I bought this because it's a Sabatier and I expected that to be superb quality. It seemed fairly sturdy. However, the blade is flexible, so it bends unexpectedly when you cut anything harder than a tomato. After cutting myself with it the first couple of times I gave up. The serrations are large and quite widely spaced, more like those of a steak knife. A tomato knife needs very fine serrations. I would expect this to be able to cut steak... only it doesn't... because of the flexibility of the blade. Luckily it was a gift, so it's now the problem of the person I gifted it to .....whom I will now feel guilty about buying it for
