Morel of the story is do not leave things to the last minute.

There is nothing redeeming about this compamy. Bottom of its peer group in terms of fees, service, everything. Theyre not fraudulent, just bad, which gets it 2*
What i dislike the most is that you buy shares and they just never fill your order, and never tell you about it. Multiple times. I once watched a stock grow months on end thinking I owned it, and I never did. Also had an incident where they wouldn't let me withdraw money to buy a car because i had 'moved house too recently'... To top it off theyve just increased their fees! :)
Opening one of these accounts is like opening a bank. You won't change again for a while, probably. Think very carefully before choosing HL.

When you buy shares during market hours, we’ll send you an email to let you know your contract note is ready to view online. You can also check your stocks and see daily gains and losses anytime by logging into the HL app or website.
As part of UK financial regulations and our standard procedures, we sometimes need to reverify client details. If you’ve recently changed your address, we may not be able to verify automatically if Equifax doesn’t have enough information. In that case, you can send verification documents by post or securely online using Mitek. Once we receive everything, we usually update your records within 5 working days.
For security reasons, you can’t update your nominated bank account within 21 days of a change of address. If it’s urgent, please reach out to our Helpdesk as we review these situations individually and will do our best to help. Thanks, HL Team.

It is impossible to speak with anyone in authority at HL
I have been a client of HL for over 27 years and have asked someone to ring me about a matter I raised 2 months ago. Numerous emails, from faceless individuals, have failed to answer my question.
I am appalled with both the service and respect that HL has handled this still outstanding query.
They claim to have a 'world class helpdesk', well they need to demonstrate this.
HL seem more interested in new clients and new monies, whilst neglecting the AUM currently in their charge.
I have recommended over two dozen people to HL who have become clients, and I would not recommend anyone ever again. This company will not even talk to clients (except their helpdesk, which has no authority. Appalling service.
If HL don't like these comments there is an old adage - 'never ask a question to which you might not like the answer'.......
My conclusion from the emails is that they are AI generated, which might explain why no-one will deign to ring me. This might be OK from a platform with low charges, but not from one charging me £4k a year for the privilege. I can get the current level of service for less than £500. As Americans would say 'do the math'.......
