I got rotten fruits from them. Better go to a supermarket to choose your own products - really disappointed !!!

Expensive prices for mediocre quality potatoes

As you browse their website, you might notice that the asking prices are a bit exaggerated, but that's ok if it meets the quality.

Yet in reality you receive outdated Frieslanders where there's more junk than actual edible potatoes

Update: As compensation they sent me few kilos of another potato, these were great tasting and a fresh product, I truly enjoyed. Anyways, make sure to contact them before buying anything so you can get a fresh harvest (which must be the case for their asking price)

Hi Gleb. We've spoken each other and we explained why the potatoes are outdated. You ordered Eigenheimer in stead of Frieslander and Eigenheimers are soft in this season because they are harvested almost a year ago.
We send you new potatoes. How is your experience since then?

Awesome in every way possible

I was sceptical about the necessity for bubble wraps and air pockets, but having ordered every week for the last 2-3 months I now understand why. GroentBroer introduced some greener packaging (like the carton tray under apples) and I see a significant improvement in how produce is stacked in the box to avoid bruises. I'm hopeful that in the future they'll introduce even more green packaging (biodegradable bubble wrap alternative, maybe?) but until then I'm more than happy to continue buying from them.
In the 1-2 occasions when I needed them, the customer service was amazing, and that one time when I ordered augurken they even called to tell me they'll give me some extra because they're finishing their stock for the season and don't want to waste anything.
Lastly, it speaks volumes that GroentBroer newsletters are the Only newsletters I always read and I'm always happy to receive. Very informative, entertaining and it warms my heart to see how the business really operates like one family (which they kinda are :) Happy belated birthday Gert and keep up the great work!

Thank you for noticing that we are constantly improving our packaging. We have moved away from biodegradable plastic (for now) because it is not processable when offered as regular plastic and there is confusion about what is biodegradable and what is not.
But we continue to improve, so keep up the good work.

Too much plastic although they say they hate it

The products we received were great and with good quality. My issue is with the packaging. Everywhere on their site they say that they hate plastic and that they use 90% less plastic than a supermarket. We are trying to use less plastic so we were really happy about this. But when the order arrived, everything was wrapped in plastic! It was definitely not less than in a supermarket. I can even say it was more because they used plastic air bags to put between the produce. Please find a more sustainable way to do your packaging since the statement on your site is misleading.

Hello,

Thank you for your remark. We understand your concerns and it seems misleading. But it is not.

In your case it is really very bad luck.
Some products really need plastic to guarantee the quality.
These are sliced products, fresh herbs and greenhouse vegetables (radish) and some products that dry out quickly.
You ordered those products by pure coincidence, but I can assure you that it's really a coincidence.
With us the peppers, apples, tangerines, oranges, grapes, peaches, zucchini etc. are really all not wrapped in plastic.
Even the mushrooms are packed in a paper bag so we can save the plastic lid.

To be honest, orders we don't deliver ourselves contain extra plastic to prevent transport damage. Vulnerable products go into bubble wrap and airbags fill the holes to prevent products from crushing each other.
This is still a problem and we are still working very hard on it and make monthly little steps.
The last small step, for example, is that we have replaced the document bag with your address with a paper sticker.

The intention is to supply the whole of the Netherlands with our own transport, then we don't need plastic.
But we are not there yet. We now drive to the south-west of the Netherlands ourselves, as far as Rotterdam, but Amsterdam is still a bit too far from Zeeland.
We really have a lot of customers who regularly receive a 90% to even 100% plastic free order.
I'm sorry it hasn't been that way in your case and appreciate your comment and still learn from it.
