Excellent experience
Excellent experience. Stayed three nights for work. Had a private dinner and a company party. Excellent. Room attractive and good breakfast.
1* service! Don’t waste your time or money
I visited The Grand on Monday 4th with my family and stayed for 1 night. The hotel is lovely and is located right on the beach front however the service was very poor.
It states on the website that check in is at 3pm, when we arrived we were advised our rooms were not ready and they will be ready at 4pm, an hour after they should be. Me and my family went to have some afternoon tea in the hotel while we waited for our rooms to be ready, we had a few bags on us, a buggy and our coats. We asked a member of staff if they could take our coats to the room, they both looked at each other laughed and replied ‘we don’t take coats’ very poor service from a 5 star hotel that charges £200 per night.
When we booked our rooms, we specified that a member of our party had a baby. We were put on the second floor having to carry the buggy up 2 flights of stairs with great difficulty. If there were not rooms available on the 1st floor we should have been offered help as a party of 7 females.
We finally have afternoon tea after being left waiting a while for our food, get into our room and we we’re missing 5 bags from one of the cars. We called down to reception, the member of staff asked if we ‘we are sure’ before hanging up. We call again and a gentleman said he would look into it, they had put 5 of our bags with all the our presents, clothes and jewellery in someone else’s room for them to potentially go through our bags.
The rooms were decorated nicely, and we were given large spacious rooms. Unfortunately they were not cleaned to a 5* standard, there was flowers and leaves on the floor, large red marks on the carpet by the television, a lot of hair in the baths and the sinks and the bed side cabinets were full of dust.
All in all as I have said it was a lovely looking hotel but I definitely wouldn’t visit there again, I’m sure there are many other hotels within walking distance of the pier with employee that have some managers.
5* Hotel 1* Service

Booked 4 rooms we had a baby buggy the rooms had 5 steps to get to and this was very difficult our cases your in the wrong room and the rooms were not cleaned properly hair in the bath and petals in another , reception staff refused to take our coats whilst having afternoon tea we went back and asked again they took them because we were staying at the hotel but they should have asked the first time. We were questioned by staff when we asked what had happened to our others cases he came up to check them we found a receipt they gave us with the wrong room number rooms took for ever to be ready over all for a hotel of that standard they need to be on top of things a bit better

Thank you for a wonderful Christmas day stay.
Staff excellent despite Tier 4 shutdown boxing day morning.
Customer excellence from hard working people.
On our honeymoon - Horrible Construaction noise right next to our room
This hotel is absolutely useless, we paid for one of the most expensive suite(Queen's room) over £800 and on the first day after we got married they asked to upgrade us to a better room claiming it courtesy of the hotel. What we didn't realise is that they put us out of our nice room right. next to a room near construction work, on monday morning I felt like the drill was in my head.
Not minding that the so called air conditioning did not work the room was boiling hot even after we switched off the heating, it was a horrific experience!!!!! not worth the price we paid. They are not considerate at all, as they put is out of our nice room to obviously put someone else in there.
DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL!!!!
The only good side was concierge was so nice as he always helped us park our car.

A beautiful victorian building in need of some serious TLC. It's quite expensive also. I enjoyed my stay but could really do with some modernisation.
