Everything was extremely horrible from…
Everything was extremely horrible from the time to pick up where Hertz wanted to double charge me for the rental to where I wanted to drop off at a different location hurts refuse to offer or allow me to deliver out at a different location which intern I went and bought a new car to drive around because I do not want to use the vehicle from Hertz. I will never ever ever ever in my life or afterlife want to rent a vehicle from Hertz. I will make sure I will post this on all social media platforms. I will also make sure that I’ll let friends family and anyone that I come in contact with that Hertz is trash. I will say the manager at the Royal Oak location Ayesha I believe her name is was extremely helpful and extremely brilliant. She called customer service to find out why I was being double charged and they told her that she would have to figure it out and they cannot help.

The worst rental experience ever!
This is a copy of my formal complaint to Hertz:
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding gross corporate negligence, breach of contract, and unacceptable customer service following my recent vehicle rental. For months, I relied on Hertz to provide a 12-passenger van for an event involving elderly passengers in wheelchairs. Hertz utterly failed to meet its obligations, endangered my passengers, and has since subjected me to an exhausting customer service runaround.
1. Breach of Reservation and Logistics Failure
On January 28, 2026, I reserved a 12-passenger van at the Dearborn, MI location for 8:30AM. On the first day of my event, June 18, 2026, the branch manager informed me the vehicle was unavailable. I was forced to travel 25 miles out of my way to the Royal Oak, MI branch to secure the rental.
2. Unacceptable Delays and Staff Misconduct
I completed and signed all paperwork at the Royal Oak branch at 12:30 PM. I was forced to wait an entire hour in limbo. At 1:30 PM, the employee finally pulled the van onto a busy side street, threw the paperwork on the console, and attempted to walk away. When I confronted her about the lengthy delay, she dismissively stated the van "was very dirty" and abandoned me on a busy street. Due to this hour-long delay, Hertz automatically shortened my return window, causing billing system errors later in the week.
3. Safety Hazard: Broken Passenger Doors
Upon arriving at the airport to load my group—which included two elderly members in wheelchairs—we discovered the back door was completely broken and would not open. Multiple airport employees and bystanders attempted to open it to no avail. We were forced to unsafely maneuver elderly, disabled individuals through the front passage of the van to reach the back rows.
I immediately called the Royal Oak branch multiple times for an emergency replacement or repair; my calls went completely unanswered. Out of desperation and fear for my passengers' safety, I stopped at a local repair shop. The mechanic charged me $180.00 out-of-pocket just to get the door into a semi-functional state.
4. Continuous Corporate Runaround
I returned the vehicle at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2026. Since then, I have been passed back and forth between employees in an insulting display of avoiding responsibility:
• The Return Agent informed me that the branch telephone system was not working and gave me a number for a manager named Jennifer.
• Gregory (at that number) promised to assist, then deflected.
• Jennifer (whom I finally reached on June 24) claimed she managed the Ferndale, MI branch and could not help, telling me to call Customer Service.
• Customer Service told me to call the branch.
• Jennifer then told me to call Billing.
• Billing told me to call the Insurance department.
Immediate Demands for Resolution
I am no longer willing to be passed from department to department. Because Hertz provided a defective, unsafe vehicle and failed to provide any real-time customer support, I expect the following within 10 business days:
1. A full refund of the rental cost for breach of contract and providing a defective vehicle.
2. A reimbursement of $180.00 for the emergency mechanical repair required to make the vehicle operational.
If this matter is not resolved promptly by a manager with the authority to issue refunds, I will escalate this complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Michigan Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, and across all public social media platforms.
