Got sold a car that was still taxed in the previous owners name and only given a V62. I explained that I needed the car to work in the hospital, their answer was that it is fine to drive even if the car tax is not in your name (not sure if this is legal). In addition, the car was delivered 3 days late with flat tyres. Could not get through to a manager to discuss my issue for days. When I finally got through to the manager, instead of apologising sincerely, he told me that he would refund the 50p for air. Extremely bad service. I would 100% avoid.

I purchased a vehicle from Hilton Garage via distance sale and exercised my right to cancel the purchase in writing within the 14-day cancellation period.
Since then, the level of communication has been extremely poor. I have sent multiple emails, chased repeatedly, contacted them via live chat and submitted a formal complaint. Despite all of this, I have still not received a substantive response or confirmation of collection arrangements.
Their own distance sale paperwork states that, following cancellation, they will arrange collection of the vehicle for a refund. The vehicle has remained unused and available for collection, yet I have been left chasing them simply to get an acknowledgement and a collection date.
I have also made it clear that I am going away shortly and need the matter resolved beforehand, but this has still not prompted a proper response.
For a dealership of this size, I expected a much more professional and responsive after-sales process. Buying the car was easy; trying to exercise the cancellation process has been unnecessarily frustrating.
I will update this review if Hilton Garage resolves the matter promptly, but at present my experience of their after-sales service has been very disappointing.
Good service from Salesman Dan. Very happy. Thanks.👍

We recently bought a car from Hilton Garage. The salesperson we dealt with was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience did not feel particularly pleasant or personal, mainly because of the number of customers being dealt with at the same time. We would have preferred to have one person’s full attention from start to finish, as this would likely have made the process quicker and more straightforward.
The environment was also very noisy, which made it difficult to hear properly and meant it was hard to have a private or personal conversation. There was also no negotiation with the salesperson on the price offered for our part exchange, which was disappointing.
One issue we found frustrating was having to leave the garage to purchase the car tax at a local Post Office. We would have preferred to complete this online, but this option was not offered to us at the time.
We were also charged a service fee for what appeared to be a minor oil leak. This later seemed not to be an actual leak, but rather an issue with the plug not being put back properly, which was frustrating. In addition, we had to leave a £700 deposit because we had not brought the log book and spare key with us. We had not expected to find a car and drive it away on the same day, so this was not something we had prepared for.
Finally, no fuel was put in the car for us, which added to the feeling that the handover could have been more customer-focused. Overall, while we are pleased to have found a vehicle, the buying experience itself felt rushed, noisy and impersonal. A more attentive and transparent process would have made a big difference.
We would also suggest that management reviews the dress code and considers providing a consistent uniform for all members of the sales team. During our visit, some clothing appeared less professional than expected in a customer-facing environment, including skirts that were noticeably very short. A consistent uniform or clearer dress code would help ensure a more professional first impression for customers.
Found the whole experience hassle free and efficient. No hard sell. Do your research & know what you want. The Hilton team will do everything else.

Awful company imo. Drove from north Manchester to Derby to collect a vehicle via part exchange. The supermarket was very busy upon arrival which tbf i was told itvwoukd be, i then met with the sales person who told me that my car visually met the initial valuation agreed over the phone and via photos and videos, however it needed a mechanical inspection. They had offered me £2400 for a 12 year old car, after waited nearly 2 hours for the inspection of my 12 year old car and when the valuation came in they said it needed a new clutch kit with labour being £540 and part being £60, £23 for a rear windscreen wiper, i also witnessed them banging the inside of my car v vigorously not sure why and poking the exterior with some type of device not sure why you would do that to a 12 year old car valued at £2400, hardly a bentley is it. Anyway they eventually came back at £1900 so i walked away as a matter of principle. The thing is you actually need to drive the car at 30mph to diagnose the issue, clutch kit diagnosis drive 30 mph. Driving at 30 mph is the ideal speed to Find a safe, open road where you can safely drive at least 30 mph. A slight uphill incline is even better, as it places more load on The vehicle will struggle slightly to accelerate because it is in too high of a gear, but the RPMs and vehicle speed will rise slowly and The RPM needle will quickly spike upward, but your speed will barely increase or will lag way behind. You may also notice a distinct burning smell. For the 30 mph test indicates a failure, the entire clutch kit assembly (clutch disc, pressure plate, and release bearing) typically needs replacement. Watch out for failing-clutch/)High Biting Point: The clutch only catches right at the very top of the pedal travel.Pedal Feel: A spongey, overly stiff, or sticky clutch pedal pointing to failing pressure plate springs or hydraulic issues.Noises: A chirping or grinding sound when you depress the pedal, which points to a failing clutch release bearing, you didnt drive my car on the road FACT, my car displays none of the above FACT. oh and before you attempt at a reply with damage control, i am not the first customer to raise the issue of unsubstantiated repair work being needed when it does not.
Paul was really helpful and supportive throughout the entire sale today. Very happy. Thanks

Having read about this garage online & the car I saw advertised for sale I felt I should take things further & come up from Suffolk to visit & test drive the car I was interested in & considering buying.
When I did agree later in the week to buy the car saleman Leon Issac made it all very straightforward indeed with everything.
Yes I would recommend this garage to anyone considering visiting & buying their next car or first car perhaps.
I am very pleased with my purchase from this garage.
