GS Controls does dangerous Electrical work
Gary the owner of GS Controls was contracted to upgrade my solar array and supply and fit new higher powered lithium batteries on my narrowboat, the cables on the roof for the solar panels were left in a shoddy state, cables were scruffy and they overhanging the boat, I asked him to tidy it up and was basically ignored. BUT THAT WAS ONLY THE START OF THE ISSUES.
The batteries were fitted and seemed to be working ok, about 6 days after he installed the new higher powered system, I had my washing machine running, stepped off my boat to talk with someone. Five minutes later I got back onboard and noticed smoke, immediately went to the engine room where I found the cables from the new battery back to the inverter were melting.
I called him and it took two days for his m to come back, he looked at it and said "I meant to tell you about the cables" I asked him when he was going to sort it, we agreed it would be the following week as he had to order the cables l, the agreed day came and went, GS Controls didn't come, I called him and he simply refused to come and sort the dangerous state he had left the boat in, he said he hadn't changed the cables so it wasn't his problem, I pointed out he had increased the power going into the batteries by 300% and increased the potential voltage of the batteries by 100% still he should have increased the rating of the cables to handle the larger draw on the cables. He then blanked me and has not corresponded since. I took the boat to get the dangerous work corrected and was shown that not only were the cables undersized but the fuse used was simply not fit for purpose and that the fuse box had actually melted.
GS Controls from Thorne and Castleford had left my boat in such a bad state that I could have been killed due the how dangerous the installation was.
This company should be avoided at all costs.
I have reported GS Controls to Trading Standards and I am starting civil action against the company.
