I moved from the UK to The Netherlands recently, and Gosselin were used by the UK firm to make the final stage of the delivery. My delivery had been delayed many many weeks, 8 weeks after the longest delivery date. I waited in on the day hoping that the stress and worry was finally over. I got a late phone call to say that they had gone home and would be there first thing in the morning. When they arrived, one asked my to wait while his colleague smoked a cigarette, which seemed bizarre to me. They them began bringing boxes in upside down. When I pointed this out to the smoking man he slowly turned the box over (there were big arrows all over it) to the sound of items falling through it. I checked that box before they left, nothing in it was damaged, no thanks to them. They continued bringing in boxes sideways etc as I checked them off on a list. At the end it turned out three boxes were missing. Naturally this was very upsetting for me. A phone call was made that I could not follow. I asked to note in 'remarks' the missing numbers, he then tried to convince me that the missing boxes were somehow inside the others. And then offered to start opening them, I just wanted them to leave by this point. I emailed the woman who had spoken to me the previous evening only to get an out of office email for two weeks, which obviously was extremely distressing, and left me with very little hope that the missing items would be found. They have tried to convince me that they are 'looking for the items' but I simply do not believe them.
I am now faced with making a claim, for boxes of items which I have not seen for nearly five months. Among them are several items that belonged to my deceased mother, and many other precious irreplaceable items. I do not want to make a claim, it is stressful and difficult. I want someone at Gosselin to hunt high and low for my missing boxes, and if they do not find them then to give me a report and tell me at what point they went missing. The two drivers who came must have known that the load was short before they left and tried to convince me otherwise. Gosselin if you are reading this you know what to do.
A scam of a company. I was charged more than 2000 euros for a simple job moving my personal effects (no furniture) from my one-bedroom apartment in the Netherlands to my new home in the UK. Gosselin advertises itself as an all-inclusive moving service with its own employees, but it turns out - and I only learnt this on the day of my move - that the company is merely a broker.
I was told by Gosselin that my belongings would be delivered in 1 to 3 weeks. Delivery took 5 weeks. When my items arrived, almost every piece of glassware was shattered and my shoes ruined. I have seen infants pack up homes more logically than the movers sent by Gosselin to my home in Utrecht. Fragile, highly valuable, and personal glassware (that I asked the movers to handle with care) was packed in single, thin layers of paper, crammed into the tops of flimsy boxes.
Gosselin's customer service staff are also abysmal. They claim that personal moves are each allocated a dedicated "moving coordinator." My coordinator, Dominique, didn't even bother answering her phone on the day of my collection, when the movers failed to show up for 6+ hours over the time I was initially given. I was later handed off to another moving coordinator who changed the dates of my delivery more than three times.
If you are looking to organise a professional or personal move, my advice is to choose anybody but Gosselin.
Absolutely horrendous. Appointments cancelled last minute and I was given several different quotes from them where the price rose with no context. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced from an incredibly rude woman. Avoid at all cost.
Avoid at all costs - shockingly amateurish planning and organization
They delivered my stuff to my UK address after it had been shipped from Hong Kong. A different firm handled the Hong Kong side and were very good. The contrast with Gosselin could not have been greater.
My experiences:
1- the crew arrived very late (around 11.45 am). Seems they only packed the van in the morning, which was a surprise given the large size of the shipment. Inevitably, this meant there was not nearly enough time left in the day for them to unpack and assemble everything, per the contract
2 - There were only 3 in the crew, not nearly enough for a move of this size, given the contact was to unload, unpack and assemble furniture
3 - the truck wasn’t big enough, so one crew member had to return back and pick up some other things later, meaning that they were actually down to just two men for over an hour - shows a further lack of planning and organisation
4 - Given the shortage of time, the crew were very rushed. They could not take sufficient breaks and they had to take shortcuts on things like floor preparation, wiping feet etc. They must have been completely exhausted by the end of the day. I wonder whether this is standard for them?
5 - Predictably, we ran out of time. So, I still have lots of boxes to unpack, and items to assemble, which is now going to cost me in terms of having to take more time away from work to finish their job.
Very unprofessional company and showed all the aspects of a bad moving company including:
-being late and not being apologetic
-not taking care of the furniture (mattress getting ripped as they didn’t cover it during the move)
-losing items during the move when it was only a domestic move
-not assembling the furniture correctly.
Would not recommend this company.
Super pleased with the service received on our recent international move. Prompt, professional service and our move manager answered all of our (many!) queries. Would definitely recommend.
We received an amazing service from Gosselin for our move. We were completely reassured by the sensible COVID-19 procedures in place and the professional moving team were a pleasure from start to finish. Thank you!
We ordered moving 200 kg of personal items from Baku to Italy.
The packaging stage went promptly and well.
Minuses: After pre-payment we submitted numerous various docs as advised by the Gosselin office. However, no estimate of when the boxes would arrive, was provided. And boxes didn’t move from the deposit.
After full pre-payment, no estimate was provided still. Instead, they’ve started asking more and more additional documents.
Only after Italy regional manager personally started to follow our case, things started to go in order.
Boxes arrived eventually with much delay, with due apologies. All items though were safe in place, none broken or damaged.
Advice: ask for full list of required documents & ask shipment estimate - signed & stamped.
Gosselin’s Moving Experience
It all went smoothly until we arrived home.
Upon receiving our shipment in Canada, we were disappointed that several of our items were smashed and an expensive knife set was stolen. Even more concerning was the invoice sent to us for an additional $2500 CND (approximate-it was quoted in euros-1630). In attempting to communicate with Gosselin we ended up dealing with a person named Alexander Iyamu. Our director from our international school at the time also tried to find out why we were being charged so much more money. However, she was curtly dismissed and they said she had no business interfering. Whenever we sent an email, Alexander would take several months to reply. The last time we tried to find out why they wanted more money was on July 15 of this year. He has never explained where this additional charge came from. Instead he reported us to a credit agency. We paid what they demanded which came to over $3000 CDN as we have always had an impeccable credit record and wanted to maintain that. Due to his delay in answering our emails, the company racked up over $300 in interest charges. We highly feel mistreated by this company. I might add that over 4 international moves we have never had any problems certainly nothing like this, and interestingly enough we were always within our allowance given by the school. Our recommendation is to avoid them at all costs.
Stay away ! They promised me the world and responded quickly until I paid deposit 100€, after that they started sending ridiculous instructions on their emails that were so complicated and I tried to call and email them, no replies and no avail! I wasn’t keen on using them anymore, and asked to cancel everything but no one of course actually replies to me. Had to dispute with the credit card company. Be careful that they are basically a scam! Gosselin transfers the service to BaggageHub, whoever they are, and it is basically a whole different service.
GOSSELIN IQ sold me a high quality Small Shipment on the promise of an expected 7-10 day transit, which it then handed off to its subcontractor, BaggageHub. My boxes where delivered after a full month, during that time I got no reliable information. Even though boxes did arrive fully intact, I was very frustrated by the timing (living out of a suitcase for a month !) and particularly the lack of communication, even blatant lies to keep me off their backs. My eventual complaint was unceremoniously handed of the BaggageHub (no further word from GOSSELIN, even though I made it up to the CEO !) who did not want to hear about, except for a very lukewarm apology and a pittance to silence me. Very unprofessional, very frustrating, never again !
Avoid Gosselin at all costs. We had a terrible experience with them moving from Moscow to London this past summer:
1) They delivered the shipment with a big delay because they didn't have any trucks coming from their Antwerp depot to London for several weeks!
2) They lost two of our boxes and didn't have a clue how and where (although all boxes had barcodes). They paid 100 EUR compensation (claiming this was out of courtesy because we hadn't purchased any additional insurance)!
3) They reneged on our door-to-door agreement which included full destination services with direct delivery from Antwerp to London and asked for additional payment for in/out warehouse handling and shuttle service in London. When I questioned these charges, the particular move coordinator in charge of our move answered that it was not possible to book groupage truck with direct delivery, although this was exactly how I had agreed with their Moscow sales manager for the Antwerp-London segment. After my repeated questions, the Moscow sales manager said: "During our detailed conversation I mentioned to offer you a direct and groupage delivery, however, shuttle services in London for both options were excluded and I stated to keep those surcharges in mind as we can’t tell whether a direct delivery to the residence will be possible or not. Also, those charges were excluded in order to be on the same price level with the competitors as they would not include shuttle services in destination part." and in a second email: "I can reassure you that usually direct delivery is never included in the offer in moving industry, especially, when destination address is not known. I urged you to expect this cost and it was never a hidden information."
Make your own judgement on the last point, but my interpretation is that they openly lied to us to get us to sign an agreement with them.
Very professional and friendly service. No complaints. Packed, stored and shipped our items across the pond with no fuss and no damage. Would recommend!
Appalling service and dreadful customer service.
I used this company to move a few small boxes or personal possession from Italy to Peru, at a cost of around €600. The problems started from day 1.
Nobody arrived to collect my shipping on the agreed date. As I was leaving the country this was obviously a problem. Nobody arrived the next day. Or the day after. It was over a week until the package was collected.
Whilst waiting for the delivery I received no communication from Gosselin, until an email was eventually sent to my place of work explaining that my package was waiting at customs.
I had to spend a whole day travelling to the shipping port at some paperwork had not been attached to the package to declare the items as personal goods. This meant that I didn’t have to pay any tax but did have to pay over $200 in handling and storage fees, which of course I have not been refunded.
When I received my boxes they were heavily damaged, and had not been shrink wrapped, a service I paid extra for. Several items were broken.
I have been in touch for over 3 months, and am still no closer to a resolution. The customer service approach is to apologise and say it will be ‘looked into’, but to never actually do anything which I assume is in the hope that you will give up.
To summarise, I paid €600 euros for a door to door service which was collected late and not delivered, and then was put another $200 out of pocket due to incompetence, for which no resolution has been offered and my constant communication ignored.
Avoid at all costs.
