We stayed for 2 days and nights.

We stayed for 2 days and nights.
Accompanied by our 2 tiny dogs.
They were very welcome in bar but not restaurant....which was fine by us.
Beautiful view out the bedroom window. Lovely to see the wildlife.

The best thing about this place was the lovely friendly staff.
Very helpful. And always eager to please. Nothing was too much trouble.

However this hotel had to lose one star for the deteriorating decor. Areas of paint work were peeled to the wood. The leading on the bathroom window was dishevelled....hanging off and unsightly. The tiles around the bath needed bleaching.

Excellent stay

Excellent stay, room a little outdated but clean. All staff ( although looked over stretch) were extremely friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant Tara was excellent and a good portion size.

Please keep this place secret!!

Stayed for Christmas break, we had a lovely time. Yes rooms are dated but spacious with some nice touches, mini bar, tissues, light in the wardrobe etc. Staff were fab and the food exceptionally good. Our well behaved large dog was welcome everywhere and they even designated a doggie friendly dining room so guests dogs could be with them. Met some lovely people and have booked for next year. Well done Hatton Court for giving us a great Christmas break.

Tired hotel in need of investment

I stayed here last weekend and it was disappointing. The public areas are very tired and in need of a deep clean; the bar stools and upholstered lounge chairs were stained. The bedrooms are in need of refurbishment and our shower screen leaked so badly I had to use my bath towel to mop up the water.

The worst part of the experience however was the food. I chose smashed avocado on toast for breakfast which was actually closer to guacamole - mushy and sloppy on toast so the bread was soggy. The waitress tried to argue that smashed avocado was exactly that, but the avocado should at least be fresh and bear some resemblance to its original state. For dinner the bistro steak came out as a misshapen fatty lump which was not edible. Very disappointing. The food in general was of poor quality, cheap, tinned, processed and low end.

The highlights were the staff who were very friendly, pleasant and apologetic. Also the wine list was wide and varied and of good quality.

Do better.

Excellent food and staff

We had an excellent three days at Hatton Court Hotel. We had been before and stayed in a classic room.
The service and staff were excellent. Couldn't fault them. The location is perfect for exploring the area. The cream tea, breakfast and evening meals were very good and the food lovely.
The only downside was our room. We stayed in the annex which was very tired and awaiting a refurb. We had booked an executive room and we were given room 40. It was such a disappointment. It was identical in every way to the classic room we stayed in last time. The colour scheme and all the fixtures and fittings were very tired and had seen better days. The carpet was in need of a good clean and the room itself needed a thorough clean. We addressed the room at the reception as it was in no way executive by anyones standard.
Would we visit and stay at the Hatton Court Hotel again. Only if we can be confident we get the standard of room we paid for. Wishing you all the very best.

I had a special birthday evening with friends, we had 10 rooms. By booking direct we had an amazing package. The majority of the rooms were great, a few were fantastic and one was a little tired. The staff were brilliant, especially Laura/ Lorna (sorry) the venue was beautiful, the sun shone and they even helped us sort out some music so we could have a little dance! 💃 I couldn’t have been happier and had a wonderful day

DBB Stay as a "Buy a Gift" Present

My son bought us a Buy a gift hotel stay ages ago. We booked this hotel as we have stayed here before many times.

The last time we stayed it wasn't so good, but we did like this hotel and thought we would give it another try.

We are so glad we did.

Our last 2 times we stayed in the main hotel. Room 7 the last time and Room 5 this time. Room 5 was fantastic. A large room, nice views through the leaded windows, clean and overall delighted we had been allocated this room.

The hotel itself was quite busy with a coach full of German tourists, but all the staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. Josh the guy behind the bar was superb, as was the receptionist who greeted us on arrival and bid us farewell the following day. Sorry I cannot remember her name.

We felt the staff actually were enjoying their jobs.

The dinner and breakfast was lovely, and we will be back again in the not too distant future.

We would recommend this hotel again as the experience we had this time was fantastic.

Stayed for two nights in what was…

Stayed for two nights in what was supposed to be an upgraded room-it was small with dated decor and poor ventilation (one of the sash windows would not stay open). The bathroom was in a very poor state of repair with scum around the jacuzzi jets, the base of the bath collapsing and no shower guard which meant after showering the whole room was like a swamp. We had to use our towels to mop up. I would expect a coffee machine as standard in an upgraded room. On a positive note the restaurant food was good apart from the “buttered baby potatoes” we sent back on the second night as they were not only bog standard potatoes cut in half but some were black and rotting inside-they should never have left the kitchen if staff were paying attention.

Dissapointed

Just returned from a weekend away. Check in was fine and receptionist was friendly. We were directed to the East Wing. Room was OK but definitely needed an update. The shower was not adjustable and was too low to use, the bath was old and scratched/stained. The toilet was poor and needed flushing more than once.We then realised the sockets by the bed were 2 pin so had to stretch a lead across the bathroom door to plug in a medical machine and the kettle had to be boiled on the floor as there wasn't a socket high enough. The room wasn't serviced do no made bed or clean towels. My friend had stayed recently and had a very different experience so we were very disappointed with the weekend. I will add that the staff were friendly enough particularly at breakfast but dinner was overpriced.

Poor experience

The staff on reception were excellent and welcoming, a lovely room and a lovely hotel with great views.
The food and restaurant experience was awful. I ordered steak for my evening meal and it had to be sent back, everything on my plate was swimming in a pool of blood and the meat was so chewy it was inedible. The service was like an Olympic sport to see how quick you could get customers out, sitting down, taking orders and eating 2 courses can be done in 30 minutes!!
Believing the food couldn't get any worse the wife had a full English for breakfast and that had to be sent back because it was cold, the beans hadn't gone cold, they had never been heated in the first place. When we pointed it out to a member of staff they just took the plate away without a word!
Overall not a great experience, restaurant staff genuinely disinterested.

Returning guest after 20 years on what seemed like a too good to be true offer £139 for two guests with lunch, dinner and breakfast with a bottle of processo. Yes, it was a disaster I have never in my my years experienced such disgusting food from ALL three meals.
I hope this review goes some way to inform potential guests not to book to what seems a good offer as believe me it is definitely not.

Not good

Arrived, greeted by a very sociable receptionist whose language was colourful to say the least, including the F word, somewhat surprised. Had to travel out each evening to eat as the owner had closed the restaurant so the staff could cater for his wedding event, we were sent some of their other venues which, as we didn’t know the area, we booked our evening meals there, a 45 minute drive!!…they could have told us we could eat 5 minutes away!..could not get near the bar for a drink so went to our room earlier than we had intended, staff struggling at breakfast as there were not enough, Told the other staff were tied up with the wedding, breakfast noisy with all the wedding guests socialising, probably will not go there again…..

After many weeks in lockdown my friend and I wanted to escape the boredom. We stayed for two nights at the Hatton Court hotel and had a lovely stay. All of the staff were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was comfy and clean, breakfast was good but the highlight of our stay was the two amazing meals we had in the Tara restaurant. Well done everyone at the Hatton Court Hotel.

Highly recommend. Great for comfort, quiet and value for money

Stayed the night of Tuesday 25th February. Booked direct with the hotel and they gave us an excellent price for a twin room in the main hotel. All of the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. I asked for a quiet room, specified sheets & blankets instead of duvet. I couldn’t fault anything- excellent room with a fantastic view, and a very quiet nights sleep. We had a bar snack- my husband’s hamburger was delicious. I would highly recommend staying at Hatton Court for comfort, a good night’s sleep and great value for money.

Very Disappointing

we booked our trip to celebrate a birthday, 2 nights in an 'executive' room with a package including discount on dinner and breakfast with newspapers (Did not appear on the first day)
i cant fault the reception staff, dining facilities and location, but the rooms and service for the restaurant at breakfast and dinner were just not acceptable.

1. The rooms, not in good condition, coffee stains on the floor as you walk in (as though a coffee cup had literally been poured on the floor) a decent carpet cleaner would have sorted this problem in a few minutes.
2. The bathroom, moldy ceiling, poor masticing and dirty around the bath, no shower curtain although this is over the bath and expected to catch the water!. the toilet was so close to the towel rail you had to sit slightly sideways otherwise you burn your leg on the towel rail. as well as the bath is old and in need of a re-polish or enameling.
3. Dinner, the food was lovely but the staff seemed rushed and once you had you plates vanished to deal with bigger parties, surely if you have bigger parties you have the staff to cope.
4. Breakfast - 1st day we requested Gluten free for my wife, she said she did not need bread as she bought her own just in case but staff took this that neither of us wanted anything and left us sitting there for 30 minutes without us managing to order! eventually we accepted that we had to go looking for someone so that we could get a breakfast at all.
2nd day - we were served toast and coffee all smoothly then waited and watched whilst many other tables came and went, 40 minutes later i finally managed to grab someones attention for them to rush into the kitchen and return with a burning hot plate and stone cold food on it, i literally walked out of the restaurant at that point.
i did speak to a manager who listened and apologized but suggested that the main manager would get in touch, ill be surprised if that happens to be honest.
all in all it was disappointing that we spent a considerable amount of money on this trip which is something we do not often get tie or have the funds to do only to have left feeling like it was a waste of money.

Update - so 1 week after this review still no contact from the hotel manager despite the assistant manager i spoke to at the suggesting he would email me on his return 2 days later and an offer of a return visit FOC was available....neither have materialized surprisingly.

Afternoon tea a disappointment.

Afternoon tea a disappointment.
Was supposed to be a present - Limited selection of actual 'teas' (drink), which arrived promptly - a full 25 minutes before the sarnies etc. My vege option sarnies where cucumber (1 chunk, unpeeled) and tomato and 2 beetroot and (not much) lettuce. we had 2 white scones (nice) and 2 brown scones (inedible) with standard cream and jam, and a few tiny and uninteresting 'cakes' (mine consisted of 2 x 1 inch cubes of unembelished ginger cake and 2 x 1 inch squares of oversweet flapjack.
