I have just started using Heritage Volkswagon in Salisbury again having first used them nearly 20 years ago and switched to Martins. So far, excellent! Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly customer service from the Service Department puts them to the top of the list for my next new car purchase.
Heritage were chaotic
Heritage had the Ineos Grenadier dealership for a while. They were just dreadful. They stopped dealing with Ineos and dumped all their customers. I now take my grenadier up to Compass in Somerset to Compass Tractors who are great. They know how to treat what are essentially farming vehicles. Goodness knows what Heritage were thinking. They just weren’t geared up for them.
Not interested in selling anything
Reached out via their website to enquire about a VW ID.4 EV. 2 weeks later, still no response.
If they can't answer simple sales leads, how can they be trusted with anything else?
"Honda specialists" that don't know the specs of the fluids they are using and ignore their customers when questioned
I unfortunately I have to leave this review after a transmission service and lack of response from the staff working at Heritage Honda Gloucester.
I noticed after my service that the transmission seemed more inefficient, with the revs being slightly higher and gearchange less smooth. I looked into the fluid needed for my vehicle and wanted to verify the correct fluid was used. I first emailed to query this on the 26th of June and it's now July 27th.
I have had a few staff reach out and then not respond, including the Senior Service Advisor, who emailed back stating they have no idea what the specs are of the fluid they are using. He then stopped replying which I find very suspicious and unprofessional. What kind of a Honda specialists puts fluid into a vehicle without knowing the specifications? To top it off I've noticed the garage didn't even bother to stamp my service book which they said they would do.
I wouldn't trust these Honda "specialists" again. It seems they couldn't care less about service or your vehicle.
Useless
Useless, stupid, incompetent morons.
After numerous issues with getting my car. They setup the service intervals wrong.
They are literally useless.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Not competent, poor management and absent of quality systems
Since purchasing my Touareg in late 2016, I have experienced several years of hassle-free maintenance and MOT tests with Heritage Yeovil until 2024. The vehicle was serviced and MOT tested in Yeovil in March 2024. Upon arrival, a “free health check” revealed a defective rear fog lamp bulb, annotated as a MOT failure if not recified. The MOT was subsequently carried out without addressing the identified fault, resulting in a failure, despite the fault being discovered the same day. This oversight resulted in an unnecessary blemish on the vehicle’s MOT record. The lack of explanation for this peculiar situation appears to contradict fundamental principles of common sense.
Given the satisfactory service I had previously received, I considered this incident to be an isolated error and scheduled the vehicle for its March 2025 service and MOT. Additionally, I requested Heritage Yeovil to investigate a potential fault in the tailgate lock, which I had noted the day prior. I collected the vehicle, but upon arriving home, I discovered that the tailgate had been disassembled, with the panels and fittings scattered in the back of the car, and numerous electrical components disconnected. I doubt the vehicle was roadworthy. I promptly contacted Heritage Yeovil and arranged to have the tailgate reassembled at 11:00 the following day. However, the individual I had organised to meet was absent, and the verbal complaint and arrangement I had made had not been communicated to management. Despite this setback, the tailgate was reassembled promptly. Nevertheless, this incident raised concerns regarding the accuracy of the advice provided, which suggested that the tailgate fault required nearly £1,500 in repairs.
Considering this concern, I sought a second opinion from an independent dealer regarding the tailgate issue. During my presence, the tailgate was stripped and underwent diagnostic tests and a comprehensive visual inspection. Although there was some leakage for the rear windscreen washer, no faults were detected, and the visual inspection did not reveal any signs of damage to any of the components Heritage Yeovil had identified as requiring replacement. The written response I received when complaining about this matter stated that they recommended replacing all the parts “for safety reasons.”
In selecting a Volkswagen Main Dealership, I had reasonably anticipated the highest level of technical expertise and professional standards, which were conspicuously absent during my two consecutive visits. The communication at Heritage Yeovil was poor, and there was evidently little management oversight. Moreover, it was evident that customers’ cars were not being inspected before being returned to them.
Consequently, I cancelled my service contract and demanded a refund of the £140 I had spent on the tailgate investigation, which was promptly granted.

I had a great experience with Heritage Honda Gloucester, thanks to Nathan Tagg. He was easy to deal with and very helpful from the start. After my initial enquiry, he sent me a personalised video of the car, which was a nice touch, and followed up with a courtesy call to make sure I had all the details I needed. He was never pushy but always keen to help.
The car seemed like decent value—time will tell, as with any used vehicle—but it’s reassuring to know it comes with a 12-month warranty covering parts and labour, even though it’s not a Honda. Overall, a smooth and professional experience. Thanks, Nathan! I’d definitely recommend Heritage Honda Gloucester.
A really brilliant purchase experience
A really brilliant experience buying a used Polo from VW Heritage Salisbury with a competitive price!
Mark Stewart provided me with great customer satisfaction. Made the whole process relaxed. Everything he said would be carried out was and met a good standard and on time. For example refurbishing not just the scuffed wheels but so all 4 of them matched.
Mark and the dealership was an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Very polite, professional and extremely helpful.
Excellent service from Heritage VW Salisbury
Excellent service in replacing my VW Polo at VW Salisbury. The personalised digital brochure sent to me - videos etc made the decision to purchase my car much easier. The whole process was seamless and Mark Stewart was fantastic at explaining the whole process to me. He helped with all the new features and operations of the car. Setting up the digital features. Overall I received an exceptional service from VW Salisbury.
5 Star Service
My partner bought her new car from Gloucester VW and I cannot fault Ben G (Sales) efforts and customer satisfaction. The car needed some TLC before making a very particular person (me) happy, he went over and above and personally delivered the car to our home.
Five stars and we will be continuing to do business with Ben. Thank you.
Wish I had had a read of these reviews…
Wish I had had a read of these reviews before spending £31,000 on a used vehicle from the Dorchester Branch.
After purchase I tried to add a personal number plate to be told by DVLA that VOSA wanted to have the vehicle in for a "Total Vehicle Check" turns out the car had been on SORN for 6 months at a car body repair centre in London?
No mention of accident damage when I purchased.
The result was "Repairs Adequate" on the VOSA Report, though the car was constantly throwing up electric problems all based around the front end - Sensor / Radar problems, it went back to Dorchester and they kept "Fixing" the problem and when I raised concerns that the car was an accident damaged vehicle they said they didn't know anything about that and had done their own "Due Diligence and it’s not recorded damage".
They then tried to make out they were doing me a massive favour by offering a lot less than I paid for it but only on a "Trade In" against another one of the vehicles they have in group stock.
The last time it went back for "Repairs" it was suggested that the issue was my fault as it looked like I had run over something (Badger or animal) as the car had scuffs under the front valance?
Think I might have known if I had hit a Badger and there would have been a lot more damage than "Scuffs".
This hasn't just put me off Heritage, but I don't think I would ever purchase a VW again, total mess from start to finish and the worst decision I ever made buying from them.
After speaking with a totally different dealership and explaining the situation they offered me a decent part exchange on another vehicle.
I have now heard from them, and they have stated that the front Sensor was damaged / fault and they have replaced the part and its all working fine, so WHY couldn’t Dorchester do that instead of messing me about for months. (Possibly cheaper option!).
Do yourself a favour and look around and keep your distance from Heritage…..
Totally and consistently poor customer service.
What a totally useless company with absolutely no customer service. I purchased a used VW Touareg and wished to update the Sat nav data base and organise a servicing plan. I contacted Heritage Automotive as it’s their franchise in Yeovil four times. Every time I was told someone would contact me shortly, they never had the courtesy to respond in any way, despite me providing my mobile number and email address each time. If this is level of customer service that is obviously provided by this company, I personally would advise to take your business elsewhere.
Faulty car at VW Heritage of Yeovil
I had bought a 2022 plate VW Golf with 5000 miles from VW Heritage of Yeovil, the biggest mistake of my life, for a nearly new car the amount of issues I have had is very disappointing.
I spoke to head of business Adrian and car sales manager Neil to reject the car but although I reported initial fault under 6 months they are still not willing to honour a rejection, however they do accept I shouldn’t have been given a car with so many faults, they are happy to part exchange my car at 3k less and get me in another car for 2k more, which means for their car having so many faults I lose 5k in short space of time.
The head of business requested I take my previous review off, to which I agreed, they wanted me to give them an opportunity to put things right but it’s been two months on and nothing has happened, when I ring them they avoid coming on the phone, I get promise a call back and then receive an email full of excuses.
Customers are treated like robots, if you want to buy a faulty car, please go to Heritage of Yeovil, if you want to be treated like dirt then this is the place to go, my advice is to AVOID at all cost.

Rung several times relating to a specific VW Touareg, only to be told it was sold. Vehicle stayed forsale on their website , so emailed again.
Recieved a phone call saying the car was forsale , and only way to secure it was to put a £1000 deposit and the car would be taken off listing. Five days then past with no comms from salesman, eventually he rung. He stated the car had been sold to their MD , and then tried to talk me into buying a new one. Asked for money back to which they did , and several days later Recieved email asking am I still interested in car ?????
Very strange way of doing business, can only say after this would never attempt to purchase a car again off them
Ps several weeks later and car is still on their listing forsale

Dreadful company.
Dreadful company.
Didn’t sort out my vehicle for test drive, but couldn’t be bothered to tell me till i turned up for the test drive (40 min trip each way)..
Changed the date for delivery of my car by three months and lied that it had been that the whole time.
Now delayed by another 5 months.
Useless, incompetent, waste of space.
Heritage VW - Bristol
So far I have been pleased with my used VW T- Roc purchased from Heritage Bristol.
Sharaz the Sales Executive was helpful and friendly and did everything that he promised in a timely manner to prepare the car ready for collection. He even sorted out a very small bump on the bonnet and a couple of paint chips that we both missed at the time of the sale a week later.

Hi I would just like to update my experience with Heritage Honda Gloucester, I was asked to contact there customer service team to discuss my last review, after an internal investigation they have now admitted they got things completely wrong on the day and as a goodwill gesture have paid £100 towards my out of pocket expenses and assured me this will not happen again
