The product is good for the money. However, I was disappointed to not get the free gift, which was bags of coffee and which drew me to order of the Harts of Stur website.

This is a nice machine to use and it does the job well enough, but it's let down by the build quality and included accessories. The side and top panels are thin and hollow, and the machine vibrates during operation, causing the mug to rattle around on the drip tray. Being light, you need to hold the machine down when installing and removing the portafilter, though it would have to weigh at least 5kg for this not to happen. The double-spouted portafilter is cheap and light with a handle that's way too short. It also comes with a plastic insert that I think will be difficult to clean. The plastic tamper is even worse, way too light and small, and horrible to use. These will need to be upgraded, so budget up to £100 for these. The drip tray too, is thin and flimsy. That said, I don't mind that Sage compromised on these aspects if it means keeping the price down. And it's perfect for kitchens with limited counter space. My thinking was to get a more value-based espresso machine and spend more on a decent grinder.
Sadly the free gift was not included. However my main issue is the difficulty getting the portafilter inserted into the group head, and then getting in out again after the coffee has dispensed. It is necessary the hold on to the machine whilst trying to turn the portafilter - not the easiest manoeuvre and there is also the worry of damaging the machine. Having had this issue with a previous espresso maker I thought the Sage one would be much heavier - which would facilitate this task - but it doesn't help. I have only made espresso in commercial machines previously so have not encountered this issue until now. Am hoping it gets easier with use.
Well made and makes delicious coffee, easy to use
It produces good coffee and easy to use with a great milk froth et to boot. Barista coffee in a small machine and do-able price
