I gave up on Giveaway of the Day

Many times, I've requested a link for download by email. It's rarely sent. Negative comments left on the website are quickly removed. This used to be a great website. I'm sorry to see it go downhill. (I informed the Giveaway of the Day website I posted this comment and they blocked my access to the website with a 503 Service Unavailable).

Avoid

Avoid, used to be great now absolutely terrible. Sick of them deleting comments instead of assisting when their offers have issues, and offers that are nothing more than trials I can get for free anywhere.

I tried to install a game

I tried to install a game - Farm Frenzy and my anti-virus alerted that the setup.exe was quarantined due to a virus. I posted this on the gamegiveawayoftheday.com site but it was then removed. I have downloaded hundreds of games previously with no problems. I'm not sure if I will go back now, since they removed the warning post with no reply or explanation.

It's a good source of collected free giveaways however the software offered isn't always the best of software. It's up to the consumer to discern between which is good and bad using whatever method they choose I've gotten quite a few useful things from the site but I also generally know which software to stay away from as well. Altogether it's not a bad site I still use it and have been for a year or two with no real bad issues outside of human errors (being me).

ANOTHER CON JOB.

Same as ever with a number of Giveawyoftheday FREE programmes which are anything but free. Fort9ect, the latest, IS free to download and perform a scan...but what they don't tell the punter UP FRONT, IS, that to correct any of the myriad of files/faults it inevitably finds, costs a minimum of £25+ for a one year subscription!!!!!????!!!

Used to be amazing years ago, now it serves no purpose

I've been using the website for years and have watched it decline in popularity and quality the past few years.

The concept itself was good - a software company gives away their product through giveawayoftheday to the public, for 24 hours. Users are allowed to install the paid software for free during those 24 hours and keep it forever, provided they don't have to re-install it.

The users get free paid software - the developers receive constructive feedback from the users in form of comments under the giveaway, and giveawayoftheday receives ad revenue.

Ad revenue is no longer feasible, the user comments went from constructive to abusive, the quality and trustworthiness of software offered has declined severely, the "use forever until you have to re-install" licenses have been mostly replaced with 3 or 6 month trial ones. The appeal for both users and software publishers is no longer there.

Some of the software given away is very amateurish, of concerning quality, produced by rather shady looking companies/entities. Really makes you wonder whether you're not installing spyware along with it.

The new Android section offers many apps that are, and have always been free, misleadingly presenting them as paid.

It is surprising that the website is still around, as it serves no useful purpose any more, and it's very sad to see what it has become, compared to what it once was, with hundreds of comments and users engaging in discussions, vs 0-3 comments on today's shovelware offers.

Decline of what was a good website

They keep getting worse and worse. Now, none of the giveaways give you a serial # because their site is broken and they delete your comments. The games are already free from the makers website. There is no giveaways on this site. They give you limited shareware for 3 months. They yell at you and blame you for their mistakes. We pay their salary but watching tons of ads but they do not acknowledge this. I am afraid they need to be shut down. Last year has been really bad. Boycott them so they cannot get free money from you. Not even one good review of them here. You also have to spam on your face book ads for their crapware so we do their advertising too.

anything goes

There is no QA for offered giveaways. Pretty much about anything goes. MG Office — for example — had about at least one year time to fix its »false positive«. Still, it's not fixed. There is no such thing as „we don't have time to fix this and that". Especially after well over a year.

There is also the comment section, which seems to be ghosted and appear only to those chosen by GOTD to which they allow them to be viewed. Critique never was and never will be tolerated. That's their right to do so. Because it's their website of course.

I'm not dependent on GOTD, but sometimes I look what they have to offer. Most of the time I actually buy the software, because those giveaway licenses usually lasts only as long as you don't have to reinstall Windows.

A lot of offerings & games are very useful & more than welcome, but just give a polite negative comment & it gets deleted. Complain & they deny it happens, persevere & you get in effect 'blacklisted' & are sent no more offerings. Pity.

The Company is a Scam. They don't want genuine feedback, they delete your comments when they are not favourable and the software they offer is with equally unconscionable companies.
Should not be allowed to continue with deceptive behaviour

Giveawayoftheday.com is a scam

Giveawayoftheday.com has become a dangerous scam website imo featuring 'free' software containing spyware, malware, trojans, viruses and more. After downloading an e-book reader, I used virustotal.com to scan the file and found a trojan. I normally scan all my downloads and have seen other suspicious files from Giveawayoftheday.com in the past. I used to think that GOTD were simply not checking the integrity of their free files but now I strongly believe they are complicit in spreading malware into the community. Could they be receiving a benefit from malware / ransomware? I posted my concerns about the trojan virus on the Giveaway page only to discover my post was deleted soon after! Why would an honest website delete a warning to others without checking the veracity of the claim? After reading other posts about GOTD, it has become clear to steer away from this scammer website. I have since unsubscribed...

Concept itself is good

The idea of giving away free software licenses for a limited amount of time is a good one and do here and there get some good worthwhile programmes sent out. But lately, I have been noticing that around 95% of time, any old rubbish seems to get chucked out - usually software which you can get better alternatives of elsewhere and are free of charge. But I shall still keep checking daily just in case something worthwhile does come along again at some point.

Veyr shady site

Veyr shady site. If you share your bad experience about any program who they promote, you message will be deleted immediately. Most givaeways are for completely useless ''optimization'' and registry ''cleaning'' chinese programs who most antivirus detect as PUP. If install some of them will see that they are trying to connect to some IP addresses, even if you disable automatic updates in the program. In short - giveawayoftheday promote shady companies and I wouldn't use their software even if they pay for that. Don't use their site.

Promotion of copyright piracy

The site has been offering software from companies with questionable practices, such as hidden company info and license termination well before the stated cutoff. Most recently (jan 26 2019) they had an offer for Issuhub Pro. The Issuhub website blatantly promotes the uploading and sharing of copyrighted material. Most of the comments complaining of this were deleted by giveawayoftheday.com.

Free licenses

A great idea, giving away software licenses. Offers valid for 24hrs. Licenses sometimes somewhat crippled (like no support, only valid for one build etc). Some good useful programs, and some less good. All in all a good site.
