Total SCAM: Global Atlantic Long Term Care (LTC) annuity

The Global Atlantic Long Term Care (LTC) annuity is a TOTAL SCAM!! You only qualify for the benefits once you aren't able to complete 2 activities of daily living (ADLs), but then they force you to take payments over 6 years - as if someone would live that long!! In my mother-in-law's case, she has Alzheimer's and will most likely pass away within 2 years - so we will have lost two thirds of the policy benefit. STAY AWAY - TOTAL SCAM - they only want to take your money and never give it back!

I was paying for my funeral even though…

I was paying for my funeral even though I am a 100% Disabled Veteran I wanted it a different way. My Cost were $8,200.00. I was told I could make payments. I made 52 payments of 134.97 for a total of $7,288.38. I stopped other payments from being automatic out of my account. I called and they claimed I owed another 65 payments to pay this completely. Talk about crooks. I canceled this because I did not buy burial insurance I bought a coffin, and cremation and a holder for my Son and his family. I have life insurance with the VA and other insurance carriers do not need life insurance or burial insurance. I was led to believe I was paying for the cost of the funeral and equipment. This is a scam and is a rip off for the older people. NO one in their Right mind would pay Over $15,000.00 on an $8,000.00 cost burial unless your nuts. SCAM stay away from these people they will steal you bind. My refund is For Less Than $2,500.00 when I have paid in $7,288.00. What a hook and crook.

I HAD wanted to cancel my Neptune…

I HAD wanted to cancel my Neptune Society cremation plan and receive a refund. The representative at Neptune Society provided me with the number to contact Global Atlantic. I’m glad that I contacted Global Atlantic because I needed to update my personal information, such as my name and address. The courteous customer agent was very helpful and emailed me the forms that I needed to fill out.

I didn’t understand one form, so I omitted it. Global Atlantic sent me an email and letter requesting my signature.

Sounds pretty organized and competent, right ? I had decided that I did not want to cancel my policy after all.

The letter I received from Global Atlantic was mailed to the correct address, but had wrong name. My name is France and the letter was addressed to Frances.

I contacted Global Atlantic and two different customer agents confirmed that the policy number belonged to Frances Eilers who lived in Texas and wanted me to confirm my Texas address.

Had I not caught the error and signed the legal document and emailed it to Global Atlantic, I would have canceled Frances Eilers policy.

I thought that paying for a cremation plan in advance was supposed to simplify the process of dying with dignity and respect.

Initial Contact: You contacted Global Atlantic via Neptune Society to update your name and address while considering canceling your cremation plan.

Form Omission: You left out one form you didn't understand, prompting Global Atlantic to follow up with a signature request letter.

Decision to Keep Policy: You decided not to cancel your pre-need plan after all.

Name & Account Mix-Up: The follow-up letter was addressed to "Frances" instead of "France." When you called, two representatives insisted the policy number belonged to a "Frances Eilers" in Texas.

Near-Miss: If you had signed and returned the form without catching the one-letter typo, you would have accidentally canceled someone else's policy.

Realized I was getting scammed when the interest on my Neptune Society pre-need had an additional $1000+
for interest. The original $2400 had turned into over $3000. I was told lots of lies by the sales person for NS.
Had no way to research this company because you do not know who you are dealing with. I am so tired of being scammed. I had paid in I paid in $498.15 and received back $263.79. Highway robbery and its legal.
Do not do business with Neptune Society, Forethought Life Insurance and Global Atlantic they are all connected. Readthe reviews

I have NEVER been so FRUSTRATED with any company as I am with this one.

I have NEVER been so FRUSTRATED with any company as I am with this one. My experience with this UNCARING, DISINTERESTED, INCOMPETENT company has been agonizing. I have been trying since APRIL, and this is being written in JULY, to just get my wife's "Forethought Life Insurance" pre-need funeral plan switched from one checking account number to another for automatic withdrawal. I have sent multiple voided checks, filled out their request form MULTIPLE TIMES, and then they require a "wet signature" although their application form states this nowhere. I have SENT the form again with WET SIGNATURES, and once again I receive a "Final Attempt - Action Required on Pending Claim" letter. My multiple letters to MANAGEMENT have been completely ignored and two interminably long and painful phone calls to "Customer Service" representatives in foreign lands have proven USELESS.

Stay clear of this company!

every review is negative as this company does everything to hold onto other peoples money. They are the worst financial company I have ever encountered.
Poor customer service, unprofessional.
I would suggest you stay well clear of these crooks!

NINE years ago I prepaid the remaining premiums on a life insurance policy with Global Atlantic / Forethought. NOW, nine years later, they sent me a refund with an unprofessional form letter which chided me for paying off my policy NINE years ago. I tried calling the Customer Service Center number, which is off-shore, and could understand absolutely nothing the rep said. When I tried to go on-line, their system was off-line. I don't think there could be a less professional insurance company in existence.

Good at Holding Onto My Money, but not paying it to me on Request

For the past few years, every time I have tried to withdraw money, they have come up with an excuse to hold onto it. This year, they said my faxed request was unclear. I refaxed it, then a couple weeks later got a message saying "owner's name does not match our records and sgnature is unclear." Another year, they said my signature did not match. I can understand their caution but the check is being sent to my home address, which is on file with them. I will call them again tomorrow. Note that they only have one star reviews so don't deserve a 2.8!

Annuities

Customer service is terrible. Because our agent died I have had to deal with these people myself. After 10 years of paying rider fees on our annuities it was time to start receiving our Guaranteed Lifetime Income Benefit. Filled out the forms 2 months ago for a 6/1/2025 start date of yearly payouts. Heard back that both annuities were pended. I called them 5/28 to insure everything was on track. Was told forms were sent in wrong so corrected and sent them back. Nothing, no response. Called back 5/30 was told forms were sent in wrong. Corrected and sent back. Nothing no response. Called back 6/4 and was told one of forms was paid and the other was sent in wrong. Every time I called I talked to a different person and was given different instructions. No one speaks english well and very difficult to understand. I asked to speak to a supervisor but one was not available. I asked about the yearly payments I was to receive on the form that they accepted and was told something very different than what my yearly statements show me, 15% less. The person told me there were added charges not just the rider charges. When my statements say Guaranteed Annual Income I assume this is the Guaranteed Annual Income. I asked her about it she got real snotty. What added charges? She mumbled something in a foreign language. There was no problem 10 years ago. They took our premiums without any questions. I just feel the longer they hold onto the payouts multiplied by the number of payouts they make is making them a lot of money. Global Atlantic your customer service terrible.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

This company can improve by caring for their customers and not charging them high payoff amounts if they do not meet the deadline. I was dealing with Forethought Life Insurance Company and after a year there is a final payoff figure to pay off the insurance policy. I was dealing with other issues and miss the payoff figure. The company said that they had sent me a letter which I did not get. After some months I called them to pay off the amount owing on the Policy and it was close to $2000 more because I had not paid it on time. They delayed the payoff amount and came up with same amount. I fully understand that there would be additional monies owed because of me missing the deadline but $2000 more is a bit much. This is not a company i want to deal with...not understanding at all.

GAFG is poorly structured and a disappointing company in the insurance/investment field…

GAFG is poorly structured with arcane policies and generally poorly trained phone reps. I had poor experiences in the 3 years I had an annuity with them. The distribution process was unnecessarily cumbersome and a waste of time and effort. Seven pages had to be sent and no errors or missed information was tolerated. The processing department worked very slowly and were not transparent in what they were doing or thinking when they processed my requested distribution requests. They were not willing to communicate with clients to share any information useful to its investors. I was unable to speak to them and express my problems. My other annuities processed my distributions by phone with one to two days of processing time. Their reps were well trained and more courteous than those at GAFG. Also, a simple request to find out the processing status would result on long hold times - sometimes 30 minutes or even more. Asking for a supervisor was even riskier as the hold time would be even longer. Complaints to management were futile since they never responded or took any action that improved the situation. It was by far the most disappointing annuity company I ever dealt with. Investors considering this company should beware of similar difficulties they will face and be frustrated with. My financial advisor who picked this company did a great disservice to me. Maybe they offer higher commissions than others.
