It was truly a pleasure to work with…

It was truly a pleasure to work with Grapevine, they always reacted quickly and were always very keen and active to understand the wishes of the prospective customer and to select properties accordingly.
Highly recommended!
We would definitely work with Grapevine again if we needed to find another property in the real estate sector.

Out for their commissions at any cost!

I’d like to warn everyone about these guys who are only interested in earning their commissions at any cost. In this case, a few thousand eur at the cost of my one-year old’s and my health. But the commissions add up! Just look at the fancy car they drive! They were the estate agents that dealt with the purchase of my house in 2021. 3 months after buying it I started to get mold growing in circles on the living room walls, in my clothes and on the pillows, everywhere! I contacted professionals and discovered the house had serious rising damp problems that had been cleverly covered up by the previous owners and which would cost me around 35,000 eur to repair. Luckily, I was in time to sue the sellers. 3 years later I won and have been paid the full amount for repairs. Grapevine properties were involved with the sale of the property prior to my purchase too. The first sale was made for only 90,000 eur because of the problems. Then the people who sold me the house did a cover-up job in 6 months and sold it to me for 132,500 eur. I suspect Grapevine Properties knew about the problems. They may come back and say I should have got a lawyer and a surveyor. I DID get a lawyer, but they used the law to make the property appear in the Land Registry as having been built in 2005, when in fact it was much older. In other words, they took advantage of the inefficiencies of the law to pass off a very old house as a home built in 2005. I also got the house assessed and valued as required by the bank. In any case that's not the point. The fact of the matter is there was no mention of the damp problems or honesty involved here. They could have rejected dealing with the people who did the cover-up job. The worst is that the owner of the estate agent even held my baby in his arms while I was looking around the house and told me I could contact them if I needed anything, knowing I was a new single mum to the area. Scruples are obviously something unfamiliar here. Not to be trusted! Sorry for sermon but these things need to be exposed!

Lovely trustworthy family run business…

Lovely trustworthy family run business who really know their stuff! Unlike some of the other local estate agents, they are very honest and have gone above and beyond to help with the settling-in process after the move. As well as being very responsive in their communications and taking time to patiently answer all of my million questions! Laura has done a fabulous job and remained very professional and supportive throughout the entire process. They also seem to have a very good rapport in the local area which is really great to see and well deserved! I couldn’t recommend Grapevine more highly. If you want to move to Spain or to buy a holiday home, these are your guys! :-D

Misleading all the way until it's too late

Don’t be fooled and blinded by the enthusiasm of buying a property in Spain.
Let alone this is the worse mistake anyone can do. The system there is outrageously corrupted and nothing is clear.
Grapevine Properties are taking advantage of your naivety and excitement of buying something in Spain.
You get sucked into a web of lies and only realise it once it’s too late. Nothing of what they’ve try to sell you is either legal or has the correct paper work. Do not ask them for any contacts, lawyer, builders, gardener, architects etc … They are all in it for a big fat commission and you’ll end up regretting it.

Damian, I am so sorry you have had such a negative experience with your property hunt in Spain. The legalities involved with buying a property in Spain can be frustrating! That's why we always recommend you use a lawyer who specialises in country properties that they can advise you every step of way. Wishing you the best of luck in the future.
