I would like to leave a positive review…

I would like to leave a positive review for the guy working for Hertz on January 30, 2026, at Charleroi Airport. We found ourselves in a very difficult situation, stranded at the airport with a group of children and no means of transportation. The guy working for Hertz was very helpful, offering us an excellent car option, which we ultimately rented. I would like to thank this guy with a positive review and wish him all the best for his help. Unfortunately, I don't know this guy's name, but he was working at Charleroi Airport on January 30, around 4:00 PM. Thank you

This is a daylight robbery company

This is a daylight robbery company, unbelievable, I paid in full for my rental, they wanted to give me a car smaller than i paid for, then after my rental concluded they charged my credit card additional fees for insurance, breakdown cover etc, that I didn't request or approve, when I got my money back through chargeback with my credit card issuer, they fabricated parking fine, without proof and sent me an invoice, when I challenged it, they didn't reply and instead sent me a speeding fine again fabricated. This was a nightmare, been renting card for over 40 years but never dealt with con merchants like those in Hertz Zaventem airport.

Terrible service from Hertz Brussels…

Terrible service from Hertz Brussels Airport Zaventem - and furthermore they don't respond to emails and complaints. By all means, choose someone else!

1. Strong smell of tobacco disguised by air freshener: The vehicle reeked of air freshener, evidently used to mask a heavy tobacco odor, which was unpleasant—especially on longer trips.
2. Undocumented scratches and dents: The car had several scratches and dents not listed in the condition report. We had to spend extra time documenting them at pick‑up to avoid being held liable.
3. Unauthorized insurance add‑on: At counter, we were presented with extra insurance without our consent—it was only removed after we objected.

4. Breakdown due to lack of maintenance: On day 2, the car ran low on oil. Roadside assistance arrived after one hour and found the car also lacked coolant and proper tire pressure—posing a serious safety risk.
5. Infotainment system failure: On day 3, the infotainment screen stopped functioning completely, affecting navigation and other essential features.

Great customer service

My review has gone from one star to five. I was charged for damage to the car and I cannot dispute if I did or didn’t do it. However, Hertz have been amazing sending all the information I need to claim from my excess. My excess insurance have been asking for copies of everything and Hertz have responded to every email quickly. I cannot fault their support.

Horrible experience with Hertz at Charleroi Airport.

I had a fully paid, confirmed booking via Booking.com. Upon arrival, the agent refused to give me the car, saying my HSBC UK credit card "doesn't work in their system" — without even trying to process it. The card is valid, has sufficient funds, and works worldwide.

No real explanation, no attempt to help, just “sorry, nothing we can do.” I was told that normally they don’t refund, but they might make an exception for me— which felt like a mockery - I wasn't given a refund anyway.

This caused major disruption to my trip and was handled with zero professionalism or care. I will never use Hertz again at this location and strongly recommend others avoid it too.

Absolutely dramatic…

Absolutely dramatic experience....agency CRL airport does not pick up, if they do they are utterly unhelpful, strictly zero flexibility or a capability to solve the problem, so either they feel embarassed or are rashtly agressive. It feels like talking to a computer. To Hertz management: Please let your agents do their service work and allow for flexibility, you are being disrespectful to your customers and to your staff that became mere bureaucratic agents. In the meantime that s my last rental with you.

Hertz guys at Brussels airport sucks.

Due to airports strike, my flight from Athens to Brussels moved 20 hours later. Although i modified my reservation, when i arrived at Hertz's desk at the airport holding a 7 months baby, the employees refused to give me the car i reserved because i had to be there three hours later...!! "This is company's policy" i have been told.
I cancelled immediatelly my reservation, i gifted Hertz what i had prepaid and i will never use this company because "my policy says that you exist cause of us". Bye Bye

Dirty vehicles full of sand

Dirty vehicles full of sand when collected. Hertz customer service took almost a week to answer my complaint email with no solution offered. Booked 3 times with Hertz and twice with Thrifty in the last 6 months. I was always happy. Saddened to have this poor experience.

Impossible to reach through on their…

Impossible to reach through on their customer service line. Just tried calling 4 times. After going through all the annoying menus and waiting for about 15m they just disconnect the call. Great service guys. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to talk to customer service and having to waste half a day to try and do so.

Worst rental company I had to deal…

Worst rental company I had to deal with. What a shame, advisor said to fill up the car and the car was missing fuel to start with. Came back to the advisor he said the gauge is faulty. Was handing the car back and filled up and the gauge was fine. Told the advisor he said sorry thanks for the info.

Where is the bank guarantee?

Pleased with the staff and cars rented. Prices are Ok.
Sad that it takes so long for Hertz to release the bank guarantee. Rented 2 cars a few weeks ago and money has still not been returned...

400 euros extra for a little less air pressure in 1 tire!

After renting a Polestar from Hertz Charlerois for five days, which cost me €350, they charged me over €400 for low pressure in a tire!!

Compensation of more than 400 euros for just a warning light indicating low pressure in a tire, huh?!

I have been trying to contact Hertz for over a week. I made dozens of phone calls, sent emails, filled out web forms, nothing. No answer at all. I've tried Hertz Charleroi Airport where I rented my car, I've tried Hertz Netherlands, I've called Hertz Belgium in Zaventem and in the UK, they just don't answer the phone, try it yourself and you'll find out!! The only person I was able to speak to was when I called the Hertz number for new reservations, but he hung up on me when he found out I was calling about this scam.

No matter where you rent, Hertz will try to rip you off. A few years ago in Rome they made me and my family wait for an hour (with lies about there being no car etc.) so I got tired of waiting and right then they tried to get my signature on a bill with extra costs, which doubled my rental costs. That time I was there to prevent them from taking my money. This time they just waited until I was back home and then I got the bill with an extra charge of 400 euros for a tire that I could have inflated a little more at a gas station.

I feel so ripped off.

These people are a Ripoff.. Despite having a fully paid voucher from discovercars.com including all charges like airport taxes and a full to full petrol requirement (I filled the car before dropoff) I was billed extra 82.88 EUR for fuel and taxes. All these charges were paid for upfront and clear as crystal fuel policy and yet Hertz refuses to acknowledge any fault or compensation . Renter beware

They answer

The issue was solved, but they charged me one day more. I had to proved it was wrong. I always record the car before returning, conditions, fueling etc. It was enough for them to refund me back. But they should really be more careful before charging someone additional amounts.
