Submitting a claim is so easy and the response is rapid - they money from the refund is in my account before I have to pay the credit card which is a huge help.

I signed up, received my quote, gave ALL of the information I had regarding my new rescue, paid, etc. THEN my dog age something outside and needed to be seen by 2 emergency vets. I paid the deductible and was reimbursed for a small portion. Okay. THEN they decided to raise my rates by almost double because one emergency vet led with ONE of his breeds. He is a rescue that DNA revealed is 48% Bernese and 52% King Charles. Healthy Paws said he would be much larger than I had reported and told me that they do not take DNA results stating that the vet would be the one to determine the breed. What?? My daughter's rescue came back with 8 breeds when a DNA test was done!!! So, a vet can say that a pup has 5% Chihuahua, 10% Lab, and such. NO! I had DNA done to report in good faith. When my vet said he would not even hit 30 pounds, perhaps only 25 (because she is a mindreader) they wouldn't budge at the new price. They put it "under review" so I waited a MONTH and finally just decided it was not worth it because calling a bunch of times, paperwork, resubmitting all of his records was never enough. In the end, it was a big waste of money and time!!!

After 8 years of paying Healthy Paws Pets insurance for my dog (now aged 10), this company does not have respect or courtesy to long time patrons.

My dog came from a rescue as a mixed breed. I may have assumed or written down a “chihuahua mix” in paperwork at the veterinary clinic we go to. (Also, chihuahuas are known to live longer lives bc of their size.)

After I have reduced coverage to 50% with a $1000 deductible. Used to have 80% coverage with a $500 deductible. I’m still paying almost $100 a month, they send me an email telling me that if my dog is a chihuahua mix that they are increasing my premium and if she’s not, my vet will have to fax them with the proof!

I’ve never had a DNA test and I wasn’t about to pay for one just bc they are disrespectful about it and bullying me. Never once in 8 years was there any mention of a problem with my rescue dog’s mixed breed. My dog has been healthy all these years. What a waste of money. Just set aside $50-$100 a month for your pet. Do not waste it on pet insurance with a company that is discriminating pet’s breed and age and try any excuse to increase your premiums. They are very disrespectful. They left me on hold for 30 minutes and when the call dropped they didn’t call back and I waited another 25 minutes. They are the worst!!

I’ve had Healthy Paws for about 9 years now and I just recently filed my first claim (s) . I found the process to be very easy and efficient. It was reassuring to know that I had insurance during the emergency situation. Even more reassuring to see that they actually come through when needed and they did without any hassles or hold ups.

I have used Healthy Paws for insurance for my 2 dogs for over 10 years now and it's an awesome company. The customer experience they provide is excellent! Highly recommend.

Healthy Paws insurance does not cover ANYTHING unless it is an accident. Yearly checkups - nope. Vaccines - Nope. Ear Infections - Nope. My dog's non-emergent surgery - NOPE. They've never paid one dime to me in 10 years, but want to increase rates again and this time, I say NOPE!

After the documentation was sent in, the check came in a few days.

Healthy Paws was great at first. I've used them for about 9.5 years. Initially, I had a $250 deductible and 90% reimbursement for meds, surgeries, & x-rays (routine vaccinations and the actual vet costs were excluded ).Each year monthly premiums increased. This year not only did my premiums increase but my deductible doubled to $500 & now my dogs are only covered 70% rather than the 90% when I took out the policy. It's just like every insurance company & they've got me over a barrel. No other company will insure 2 aging dogs.

Healthy Paws has been exceptional with all of my canines health issues! We are truly blessed to have such a great insurance supporting us! They are quick, and the process is very easy!

Having our dogs insured with you reduces the stress of going through emergency surgery like this. Our Flynn tore the tendon in his knee. He was in a lot of pain and could not put any weight on that leg. We were quoted over 4,000.00 for the surgery. Knowing we have this coverage makes it easy to make what otherwise could have been a very stressful decision. We got our 80 percent reinvestment within the same week of turning in the claim. That is also an amazing relief.

I've had healthy paws pet insurance for my dog for 12 years now and it's outstanding! Claims are easy to submit and typically process in 1-day. Really pleased and recommend them to all pet owners.

Puccini is doing great! We were able to have his cracked, painful teeth removed thanks to his Healthy Paw Insurance. I especially appreciate their new direct payment system.

I've generally had a good experience with Healthy Paws over the years. They are prompt in processing most claims, and if they don't have enough information, they will immediately reach out. They'll cover most things that are not related to wellness, and are upfront about that. I've personally had everything covered under their policy reimbursed without any major issues.

The minus one star is for the following reasons
1. When you sign up for a coverage level, you expect to maintain that level of coverage for the duration of the policy. Within the past year, Healthy Paws has down graded policies from the original coverage level. Ie I was covered under 80% reimbursement with a $250 deductible, but they've downgraded my coverage to 70% with a $500 deductible. There is no option to be grandfathered in with your original plan, while new accounts are stuck with the reduced coverage. This further sucks because if your pet has any pre-existing issues, it limits your ability to shop around as a result of this reduced coverage, which the pet insurance companies are aware of. Due to the reimbursement calculation issue mentioned in my next point, this downgrade means significantly lower reimbursement, while still paying more in monthly fees to keep the policy with forcibly reduced coverage. Overall, beware if you sign up, because they may very well do this again in the future.

2. The reimbursement calculations are not intuitive. Ie if you have a $1000 vet bill, with all eligible items, the reimbursement calculation is (1000*0.8)-250=550. As opposed to the expected (1000-250)*0.8 =600.

3. If they send you an email requesting more information, and you promptly submit it, they don't usually tie it to your active claim and put it back into the claim assesor's queue, even if you got an initial confirmation email that they received it. A quick phone call is usually all it takes to remedy this and make sure they have what they need, but you shouldn't have to call to have them link requested information with active claims and to then put it back into the claim assesors queue.

Reimbursement was quick and much appreciated.

Once your claim is submitted they promptly review it and pay the claim in an extremely short time. Also there to answer questions!
