What really stands out of the ability to phone for advice when encountering problems and getting prompt help without sitting in a long queue or needing to submit a secure message.

I rang on Thursday am to set up a lump sum withdrawal from funds in my SIPP. I spoke to Joshua who was friendly and efficient. He took me through the usual checks and questions (I have made withdrawals previously). And he sent through the application form on secure messaging as requested, promptly after our conversation - enabling me to print and post the form on the same day, before leaving for a trip.

I phoned recently and was put through to an adviser almost immediately…..a refreshing change compared to other financial businesses. Your adviser helped me with my query.

I find the website easy to navigate and staff helpful and knowledgeable if I need help.

My late husband was the one who dealt with financial issues & although he never did anything without discussing it with me I was happy to go along with his decisions because I trusted him implicitly & I knew he was far more knowledgeable than me. Once on my own with no family to help I was too scared even to ring HL. I eventually did however & found most people on the helpline were understanding & sympathetic. I am in my eighties, not particularly comfortable on the computer & not knowledgeable about stocks & shares etc. Recently I have been very impressed by the kind, helpful people I have spoken to. Without them I would not have been able to sort out my ISA.

I think the website is easy to use and it is not a bad option for a beginner in investing. The customer service is usually helpful. The main downside is costs. It is much more expensive than other platforms and these costs can really add up over time. I would personally recommend cheaper platforms for most long term investors.

When I had problems setting up a new ISA from the website, I made contact by telephone and was guided through the steps quickly and efficiently.

Absolute Nightmare. I set up a new ISA for my wife with them and everything appeared to go fine. I received an Email telling me they'd received the application and that I would hear within 24 hours when it was set up and I could transfer money in. Sure enough the Email arrived within 24 hours telling me that the account was set up and I could log in to transfer money in. I logged in and there was no trace of the account. I phoned up and after much searching, they told me that they could find no trace of the account. I obviously said, "Then why have you sent me two Emails telling me it has?" They confirmed it was their Email address that they'd come from. Obviously my major concern is, I have given them ALL of my wife's details, along with many of our usual security details. WHERE HAVE THEY GONE? WHO NOW HAS THEM? After I raised it as a Complaint, I hoped that someone would get back to me reassuring me about the security loss, but nothing. I expected far more from a Financial company!
UPDATE 15/04/26
Really? If you haven't retained any of my wifes details, how/why yesterday did you Email her with, quite ironically, a Customer Satisfaction Survey?
And, if you haven't any of my wife's details, as you state, has your Mark Hicks, Head of Savings, sent my wife a letter this morning.
How dare you make so many errors and and be so lax with my wife's security and then try and fob us off with this BS?
We have now opened the ISA with another Company, without any problems at all. My big worry is that you have £20k of my wife's money invested from last year's ISA.

Due to my health conditions I now find it difficult to sign in as it now has to be verified by phone..for many years it has not been problematic signing in to any of my own & my wife’s accounts…(she has no interest in the investments)but given my age (85) and my illness(Amyloidosis)the whole process has become very confusing.
We no longer use the joint account but just keep the Stocks & Shares ISA’s so as to simplify a little, especially in tax matters. We obviously wish to keep the money invested so it’s a matter of day to day whilst watching how my illness progresses…as it will.
We would certainly appreciate any help in dealing with my situation.

Very easy to use, but when I got stuck a quick call to HL resolved my problem

I was honestly about to give one star after a recent issue with HL, but Emma from Customer Service saved the day! She was super helpful and professional.

Trying to set your birthday there is no way (that I could find) to select the year without scrolling back through every month from now back to (say) January 1958, which is a total of 819 swipes to the left, to set my birthday.
If an organisation can't consider this from the customer's point if view then it doesn't deserve my business, its an oversight.
