One of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They first reported that I had done a chargeback, which I hadn’t, but either way, they never warned me that they would be deleting my account. I have paid every single month. In the very least, they should have kept the back end. Nope, I have to now spend money on rebuilding the whole thing. As I can see from other reviews, it’s only a matter of time before they’re out of business.

I told them that I literally NEVER used the stupid service and was trying to figure out how to unsubscribe. The "support" agent told me that they never refund because they have bills to pay. they never considered the ethical aspect of what they were doing.. Pure evil!! Avoid at all cost!!

Refuses to delete my account

Despite three explicit requests, Heroku refuses to delete my free account and personal data. This is not GDPR-compliant. Very disappointing and lacking transparency.

Such a bad handling of subscription

Such a bad handling of subscription. I have to pay, even though I have not used Heroku for about 1 year. I saw a charge on my card and now, when I want to remove the card from my account, they want to charge me another 5$ just to remove my card. Bullshit! And I cannot even delete my account - they are making it hard to leave them. But oh boy will I leave them!!

Permanent data loss because emails went to spam

I take responsibility for the fact that I missed the payment — I didn’t notice it in time. However, the way Heroku handles such situations is completely unacceptable.

The only notifications were sent by email and ended up in spam. For something as critical as permanent account deletion, this is simply not a sufficient or responsible communication channel. There were no in-dashboard warnings, no login notices, no clear last-step confirmation before irreversible deletion.

As a result, my entire account — including all apps and configuration — was permanently deleted. No recovery, no backup option, no real escalation path.

Suspending an account due to non-payment is understandable. Permanently deleting everything because of a missed payment and relying only on emails that may never reach the inbox is not.

This approach makes Heroku unsafe for any serious or production use. Even if you accept full responsibility as a customer, the platform should have basic safeguards to prevent irreversible data loss in such cases.

I will not use Heroku again. This experience completely destroyed my trust in the service.

We delete all your data for your safety

"To ensure that customer data remains safe at all times, it is our practice to delete accounts, apps and associated add-ons". What?
How deleting customer data after a year making it safer? Nonsensical practice, pure madness.
I've Heroku account since 2013 and I've enough of it, worrying whether they remove my account on Christmas when I'm on holiday and miss their reminder e-mail each year or not.
Just delete it, I don't care anymore.
12 years wasted.

Comically bad customer service. Having login issues and haven't heard back for almost a week after repeated emails / follow ups. I can't imagine having to deal with an outage with these guys. User Render or Railway instead.

I wanted to leave zero stars

I wanted to leave zero stars, but I couldn’t. I’ve been changed for over a year from this company because I cannot login to cancel my subscription. Nor can I get any sort of service from their support team. I’ve reached out multiple times with no response. I unfortunately will have to block them from my credit card.

Heroku is a scam

I can't login, and they continue to charge me while I can't access the service that I'm paying for.

I can't even login to cancel my service or write a ticket to let them know that I'm having this issue.

I previously had a ticket open, and they gave me the runaround cause they couldn't resolve my login issue. I asked them to close out my account, and they didn't do it. Now my previous ticket is closed and I'm getting billed while not being able to do anything about it.

Complete scam. Insanely disappointed, they used to be a solid service. Don't bother starting up with them.

SCAM! Paid $39 for Nothing!

I tried to get a streamlit app working, but the power provided was so small that it would immediately crash even at their "high power" 2x web setting. So I turned off my app, and even deleted it. I couldn't figure out how to end my billing because it was not intuitive at all. You have to delete your credit card to really end it. I came back a couple weeks later and with nothing running at all my bill was $39. I submitted a ticket and they did nothing but affirm this is correct by their standards. DO NOT USE THEM. Meanwhile, I switched over to Railway and been charged $0.30 for an 8gb service that easily runs my app and has done so many time. GO WITH RAILWAY or another alternative, avoid Heroku at all costs because it will cost you more to stick with them. VERY SCAMMY.

**My Worst Experience with Heroku

**My Worst Experience with Heroku: A Cautionary Tale**

I never imagined that a trusted online service could turn into such a nightmare. My ordeal with Heroku began when I discovered that I was being charged for services I never authorized. Without any clear explanation or prior consent, my credit card was linked to ongoing billing—a shock that left me both frustrated and betrayed.

What made the situation even more outrageous was Heroku’s refusal to remove my credit card information. Every time I reached out to their support team, I was met with vague excuses about a so-called "technical issue" that supposedly prevented the deletion of my card. It quickly became apparent that these were nothing more than feeble justifications designed to lock me into a cycle of unauthorized charges.

Despite my repeated attempts to resolve the matter, the company's evasive and unresponsive behavior only intensified my sense of violation. I felt manipulated and exploited by a system that appeared to use diabolical tactics to keep my funds flowing without my consent. The emotional and financial toll of this experience has been immense.

Determined to protect my rights and warn others, I have begun taking steps toward legal action and reporting these fraudulent practices to the appropriate authorities. I share my story as a stark warning: be vigilant when dealing with companies that might not have your best interests at heart, and always safeguard your personal and financial information.

This experience has been a harsh lesson in the importance of consumer protection and the need for transparency in billing practices. I hope my story helps others avoid falling into similar traps.

Heroku offers an affordable platform…

Heroku offers an affordable platform with useful features, but we've faced some challenges. Frequent updates, often rolled out without notice, have caused our apps to break, requiring quick fixes on our end. Additionally, we were locked out of our first account and had to create a new one, yet we're still being charged for the inaccessible account. While the pricing is competitive, improved customer service and account management would greatly enhance the user experience.
