Company is a fraud

I contacted Acton Fraud about this company, after doing some investigation when I couldn't get a booking anywhere, anytime, after paying £85 for a weekend minibreak. Turns out the hotels listed have no connection at all with the company. They have simply lifted the photographs and details from the hotel websites. Action Fraud well aware of the indivuals involved I this company. Sounds like they move from one company to another, just setting up a new company as soon as the last one gets shut down. My bank refunded me and I delight in just letting them talk to thin air, at least they're paying to do so! Be warned, there are no holidays, it's a total scam.

This is a scam company who rip off elderly disabled people and leave them stranded in foreign countries with no help. Very aggressive man child manager named Bob Evans. No help, no apology, just babbling emails and screaming phonecalls.

The most horrific company I've ever had…

The most horrific company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I once foolishly bought a holiday package from them which turned out to be a con.

They only refunded after numerous heated debates with their manager.

They have been the bane of my life ever since with constant phone calls and harassment.

I've asked them to remove my details scores of times and they point blank refuse to do so. My advise is to never ever get this company any of your details and avoid them like the plague.

Jokers, harassers, thieves

A lot like other people, I wasn't able to book a holiday and they offered me a "free" 7-day upgrade (there was an admin fee to pay for this free upgrade). I have refused this many times and have asked them to take my details off their database, yet they still call multiple times a month - I've threatened legal action due to harassment and this doesn't stop them calling.

All in all, an absolute joke of a company - if I could have left a lesser rating than 1-star I would have!

Doesn't even deserve one star

Doesn't even deserve one star. Just spoke to Celia. Same story as everyone else. Cannot book. Free upgrade to seven night stay. Paying more money of course. How do they live with themselves? Despicable firm, despicable people, liars and theives. The good ratings are false. I WILL TAKE THIS FURTHER

Dreadful, dreadful

I've read every review on this site and have to agree with all of them! Paid £80, couldn't find an available hotel, was asked to consider a much more expensive and longer holiday, I refused that and then I was ignored. Dreadful, dreadful. PS. I'd love to know where all this money is going as it's patently not going on holidays....DO NOT TOUCH

Even 1 star is too high for this…

Even 1 star is too high for this company.
I bought a 2 night break in 0ctober last year and have tried to book something for August September and October and nothing available.
I was told as my voucher was running out I could have it transferred to a 7 night break free of charge and there may be a supplement to pay. I said well how much will the supplement be and was told it depended where it was.
I spoke to someone from Worldwide holidays and they sent 3 hotels from London through. The supplement was the total cost of the 2 nights ranging from £170 to £240. I complained about this and asked what has happened with my £80+ that I originally paid and was told that was gone. Where I don't know.
I asked to speak to someone higher. A man has just called me back. He has offered me a discount of £5 without breakfast. I told him he could stick it. He said I was rude and he didn't appreciate I swore at him. I asked him what I said and he said he couldn't repeat it. I told him I never swore at him and he told me we had to agree to disagree. I told him he was a liar. Just like his company. Misleading people and not fulfilling there part of the "bargain break".
Do not use this company. I've just lost £80+. I'd have rather gave it to a charity than this robbing company!

Don’t believe a word they tell you.

Don’t believe a word they tell you.
I was told the £656 I paid covered 4 weeks accommodation and I just had to pay for food, and I would also get 2 city breaks.
I’m now being told that’s the accommodation isn’t included and I have to pay, yet the prices they quoted can be beaten with a quick online search. Absolutely no idea what my money was for and even the city breaks have been suspended all year

Basically crooks which I'm reading is a common theme, do not use this company. Nothing is ever available and all they want you to do is extend to a longer break by paying more money!!! hopefully nobody falls for this. Stay well clear, promise after promise of the management team are going to call you to sort out the issue. This went on for 3 months until the voucher expired.

Don’t part with any money, rip off

I booked a two day break, this was flexible and I could use it any time within a year, it was for two people, I was flexible as to date of travel , when I spoke to salesperson I said I wanted York as it’s not too far from my home, but as time progressed and York was never available I said I could go almost any time as long as it was not too far from my home town, so I opted for the Lakes, Northumberland etc, still they said fully booked, so after two extensions of my time for travel, they now say fully booked can’t help me, as non refundable I have to seek help elsewhere! So I guess it’s ABTA now, so take your money and don’t fulfil their part of the deal, what a rip off, I have contacted them them many many time

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!
British breakaway, mini breakaway, British escapes, horizon travel, horizon holidays. They are all scam companies who are fraudulently taking peoples money. They must be stopped selling holidays that don’t exist and taking money for breakfasts then they refuse to take the calls and then when they do they say no allocation left at all and to keep trying. Then they get their other fake companies to call you to offer more holidays at a ‘really cheap price’ which also don’t exist. They are not registered companies and need to be reported for fraud.
Whatever you do, DO NOT give them any money or details.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ABSOLUTELY…

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR FROM A SO CALLED TRAVEL AGENT, paid for a break which was non-existent, tried several times to book the break and was told no availability, was advised to try in 2 months, tried again nothing, then my voucher was about to expire, I have since spoken to several managers and advised them I will pay NO MORE MONEY, they advised me there is nothing further they can do, requested my money back several times they wont refund my money, the only way fit for this company is Trading Standards or Watchdog I will go down every route to resolve this I will not let this go, What will happen is they will change their name again which they have done twice since I purchased my break, First they were Holiday Retailers now Horizon Holidays, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY THEY ARE SCAMMERS WHO RIP PEOPLE OFF, do not be fooled by this company they are only interested in their next vulnerable sale!!!!!

SCAM Dishonest and thieving company

Sold to me under false pretenses; I bought a weekend break bed and breakfast for 2 that cost £87. It was being given as a gift to my son and daughter in law. Which the girl on the phone told me I could do. Then the trouble begins...was told I had to change it from my name to his name, which we did. After several phone calls it was eventually changed to his name. Then every time he tried to book something it didn't work. Then after several phone calls from Then, I was told by a gentleman that my son wasnt trying to book at all and called us liars. So then I video called my son trying to book it. Still wouldn't work, after several phone calls again, when I requested a refund. I was told I couldn't get a refund because nobody had attempted to get a holiday. The man was the most rude, abrupt and ignorant man I have ever spoken to and then he hung up on me. After several phone calls and complaints after asking to speak to a manager, was told that the rude arrogant man that refused the refund, was the manager and that I had no grounds for a refund. Then I asked to change it back to my name after several attempts, it was changed back to my name. After several attempts of trying to book the holiday and phone calls, the same thing happened. I got a phone call 2 weeks ago and I asked for a refund and that we weren't able to book anything because of covid and because it wouldn't work and he hung up on me as well. I phoned again today to ask for a refund. A lady answered and she wasn't able to give any valuable information and point blank said I wouldn't get a refund because it has now expired. All she could was apologise and refused to offer anything else. I said I will get the money back through my bank and will be going to trading standards and she actually said "go and do that then". 100% SCAM. STAY AWAY!

I am sick tired of them

I am sick tired of them. Last year I made the huge mistake of booking a weekend through this “company”.

While the accommodation was quite OK, my nightmare started once back home.

I had to answer a questionnaire (around 1 hour long on the phone) and accept to be offered other stays, to avoid to be charged a penalty of some hundreds of £ (can’t remember exactly how much, but it was more than the cost of our previous stay).

I did it to avoid problems and when I was done with it, I asked them to remove all my contact details from their database because I won’t ever spend another penny on then.

And I just keep getting calls from them, from different numbers, it doesn’t matter how many numbers I block, after few days, another one will call me.

How can I get them to stop? I am so annoyed!

I should have read the reviews before I used them.

Further to my previous review of this…

Further to my previous review of this company.... I purchased a weekend break 'voucher' 2 nights B&B for £82, with the promise of no lower than 4* hotel & after seeing the good hotel choices on their website. Every time i tried to book it was impossible, Calendar on their booking website 'stuck' on January, I wanted to book for March. Telephoned, to be told March dates not released and not to 'activate' my voucher... Getting towards the end of February, still couldn't book online, emailed with my hotel choices and dates... no response. Telephoned to be told no dates left in March now?!? Asked for money back... refused. Asked me for other dates... which I reluctantly gave... said someone would call me back. Received a call back to say they could now offer me my original March dates, but not the hotels I'd asked for. Gave me 3 choices none of which were on their website, booked 1 as needed accommodation due to having theater tickets booked... The hotel was supposed to be a '3 star', when we checked in we were told it was a 'budget' hotel which didn't do breakfast!! After an argument with the hotel and phone call to horizon holidays, they did order breakfast in for us... which was terrible. The hotel (Park Avenue Inn Craven hotel in London) was clean, room warm, however small. Sink and toilet were clean however there was no hot water.
The shower was questionable so we didn't use it, and there was black mould on the ceiling above the shower. The first night I didn't sleep due to there being a lot of noise outside (ok this isn't the hotels fault) but the window's were obviously old and not sound proof. All in all just very disappointing what we ended up with when we'd paid for a 4* or above B&B break. Which we basically didn't get. I emailed one of the hotels advertised on horizon holidays website to be told they don't deal with this company. I have contacted watchdog about this company as I just feel they should not be allowed to trade or sell false promises.
