Not a Five Star vehicle

I always thought of Hertz as a premium brand and had just been given Hertz Five Star status via my Amex Gold card. But the car I received was far from premium. Although paperwork indicated the 2023 Kia Forte had 13K miles on it, the actual odometer milage was 100K more than that—over one hundred thousand miles!
All carpets were theadbare, the “service overdue” light indicated that something should have been tended to 400 miles ago, and rheee was a menacing noise coming from deep within the engine that sounded as though a tightly wound spring was about to snap.
And there was an Uber sticker on the back window. Maybe that explains the unusually high mileage but not why this car is still in service.
