that the account nominated by a customer to receive a withdrawal payment is held in the same name and address that they registered with GetSetBet.

You can help by sending a copy of a recent statement for the account nominated in your withdrawal request."

OK I'd never had to do that before but I sent them what they asked for. When they saw that I had been given funds by someone else they then asked me for a copy of that persons bank statement. At the time I admit I told a small lie saying it was my sister when it was really my missus. I said it was my sister because I hoped they wouldn't make me ask her. I've had my issues with the punt and truth is I probably shouldn't have been punting. I lied to my missus about what the money was for and so to ask for the bank statement she was going to ask why.

This GetSetBet mob wouldn't budge they said I had to get the statement. For all the money I've lost over the years I wasn't going to let around 5k I won I think it was go. So I asked my wife. After a lot of grilling she gave me the statement, it was embarassing and I'm embarassed that gambling has done what it's done to me and my family the lies all that.

I sent them the statement and I figured that would be the end of it and they'd pay me the money. However just today I got this email from them:

"Dear Matthew

I refer to previous email correspondence requesting a copy of your bank statement showing your deposit to GetSetBet, & subsequently a statement from Claire Adams' bank account from which the funds used to make your deposit to GetSetBet, & other operators, was received. Thank you for sending through these statements.

Our review of these statement has determined that your GetSetBet account has been funded by, & operated for the benefit of, someone other than you. This is a breach of our Terms.

Therefore, in accordance with our Terms:

your account will remain deactivated; and
all bets placed by this account have been voided.
Your deposit of $1,000 was returned to you on 23rd October.

My money is my wifes money. Someone elses benefit what are you on about its the same pool of money you imbeciles. What sort of disgusting operation are these people running and how can it be allowed. I did some research after this email and so many people have had problems with them. I am raging. I am going to go to Ombudsmen and police and racing authorities if I'm not paid. Hell I'll go on A Current Affair and show them all the money I've lost and I always paid so why dont these pay when they lose?

Absolutely dodgy

Absolutely dodgy. Out a bet on which they accepted, it won. They then did not pay out as they said "the race was closed" but happily accepted the bets. I wonder what would have happened if they lost. So bad

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOKIE IT SAYS THEY ARE LICENSED BUT THEY ARE NO DIFFERENT TO AN INDIAN CALL SCAM CENTRE.

I deposit and put 2 bets they block my account immediately after on the first day. Ask for all types of ID which can be used to identity theft. Then they says your IP is the problem as multiple people have used your IP which is a croc of sh*5... They do not refund my money or let me get my money out of my account. Its a full blown scam WATCH OUT! They will talk to you on live chat and just say 'its been investigated by the compliance manager' but really they are doing jack sh*5 and simply delaying whilst stealing your money. BETTER OFF USING YOUR $ AS TOILET PAPER then giving it to these grubs. They have my IDS and $250 WATCH OUT!

Deliberate deceit

Update: in response to below, I didn't ask for a refund, I brought it to the attention of the help on the site. It was clear the bets were made within the final minute and i was unable to get assistanceprior to the race, id resigned myself to losing those addnl 2 bets, rather than offer to look at their system, which is what I wouldve been happy with I was told I could not receive a refund as the race had run, TO WHICH I REPLIED "I know" i subsequently closed the account. So once again GETSeTbet telling more lies. Please post the screen shot of the chat where I'd asked for a refund (you won't find it because I DIDNT). I standby my original comment, more so now, as they've lied in their response.

Fix your site,

Once a bet is placed with these crooks, you review your ticket, if you hit keep bets it alludes to do you want to keep "this" bet, when what it actually means is keep the same bet on your slip. At this point it takes you back to the bet screen (no balance on it) usually with an odds change, asking you to confirm.

What you are actually confirming is another bet exactly as you just made, not confirmation of the odds change which is alluded to, essentially getting multiple bets on the same thing. Poor set up, obviously by design to take money from people who don't realise, very deceitful.

Reporting this to the ombudsman.

My account with these guys is closed, very dishonest.

The facts are, Mick repeatedly placed a series of bets. On every occasion - and before the bets were placed - he was given opportunity to confirm the bet details, which he did. On confirming the bets, a bet confirmation receipt was displayed to Mick.

AFTER the race had finished Mick claimed the bets were placed in error. He demanded a refund.

The bets were all requested and confirmed by Mick PRIOR to the race. Mick did not contact us PRIOR to the race. AFTER the race has finished a refund cannot be issued.

Had Mick's bets won he would have been happy and paid. There is no case fo refunding the best he requested PRIOR to the race simply be cause AFTER the race they had lost.

We attempted, at length, to help and explain this to Mick. Mick only wanted his refund.

In reality, Mick is being dishonest and deliberately deceitful.

Hi Mauro, there is no GetSetBet account registered in the name of Mauro Rossi.

For the record, we pay out millions of dollars to thousands of customers every month. Payouts are made twice per day, every day of the year.

If you are looking for a new…

If you are looking for a new competitive bookmaker look no further than Getsetbet. I have bet with them in the past and have always been prompt and friendly with their service. Not to mention the very competitive odds they offer on all of their markets. Support a smaller, local bookmaker and ensure your money stays here within Australia. Give them a try and you won’t regret it!
