In November 2020 I had 2500 follicular units extracted (FUE) and transplanted at Hair in 1 Day in Mexico City (Polanco). I was 41 years old. Prior to surgery I shared historical photos with the clinic and discussed my goals.

The staff was friendly. The procedure seemed to go well.

However, 1 year later, I am very disappointed for several reasons.

(1) The angle of placement was wrong.

I have consulted with other surgeons who verify that the angle of each transplant is decided during surgery and will not improve. The result is permanent. The transplants do not match the angle or direction of my natural hair. Many transplants were placed perpendicular to my scalp (straight up), which does not conform with best practices for hair transplant design. The transplants look unnatural, like I have gel or hair spray permanently in my hair.

I pointed this out during follow-ups at 3 and 6 months, and my concerns were ignored. At 1 year, they acknowledged the problem but said it was impossible to undo and the best they can do is remove some of the hairs and try to replant them.

(2) Lack of hair density, unnaturally thick hairs, and persistent scalp inflammation.

It appears I've lost many transplanted hairs, and those that survived are unusually thick compared to the area they were extracted from. I've asked several highly rated hair transplant surgeons about this, and have been told this is likely due to bad technique (exacerbated by bad angle) that damaged blood vessels, which has led to fewer hair follicles surviving and thicker hairs because of the trauma. I'm told this is likely the reason I continue to have an inflamed scalp in the transplant area.

I’ve been forced to seek advice from more experienced surgeons to understand what went wrong and find solutions. Hair in 1 Day appears to employ surgeons with only basic training and experience. In hindsight – this should have been a red flag – they do not name specific doctors or their credentials on their website, and do not show a range of real patient outcomes from specific doctors.

I suggest looking elsewhere for hair transplant surgery.

El personal fue amable. El procedimiento pareció ir bien.

Sin embargo, 1 año después, estoy muy decepcionado por varias razones.

(1) El ángulo de colocación era incorrecto.

He consultado con otros cirujanos que verifican que el ángulo de cada trasplante se decide durante la cirugía y no mejorará. El resultado es permanente. Los trasplantes no coinciden con el ángulo o la dirección de mi cabello natural. Muchos trasplantes se colocaron perpendiculares a mi cuero cabelludo (hacia arriba), lo que no se ajusta a las mejores prácticas para el diseño de trasplantes capilares. Los trasplantes se ven poco naturales, como si tuviera gel o laca para el cabello permanentemente en mi cabello.

Parece que he perdido muchos cabellos trasplantados, y los que sobrevivieron son inusualmente gruesos en comparación con el área de donde fueron extraídos. Hair in 1 Day parece emplear cirujanos con solo capacitación y experiencia básicas. En retrospectiva, esto debería haber sido una señal de alerta, no nombran médicos específicos ni sus credenciales en su sitio web, y no muestran una variedad de resultados reales de pacientes de médicos específicos.

Sugiero buscar en otra parte para la cirugía de trasplante de cabello.

I traveled to the Guadalajara location from the U.S. for an eyebrow transplant. Ileana and the team were AMAZING! They provided me good instructions, realistic expectations and took excellent care of me while I was there. I'm so excited to see the evolution of my brows over the next few months. If you are looking for a hair transplant of any sort - this is the place to go!

I came as an American never visited San Pedro before and the staff took very good care of me from the start. They where very helpful and answered all questions without any hesitation. The recommendations on where to stay where spot on. The food that was provided was very good. The staff made this experience easy and seamless. I definitely would recommend getting the procedure done with this company.

When I approached hairin1day it was after months of searching, consultations and false-starts with nameless other clinics. I was told that I could not extract the amount which I had originally hoped for, but other clinics had no trouble promising me. That’s how I knew hairin1day truly had my health and best interest at heart. My greatest fear was that of a botched surgery. My Doctor at hairin1day was highly experienced, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and concerns without hesitation. This first surgery was to fill in my crown and I plan another one to fill in the front when the healing is complete. I will definitely be going back to hairin1day!

In my case They sent a doctor from Monterey to the Mexico city to do the procedure on day i wanted in Mexico city because i couldn't make it to Monterey.

Throughout the entire process, Dr Alejandro was very responsive and kind whenever I had any questions. The team was very knowledgeable and helpful as well. I am a transgender woman and to me this is a huge deal in my transition. They knew exactly what I was looking for when we were going over my expectations. They executed the plan discussed flawlessly

I live in Boston. US. And I have no doubts coming all the way to Mexico was the right decision.
